Ter-Petrosyan’s Raped Political Capital

TER-PETROSYAN’S RAPED POLITICAL CAPITAL

Lragir, Armenia
July 31 2007

The leader of the Christian Democratic Party, who was prime minister
for several months under the ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosyan,
stated July 31 in answer to Lragir.am’s question that he disagrees
to statements that Levon Ter-Petrosyan can be the only ideological
and political alternative to this government. The teammates of the
first president of Armenia claim Levon Ter-Petrosyan is "the only
candidate" who remain members of the All Armenian Movement or have
affiliated with other organizations.

Khosrov Harutiunyan not only disagrees with the team of the
ex-president but also think that they have wasted, "raped Levon
Ter-Petrosyan’s political capital and contribution." Khosrov
Harutiunyan says the society is definitely dissatisfied with Levon
Ter-Petrosyan’s government and himself, which occurred not due to Levon
Ter-Petrosyan but his team, and this dissatisfaction is with his team.

In answer to the question on the expediency of the return of
Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Khosrov Harutiunyan says his opinion on the
first president might be subjective but the leader of the Christian
Democratic Union says the contribution of Levon Ter-Petrosyan to the
modern history of Armenia and state building and his great experience
must be acknowledged. However, Khosrov Harutiunyan thinks the opinion
that Levon Ter-Petrosyan is the only alternative to this government
is a slap in the face of people because he thinks the Armenian people
have a greater potential.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
