7 CANDIDATES REGISTERED IN ELECTORAL CONSTITUENCY 15 TO TAKE PART IN ELECTIONS OF SINGLE VACANT MANDATE OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

YEREVAN, JULY 23, NOYAN TAPAN. Seven candidates were registered in
order to take part in the by-elections of the RA National Assembly in
a proportional system to be held in Electoral Constituency 15 of the
Aragatsotn region on August 26. Three of them have been nominated by
parties: Khachik Manukian, a former MP and a member of the RPA faction,
Raffi Hovhannisian, the Head of the "Zharangutiun" ("Heritage") faction
and the Founder and President of the party, who was elected MP of the
National Assembly of the current convocation by a proportional system,
and Gurgen Shahinian, a member of the ARF Dashnaktsutiun. Non-party
Mnatskan Mnatsakanian, the Major of Talin, Mekhak Mkhitarian, an MP
of the National Assembly of the previous convocation, who left the
"Orinats Yerkir" ("Country of Law") party, as well as Emin Karapetian
and Vahagn Petrosian have been nominated on a civil initiative.

It should be mentioned that 11 citizens had submitted nominations
beforehand in the above-mentioned electoral constituency, including
three Khachik Manukians. Afterwards, four candidates, including two
of the Manukians, refused to continue their struggle in the further
electoral campaign.

It should also be mentioned that Khachik Manukian, a member of the
RPA faction, who is currently envolved in the electoral campaign, was
elected MP of the National Assembly from the above-mentioned electoral
constituency according to the results of the May 12 parliamentarian
elections, however, later he refused to receive the mandate.
