Starting the "Golden Apricot" film festival with an interview with the
participants of the "Armenian Panorama" contest Michael Stamboltsian
explained by the considerable progress that Armenian cinematography has
made over the recent few years and desire to dissuade the public that
Armenian cinematography is at crisis. "There are so many remarkable
pieces in the ‘Armenian Panorama’ contest, that the prizes will be
hardly enough for all of them," he said during the press conference at
"Yerevan" hotel. Films by Davit Sahakiants, Diana Kardumian, Davit
Aslanian, Ashot Movsisian and Arthur Ustamian will be represented on
the festival in the frameworks of the "Armenian Panorama".

Davit Sahakiants is the son of the renowned cartoon film maker Robert
Sahakiants. Davit made films on the theme of 4 songs of famous
Armenian bard Rouben Hakhverdian – "Navak" (The Boat), "Tsiatsan"
(Rainbow), "Kapik" (The Monkey) and "Jhoxovrdakan" (A Folk Song). Diana
Kardumian’s film, "Autumn Sun", is based upon a novel by Tonino Guerra
"The Dancer".

Diana said that the film is about women’s problems in society. Davit
Aslanian’s in his film tells about crisis of spiritual values, using
celebration of "Khaghoghorhneq" religious holiday at Dgher church,
Armenia, as a scene of the film’s events.

The rest of the aforementioned film directors were not present to
the press conference.
