PARK NAMED AFTER LEGENDARY ITALIAN SCREEN-WRITER TONINO GUERRA TO BE CREATED IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, APRIL 19, NOYAN TAPAN. A park named after world-famous
Italian screen-writer, playwright and poet Tonino Guerra will be
created soon in Yerevan, in front of Italian street, in the territory
between monuments to Alexander Myasnikian and Stepan Shahumian. As
Armen Mazmanian, Art Director of Goy theater, stated at the April 19
press conference, the park will be opened in summer, in the days of
the Golden Apricot – 2007 (Voske Tsiran) international film festival,
in which Tonino Guerra will also take part.

"Tonino Guerra has already given his consent to construction
of fountains in the park by his draft (Guerra is also known for
his drafts of fountains of great value: NT)," Mazmanian said. The
park’s construction will be directly headed by Yerevan Mayor Yervand
Zakharian. The park’s architect is the grandson of famous writer
Kostan Zarian, Ara Zarian, who resides in Venice.

In A. Mazmanian’s words, the famous Italian screen-writer, who has
not been creating screens either for theater or cinema for already
15 years, of his own free will wrote a screen for Goy theater. And
in summer when Guerra again comes to Armenia the rehearsals of the
performance will start.

The Art Director of the theater said that his acquaintance and
friendship with Guerra started last year when the renowned writer
arrived in Yerevan to take part in the Golden Apricot film festival as
a guest. A. Mazmanian said that on April 16 he took part in Tonino
Guerra’s 87th birth anniversary and gave him a 250-kg khachkar
(cross-stone) made by similarity with one of Jugha khachkars.

After leaving Armenia Guerra wrote nearly 30 articles, lithographic
works and a poem about Armenia and Armenian people. In Mazmanian’s
words, Guerra everywhere tells and presents the Golden Apricot
festival and calls all renowned figures of cinematography for
"leaving for Armenia and participating in that festival." "I think
this is the best assistance to Armenia done through art and artist,"
Mazmanian emphasized.

Besides, a branch of Tonino Guerra International Cultural Association
opened in Yerevan, the Chairman of which is A. Mazmanian. The latter
said that with the funds of that cultural association every year young
Armenian producers, screen-writers and cameramen will pass one-month
master-classes in Italy.

ANCA LAUNCHES "CLICK FOR JUSTICE" CAMPAIGN
TO END THE CYCLE OF GENOCIDE

— Grassroots Campaign Mobilizes E-Advocates
to Join Nation’s Largest Online Genocide
Protest between April 20th through 30th

WASHINGTON, DC – The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA)
escalated its nation-wide campaign to end the cycle of genocide
today with the launch of its "Click for Justice" internet campaign,
slated to become the nation’s largest online genocide protest.

From April 20th to 30th, the ANCA website homepage, ,
will feature a special "Click for Justice" banner, directing e-
advocates from across the country to a targeted Congressional
WebMail message. In letters to their Senators and Representatives,
these advocates will call for the passage of the Congressional
Armenian Genocide Resolution (H.Res.106 & S.Res.106) and urge the
U.S. government to take concrete steps to end the ongoing killing
in Darfur.

The 10-day program will be accompanied by extensive netroots
outreach programs to MySpace and Facebook members, as well as
partnership with Armenian American and human rights organizations
in this internet initiative. Over 100,000 postcards promoting the
"Click for Justice" campaign are being distributed at events and
university campuses across the country. Organizations and student
associations wishing to participate in the initiative can email
[email protected].

"Take a moment today to send a clear signal to the officials who
represent you in Washington that you expect them to deliver results
in the fight against genocide," said Aram Hamparian, Executive
Director of the ANCA. "In less than two minutes, you can be part
of the growing wave of Americans who are committed to ending the
cycle of genocide."

The "Click for Justice" effort comes in the wake of the ANCA and
Genocide Intervention Network sponsored "End the Cycle of Genocide"
advocacy days on Capitol Hill, which brought together over 100
anti-genocide advocates from across the U.S. for a two-day Capitol
Hill campaign in support of Armenian Genocide legislation, targeted
divestment from Sudan, and calls for concrete U.S. steps to stop
the Genocide in Darfur.

In the House, the Armenian Genocide resolution is led by
Representatives Adam Schiff (D-CA), George Radanovich (R-CA),
Congressional Armenian Caucus Co-Chairs Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and
Joe Knollenberg (R-MI), and Foreign Affairs Committee members Brad
Sherman (D-CA) and Thaddeum McCotter (R-MI). The House measure has
over 190 cosponsors. Its companion bill in the Senate was
introduced by Senators Richard Durbin (D-IL) and John Ensign (R-NV)
and currently has 30 cosponsors, including Senate Majority Leader
Harry Reid (D-NV).

ANCA-WR Welcomes Unanimity of Colorado Delegation

PRESS RELEASE April 19, 2007

Contact: Haig Hovsepian

Tel: (818) 500-1918

ANCA-WR Welcomes Unanimity of Colorado Delegation– Colorado joins
Massachusetts and Rhode Island as States with Unanimous Congressional
Support for H. Res. 106 and S. Res. 106
Los Angeles, CA – The Armenian National Committee of America – Western
Region (ANCA-WR) has learned that Colorado has joined Massachusetts and
Rhode Island to become the third state with a complete Congressional
delegation in support of both H. Res. 106 and S. Res. 106. The ANCA-WR
is happy to report that Colorado activists were instrumental in gaining
the cosponsorship support of the Colorado delegation.

With the recent additions of Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO) and Congressman
Thomas Tancredo (R-CO-06), the Colorado Delegation now unanimously
supports the Armenian Genocide Resolutions of the Senate and House of
Representatives. Senator Salazar joined Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO) and
Rep. Tancredo joined Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO-01), Rep. Mark Udall
(D-CO-02), Rep. John Salazar (D-CO-03), Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO-04),
Rep. Douglas Lamborn (R-CO-05) and Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-CO-07) in
cosponsorship.

As an example of their grassroots efforts, on March 23, 2007, local
constituents Kim Christianian, Ken Allikian, Denise and Diane Gentilini
and Michael Chandler met with Congressman Ed Perlmutter’s local district
office in Lakewood as part of their grassroots efforts in Colorado. The
constituents met with Congressman Perlmutter’s Congressional Aide,
Christopher Votoupal to discuss H. Res. 106 and to urge the Congressman
to join the Armenian Caucus. During this meeting, the group discussed
issues ranging from the assassination of Turkish-Armenian journalist
Hrant Dink to the re-nomination of Richard Hoagland as U.S. Ambassador
to Armenia.

"This meeting was a good opportunity to articulate issues that are
important to Armenian-Americans that go beyond H. Res. 106 regarding
Armenia and its future," said Christianian. "Even though Rep. Perlmutter
had already signed on as a cosponsor, it is always important to meet
with local Congressmen and strengthen your ties with both them and their
staff."

Because Congressman Perlmutter had already signed on to H. Res. 106, the
constituents asked him to also urge his colleague Senator Ken Salazar to
also join as a cosponsor. "This is a collaborative effort between all
the local organizations working on getting this Resolution passed
whether it is the Armenian National Committee of Colorado or the
Armenian Assembly," said Christianian. "We are very pleased with the
work we have done and happy to do our part here."

"Colorado provides a wonderful example of the power of grassroots
advocacy," stated Andrew Kzirian, ANCA-WR Executive Director. "The
POWER Initiative will continue to reach out to the Western United States
to ensure that the interests of the Armenian American community are
represented properly," he added.

The Armenian National Committee of America is the largest and most
influential Armenian American grassroots political organization. Working
in coordination with a network of offices, chapters, and supporters
throughout the United States and affiliated organizations around the
world, the ANCA actively advances the concerns of the Armenian American
community on a broad range of issues.
