/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The "Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization
(BSECO) was established to give the member-states possibility for
integration and assistance, as well as to make use of the huge
potential of the region," Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian
stated at the BSECO Foreign Ministers’ session. He said, 15 years
ago establishment of BSECO was a necessity, which currently is felt
sharper, especially when discussions are on the way around deepening
cooperation between BSECO and EU states.

"Transportation, energy, banking and educational all infrastructures
of the region need to be unified, and not separation and isolation,"
Oskanian stressed.

In the result of the Foreign Ministers’ session two documents
were signed – the Belgrade Declaration and a memorandum on mutual
understanding for coordinated development of the Black Sea ring
highway.

The BSECO chairmanship was passed form Serbia to Turkey for 6
months. On June 25 a summit of BSECO member-states will be held
in Istanbul dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the organization,
the RA MFA Press Office reports.

TURKISH ORGANIZATIONS OF GERMANY TO HONOR VICTIMS OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

PanARMENIAN.Net
20.04.2007 16:49 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ On the initiative of "Union against Genocide"
an event will be organized in Frankfurt April 24, dedicated to the
Armenian Genocide.

Organizers demand to proclaim April 24 as a universal mourning day
for all nations of Turkey.

According to Turkish journalist Ali Ertem, head of the organization
established by Turks residing in Germany, other organizations
participate in the event too.

Particularly they are – Federation of Turkish workers of Germany,
Federation of Democratic Nations of Germany, Federation of Worker
Immigrants of Germany, "Union of Workers – Brotherhood of Nations"
organization and "Union for Struggle" newspaper.

The statement of "Union against Genocide" reads as follows, "Immigrants
from Turkey feel great sorrow concerning the fact, that today
genocides, which took place 92 years ago and were committed between
1915-23 towards Christian nations of the Ottoman Empire with the aim to
exterminate them, are being denied. The cutting of Christian population
down to 0.1 percent, which before 1915 approximately was 1/3 of the
Ottoman society, as well as bragging of Turkish nationalist-leaders as
if 99.9 percent of Turkey’s population was turned to Mohammedanism,
is nothing else than a peculiar recognition of committing genocide
towards our Christian neighbors.

Alongside with all this the Turkish government cannot overcome the
threat of dissociation. The main cause of it is in the fact that
the state has not been made answerable for the genocide committed
towards ancient nations who settled Anatolia – Armenians, Assirians
and Greeks. And the policy of using genocide as a tool for creating
a mono-ethnic society in the country has finally exhausted. Author
of the statement, Ali Ertem thinks, the assassination of Hrant Dink
showed that after 1915 nothing has changed in Turkish leaders’ way of
thinking. "Slogans "We all are Armenian" that for the first time were
pronounced in Turkey’s history, with the help of which the country
stood to protect the nation that became victim for genocide, was a
serious blow to chauvinism and denial of Genocide," Ertem underlines,
"Azg" reports.

Last year Ali Ertem gathered 11 000 signatures from Turks residing
in Germany who demand from Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi one more time
refused to meet Turkish parliamentarian delegation, currently in
Washington in the framework of "fighting" against Armenian Genocide
Resolution campaign. Turkish newspaper Hyuriet "regretfully" mentioned
this fact, reminding that Nancy Pelosi recently visited Syria, "which
is considered to be a hotbed for terror organizations" and met with
President of the country Bashar Asad. However, the newspaper, added,
she "did not want to meet with representatives of Turkey, which for
many tears is US’s ally in NATO," "Yerkir" reports.

MANNHEIMER MORGEN: HATRED OF TURKISH NATIONALISTS IS BOUNDLESS

PanARMENIAN.Net

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ "Obviously hatred of Turkish nationalists is
boundless. The terrible assassinations in Malatia displayed that
fanatics are capable of committing even such monstrous crimes. Radical
nationalist publicly label Christians as enemies of the country,
recently attacks became more frequent and sometimes with deadly ends,"
German newspaper Mannheimer Morgen writes.

The author of the article says, claims as if Christian missioners
undermine political and religious bases of the Turkish State,
are absurd. There are only about 100 000 Christians in Turkey,
which has 70 million population. "The tiny minority that wishes to
be left alone, at the same time keeps on struggling for the rights
of religious community," the newspaper underlines.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Irrespective of the fact if this monstrous crime has
been committed by radical Islamists or ordinary criminals, people of
Western countries now think Turkey has made one more step back form the
united Europe, German Berliner Morgenpost reports in connection with
the assassination of three Christian missioners in Malatia – Turkey.

"The principle of religious freedom again appeared under doubt. The
tiny Christian minority in Turkey is being put obstacles in its way
everywhere, all possible kinds of barriers are created. At the same
time the Turkish minority in Germany enjoys all privileges that the
Organic Law provides. In fact authorities in Ankara do not undertake
any actions to protect Christian institutions. The publishing house
that publishes Bible and religious literature has been repeatedly
threatened. These assassinations were a big blow to Turkey himself and
cast doubt on his ability to become a member of the European Union,"
the newspaper writes.

British Populus Polling Center Unveils Findings Of Its Armenian Surv

BRITISH POPULUS POLLING CENTER UNVEILS FINDINGS OF ITS ARMENIAN SURVEY

Armenpress
Apr 20 2007

YEREVAN, APRIL 20, ARMENPRESS: The British Populus polling center has
unveiled today the findings of its survey in Armenia that was designed
to find out voting intentions ahead of the May 12 parliamentary
elections. According to its results, 52 percent of eligible Armenians
will go to the polls on that day.

Some 2,000 Armenians were surveyed across the country between April
3-7. In response to a question who they would vote for if the elections
were held next Sunday, 31 percent said they would cast their ballots
for the Republican Party and 27 percent would cast their ballots for
the Prosperous Armenia.

The Orinats Yerkir of ex-parliament chairman Arthur Baghdasarian was
the third most popular party with 11 percent of respondents ready to
back it. Next in the row was the Armenian Revolutionary Federation
(ARF), which enjoyed only 8 percent of the popular support, while
the opposition National Unity could boast only of 7 percent of the
popular vote.

The survey has found also that the People’s Party (not to be confused
with the People’s Party of Armenia of Stepan Demirchian) could overcome
the five percent barrier. The rest of 14 percent of all votes went
to 14 other parties, contesting the elections.

These findings have been unveiled by Andrew Cooper from the Populus,
who said the discrepancy margin is about 2 percent. He, however,
added that these results are not a forecast of the upcoming polls,
but a reflection of the parties’ popularity at the time of the survey.

Forty-five of respondents said the country’s leadership had taken a
wrong course after previous 2003 parliamentary elections, while 34
percent had the opposite opinion.

"For comparison 30 percent of respondents in the USA and 40 percent
in the United Kingdom would say that their governments were on the
wrong track.

Therefore, in this sense, Armenians are more optimistic," Mr. Cooper
concluded.

Another optimistic note he noticed was that the majority believe that
one year later after these polls their lives would improve.

However, 43 percent of respondents do not think that the May 12
polls would be more fairer and more transparent than the 2003
elections. Twenty-five percent had the contrary opinion.

The survey also has found that immediate contacts between candidates
and voters and well-designed televised ads may have a bigger effect
on the latter.

But 50 percent said election campaigns have no impact on their
preferences at all.

Also 42 percent said they think the Republican Party is able to
solve the Karabakh conflict in a best pro-Armenian manner, 19 percent
believe it is the ARF that can do it and 14 percent that it is the
Prosperous Armenia.

Concerning the international acknowledgement of the Armenian
Genocide 29 percent said the Republican Party is able to press for
it effectively, 25 percent believe it is the ARF and 14 percent that
it is the Prosperous Armenia.

Thirty-seven percent believe the Prosperous Armenia has more resources
and is able to better solve the unemployment problem, 24 said it
is the Republican Party and 13 percent gave the ‘privilege’ to the
Orinats Yerkir. In general, in terms of resolving social problems
the Prosperous Armenia left others behind.

Concerning Armenia’s relations with its immediate and faraway friends,
the respondents named Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia as most unfriendly
nations, while the list of friends was topped by Russia, EU and France.
