The Regional Environmental Centre of the Caucasus is pleased to announce
that the anticipated signing ceremony regarding amendments to the Charter
took place on Monday, April 16, 2007. Representatives of the founders
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and the European Commission signed the new
charter into life.

Amendments of the REC Caucasus Charter consider changes in the management
structure of the organization in line with decisions of the Founders Meeting
held in Brussels in July 2006.

The New executive body is henceforth in the form of a Troika, accommodating
the REC Caucasus unique regional character and history of accomplishment. It
enables a balanced leadership to advance more region-wide efforts in the
South Caucasus to promote environmental protection and development of
democratic civil society.

Tbilisi, April 16, 2007.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
