Armenian version:

HIS HOLINESS ARAM I RECEIVES THE AMBASSADOR OF EGYPT

His Holiness Aram I received the ambassador of Egypt to Lebanon,
Hussein Darrar on May 27. The two held a long meeting, during
which the ambassador informed His Holiness about the political and
electoral developments in the Middle East in general and Lebanon
in particular. The two also talked about the participation of the
Armenian community in the elections.

His Holiness stressed the need to change the 2000 electoral law,
saying that the latter has cause inter and intra confessional
sensitivities. He said that after the elections are over, the
new government should make the changing of this law one of its
priorities. His Holiness pointed out that Lebanon’s sovereignty is
being re-established and that democracy is moving towards the right
direction in the country.

Emil Lazarian

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
