In Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan announces peace with Azerbaijan, and in Azerbaijan they officially organize an event called “Western Azerbaijan” and during the event, Azerbaijanis declare that they want to “return to their historical lands”, referring to the Republic of Armenia.
How will there be peace under these conditions, especially when after the national elections held in Armenia on June 7, the political force led by Nikol Pashinyan will not have enough votes in the parliament to change the Constitution?
Negotiation specialist, conflict analyst, senior consultant of CM Partners company, Boston-based Artur Martirosyan in other words, if there is no change that Aliyev demands, it is unlikely that Aliyev will sign the “Peace Treaty” with Nikol Pashinyan.
“That change is possible if either a constitutional majority is formed in the National Assembly or a referendum is held. The referendum is out of the question, the parliament remains, so Nikol Pashinyan and CP will try to achieve their goal by any means: to form a majority or to try to pass various laws that will allow them to pass the changes that Aliyev needs. There are no other options, I don’t see it myself.” 168.amArtur Martirosyan said in a conversation with
As for the June 7 national elections in Armenia, Artur Martirosyan said that it is clear that those elections were held with many violations. First of all, administrative resources and repressions were put into action before and after the elections. Therefore, these elections cannot be considered free and fair.
“There will be no external pressure to organize new elections. When Pashinyan declares that there was a bribe from the opposition, even if we assume that it is all true, there is no evidence, it means that it is not true. We have not seen any court ruling, on what basis does he make such a statement?
The logic is as follows: the elections must be annulled, violations of laws by the CP have no limits. This is a dictatorship, still a mild one, but it is a dictatorship, why, because if recordings were made, they must be made on the basis of special permits, and that too by the court. No force can take such a step,” Artur Martirosyan added.
According to him, even if such a recording is made, it cannot be made public, moreover, if these recordings were made public before the court session, they cannot be submitted to the court in general.
“Starting with the public leaders that these materials show, and ending with all those who violate the law, will they eventually have to answer for all of that one day? If not, then we will continue to live in an area that will never be formed as a national state,” emphasized Artur Martirosyan.

Baku once held a festival in Artsakh’s Azat village, and 2 years ago Aliyev
June: 23, 2026
20 days ago, Aliyev did not close the door to the return of “West Azerbaijanis”. A “legal-political”, “historical” base is being created against Armenia, the amount of compensation is determined with the text article: published, after which there were a number of episodes confirming our claim.
First, on June 18-19, the conference-festival “Return to Western Azerbaijan” was held in Ordubad, Nakhichevan, the organizers of which were the plenipotentiary representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Nakhichevan, the Ministry of Education and Science, Nakhichevan State University and the “Western Azerbaijan” community. Of course, we have already informed about this in the above mentioned article.
And within the framework of the mentioned conference, the leader of the “West Azerbaijan Community”, MP Aziz Alekberli stated that Armenia should create conditions for the safe return of “West Azerbaijanis”.
Second, we learned from the Azerbaijani media that it is a documentary film by a Swedish director պատվիրվել՝ dedicated to “the cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan, The Homeland in Memory, which has already begun to be presented to the Azerbaijani public.
Third, in the “Khan Yurdu” ethno-community of Yeni Zod village of Gyolgyol region of Azerbaijan, the “Heritage of Western Azerbaijan: under the title “return to historical roots”. the festival in the Azerbaijani materials about which you can see the map of Armenia, our song and music, Armenian lavash, etc. Moreover, Yerevan is called “Irevan” in those materials.
No detail was chosen just like that, there is a clear political message-demand in everything, including the location of the festival was not chosen just like that. Let’s explain. Yeni Zod village, which is part of Gyolgyol region (formerly Khanlar) of Azerbaijan, was formerly called Azat when it was Armenian-populated (Northern Artsakh). According to Azeri sources, mostly Azerbaijanis from Gegharkunik marz of RA live here, and it is no coincidence that Yeni Zod or Sotk call the village that once bore the name Azat. Moreover, there is also a “suggestion” as to why they resettled in this village and organized a festival dedicated to “Western Azerbaijan”.
So, in 2025, the authorities of Azerbaijan decision decided that in 2026-2027 there will be events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ashugh Alesker’s death, including in the framework of UNESCO, and according to Azerbaijani claims, he was born in the Azat village of the Gegharkunik region of the RA, which Azerbaijan calls Aghkilisa. And in 2024, when the monument to their struggle was opened in Baku, the President of Azerbaijan Aliyev in his speech, in particular, had stressed that one day they will celebrate a “great return” also in the case of the “West Azerbaijanis”, as it happened in the case of those who left Karabakh.
“I am sure that we will see the same picture when we return to “Western Azerbaijan”. Even during the occupation, in some of my speeches, I expressed thoughts related to “Western Azerbaijan”. We should always set goals, both strategic and tactical, both short-term and long-term. But if the goals are chosen incorrectly, no result will be achieved. Goals should reflect both truth and justice, as well as the real situation, our real strength.
Our cause is just, and the Azerbaijani people support our cause. Basically, this is the work of the Azerbaijani people. Today, the erection of a monument to an outstanding representative of “Western Azerbaijanis” is, of course, first of all a sign of the Azerbaijani people’s respect for Ashugh Alesker’s memory, but at the same time, this monument is an event that calls all “Western Azerbaijanis” and the entire Azerbaijani people to unite again for a single goal.
We are eagerly waiting for that day, we believe. I believe and you believe. There will come a day when we will restore the monument of Ashugh Alesker, destroyed by Armenians, and hold a similar ceremony in the village of Aghkilsa (in Azat village of Gegharkunik marz, RA. – MP)” Aliyev promised in September 2024. In other words, what they see today are strategic-tactical steps stemming from the “Western Azerbaijan” state political program.
We are not at all spreading Azeri theses, that is why we approached the wording “300,000 Azerbaijanis” with reservations, because there were not so many Azerbaijanis living in Armenia, as has been said many times. we wrote but we cannot fail to record the obvious facts, the consistency of Aliyev in this matter, who, in fact, is waiting for the right time to act, as he did on September 27, 2020.
We cannot fail to notice that the former soldier of Azerbaijan, who today is a military expert, considers Dilijan as theirs and notes that Aliyev’s assistant Hikmet Hajiyev set foot there with the right of the owner.
We repeat: there is no mirror solution here, no matter how much Nikol Pashinyan tries to create such an impression. After all, he does not finance and sponsor any return program, which Aliyev does, so the claims of mirroring are not serious.

He has always hated Artsakh. There is no flag in the square of France… my fight is not over
June: 23, 2026
The guest of 168TV’s program “Zara has a question” is director-animator Davit Sahakyants.
Below are some theses of Davit Sahakyants, voiced during the program․
- My fight for Artsakh is not over. until the last days of my life, I will still fight for the dream I believe in, which is called United Armenia, which also includes Western Armenia, which also includes other territories that are historically Armenian.
- Today, when I came to you, I was passing by France Square. I saw that the flag was not there. I understood that for some part that struggle was over. The flag, I think, had great meaning and should have remained until the reunification.
- It seems to me that there have always been people who rejected Artsakh, rejected Armenian, they have always been in the society, they just weren’t so brazen in those days and wouldn’t announce such things, now they have actually lost their shame, now they can, each of them, I don’t know why, can allow themselves to talk on Facebook, Tiktok or Instagram. But I don’t believe in this vote and I don’t believe in 2021. to the vote. I don’t believe that there are so many dangerous people next to us.
- We are truly a fantastic nation. talented, hardworking, but we don’t appreciate what we have at all. We don’t appreciate our country, our achievements, we didn’t appreciate Artsakh as much as it deserved, and today we are losing our homeland, even with their invented kilometers. People campaign, get elected, saying and announcing that they will give space. And this is in the background when there is a problem of the existence of Armenian Syunik. We do not appreciate the importance of Syunik for us.
- Those people who are in power today hate this country, they hate the children of this country… to the intellectual. whoever does not caress themselves, then they are not human. You are not with us, you are an enemy. Those people hate Artsakh. In 2008 that man shouted: we must free our country from the scum of Karabakh. The owner of that phrase is sitting in the position of “prime minister” today. He has hated Artsakh ever since, and that is a fact, with his attitude… We do not appreciate what we have, and, unfortunately, today we bear the responsibility for it as a nation.

168: The result of the new attack will be the rapid defeat of the KP. our only currency is az
June: 23, 2026
In the “Pressing” program Satik Seyranyan the guest is political scientist Anush Sedrakyan is.
The main theses of the interview are below.
- It is clear that there is an order from the higher courts of the European Union to support Nikol Pashinyan. But in Europe, in the West, there are organizations, observers, journalists who cannot close their eyes to what is happening in Armenia. Yes, the narrative of supporting Pashinyan is firmly established in Europe, but it should also be noted that Russia is also reacting very weakly. Russia, by blocking the entry of Armenian agricultural products to the Russian market, is punishing the people of Armenia, so what? Russia has a million and one levers to punish the government. Let me take an example: kompromat. Why don’t they publish?
We live in a paradigm of collusion. If at one time I was an unimportant person in Robert Kocharyan’s administration, I know so much, but they don’t know how much?
- Lumpening of the Armenian people has been taking place for decades. Everything works, only the last resort of Bolshevism, mass extermination, does not work:
- We were in the eastern focus of European civilization. Respect for women has always been there. And now, in the era of CP ideology, man is rising up to fight against woman.
- The only currency in this world is the resistance to dignity, national dignity. There are two countries standing at the ends of that narrative. I’m talking about the Ukrainian and Iranian resistance. It is better for the land to be yours, for someone else to use your minerals, but not to give the land, or the minerals, or the corridor, or everything, and not allow you to talk about your national goals, independence aspirations. All branches of possible resistance are being broken with us. We were defeated, maybe we were weak and incompetent, we were defeated, but we should not have been convinced that our defeat is our happiness, as Nikol Pashinyan does.:
- It is a great pain for me that western values are associated with this CP government.
- Let’s admit that, unlike our government, there is a patriotic government in Azerbaijan, Israel, and Iran.
- The alternative to struggle is destruction, the loss of the state:
- Where there has been a revolution in the West, its leaders have been severely punished. Zelensky was punished because his life is not a life, Saakashvili, who is in prison today, was punished. Let’s remember that their first words were the words “European integration”. But let someone draw my attention to a pro-Western speech of CP when he had just come to power.
- “Synopsys”, “ArmRusgazprom”, “Tashir”, Robert Kocharyan’s team, whom I saw from the first day in the ranks of the 2018 revolution, if they did not take to the streets on those days, there would be no revolution, and if it were not for Russia’s desire, some of the companies and individuals I mentioned would not have come out…
- In front of my eyes, they have stolen the agenda of Westernism and are using it to make our country undemocratic and poor.
- I don’t understand what it is about TRIPP that so proportionally benefits everyone.
- Elections are expected in France, and everyone is now carefully thinking about how to win the votes of the French-Armenian electorate.
- I cannot advise the opposition, but I can express an opinion. I think mandates should not be taken only for the people. Half of the people of Armenia are depressed and have packed their bags. The other part says: they deceived us, now they will take the mandates, sit in the parliament… You cannot enter an environment and not play by their laws… This is a virus. Nikol Pashinyan will find a magic way to form a constitutional majority. To avoid this, one should not simply take the mandates, because if PAP and Unity Wings refuse, it will bring the parties with few votes, and it will make such noise that they will think before taking that step.
- If the opposition forces do not take the mandates, the confidence of the people returns, and the possibility of legal solutions increases. There are no street people in our opposition. They are businessmen, rich, well-fed, working people, they are not from pubs like KP, from NGOs to collect, bring them to the streets, so that they have nowhere to go… Our opposition does not have lumpen massa. One is me. I will go for a day or two, I will sit on the street, I can’t do it anymore. I have so many work obligations that they will come, they will pour on me, I won’t get out from under them: If they go to the Parliament, they will become the enforcers of Nikol Pashinyan’s decisions, not because they are bad, but because they have no other option.:
- Political bespredel is not given to any opposition team as successfully as CP. They go to wa-bank because for them power is an existential, life-death issue. CP is the sponsor of political bespredel.
- The whole world knows that Nikol Pashinyan has no legitimacy, and if they are still silent now, it is only temporary…
- If there is an interest, the negotiations will not end well, if there is a goal, you can register success. Going after Shah is devastating. I know this by personal example.
- I have voiced something everywhere: my personality in connection with the dispute with YSU is one-tenth. I think I have reached an understanding. My task is to preserve the chair of foreign literature as a cultural value. I hope the best solution will be found:
- America is still on a mission to liberate people. They do not want to accept that the fate of their countries should be decided by the people.
- The CP will be wise, it will not attack the church with new momentum, because the main reason for their defeat was the attack on the church. If they try again, they will fail very quickly. The questions should be ideological: has any member of “Word of Life” been able to vote for the opposition… Of course not. Who is instructed: them or Armenians? A:the ministers of the Rachel church:
- The name of the Soviet Bolshevik will be changed to the name of the Armenian hero. If you’re bringing up historical figures, you shouldn’t bring up a controversial name. Dear pro-European Nikol Pashinyan, why wasn’t Amiryan street named after one of the women of Armenian noble lineage, for example, Aitsemniki? What sexism is that?
- People are tired of circuses and fighting for interests. This nation should have a goal, as Artsakh had in 1988, but not a false goal. We cannot do big things, everyone should do something small for that purpose. Geopolitically, we should pray every day that the Iran-US conflict will end as soon as possible, that Iran will enter the game with its victory speech, but we must be ready for it, and are we ready… No.
- The worthy children of the nation should be loved inside, they should not be loved outside. Nzhdeh should be appreciated and worshiped in Armenia, and let them call him a terrorist in Russia.

RFE/RL – EU’s Von Der Leyen ‘Planning’ Another Trip To Armenia
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is reportedly planning to visit Armenia on July 1 to reaffirm support for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian and his pro-Western foreign policy increasingly resented by Russia.
Citing unnamed European Union officials, Politico.eu reported on Tuesday that although her plans “have not yet been finalized,” von der Leyen has already cancelled a high-level meeting in Brussels that had been scheduled for July 1.
“We have seen the country under intense and consistent pressure from Russia; a visit would send a strong signal of support, following on from the concrete support already delivered,” it quoted one of the officials as saying.
The head of the EU’s executive body will assure Yerevan that “Europe is here for you,” added the official.
Von der Leyen already visited the Armenian capital in early May to attend a European Political Community summit and hold separate talks with Pashinian together with EU Council President Antonio Costa. Russia reacted angrily to those gatherings, saying that Armenia is siding with the EU against its traditional ally.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 9 that Yerevan must choose “as soon as possible” between accession to the EU and its continued membership in a Russian-led trade bloc. Moscow imposed in the following weeks de facto bans on the vast majority of Armenian-made products exported to Russia, the South Caucasus nation’s main trading partner.
The EU condemned the Russian embargo, saying that Moscow is “weaponizing economic relations for political pressure” on Armenia. Von der Leyen announced on June 4 50 million euros ($58 million) in urgent economic assistance to Yerevan. She said the EU will also open its market to “some Armenian products, in particular agri-food.”
The European Commission said late last week its Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos will travel to Yerevan on July 5 to “advance the implementation of the support package.” According to Politico, Kos is now expected to accompany von der Leyen on her July 1 trip.
Following its victory in disputed parliamentary elections held on June 7, Pashinian’s government reaffirmed its intention to continue seeking Armenia’s eventual membership in the EU. But it remains reluctant to withdraw from the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union, mindful of Armenia’s heavy dependence on Russia for trade and energy.
The Russian embargo blocked imports of Armenian agricultural products and beverages which totaled, according to Russian officials, $700 million last year. Armenia’s overall exports to Russia reached almost $3 billion, compared with $667 million worth of goods exported to EU member states. Moscow has also threatened to end its significant discount on the price of Russian natural gas supplied to Armenia.

Armenian Priests Drafted For Military Duty
- Susan Badalian
The Armenian military has drafted more than a dozen priests amid reports that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian’s government is using callups of reservists to punish Russia-based Armenians suspected of having voted against his party in the June 7 parliamentary elections.
The priests serving in Armenian churches in Russia arrived in Armenia on short trips recently. They all were called up for a 25-day military service and banned from leaving the country. Two of them reported for duty on Tuesday.
“As a result of the callups organized unexpectedly and hastily, the priests could not return to their places of service in a timely manner, which disrupted the usual activity of the parishes. Nevertheless, the clergy are ready to fulfill their duty to the Motherland,” read a statement released by the Armenian Apostolic Church’s diocese in Russia.
“We have demonstrated our service to the homeland ever since we set foot to the church,” said Father Arakel Amirian, who runs an Armenian parish in Yaroslavl, a Russian city 280 kilometers northeast of Moscow. “No clergymen of the Armenian Church regard service to the homeland as punishment.”
Amirian linked the unprecedented drafting of priests to Pashinian’s yearlong campaign against the church aimed at deposing its supreme head, Catholicos Garegin II. The primate of his diocese, Archbishop Yezras Nersisian, is a brother of Garegin and vocal critic of Pashinian. The latter branded him a “KGB agent” earlier this year.
The controversial campaign has been accompanied by arrests of four bishops and archbishops and criminal charges brought against several other high-ranking clerics, including the Catholicos himself. In February, more than three dozen chaplains were expelled from Armenia’s armed forces after reportedly refusing to revolt against Garegin. Father Daniel Mkrtchian, who now serves in another Russian city, Perm, is one of those priests.
Mkrtchian arrived in Armenia on May 31 together with his pregnant wife. He was called up by the military after she gave birth to their child this month.
“I served in the armed forces with love for five years and could have served for another 10-15 years,” he told RFE/RL’s Armenian Service. “If my service is needed now, why did they demobilize me in the first place?”
On the eve of the parliamentary elections, Pashinian’s entourage openly warned Armenian nationals living in Russia — and men in particular — not to come to Armenia to cast their ballots. It alleged that they were paid to vote for the main opposition Strong Armenia alliance led by Russian-Armenian billionaire Samvel Karapetian.
A deputy chief of Pashinian’s staff warned that such men would be called up as reservists immediately after entering the country. In a clearly related development, military police officers were deployed at Yerevan’s Zvartnots airport the day before the vote. Defense Minister Suren Papikian claimed at the time that they are not drafting anyone there.
“There is a procedure for [call-up] notifications, and notifications usually happen in accordance with that procedure,” Papikian told journalists.
However, Amirian, the priest from Yaroslavl, insisted that he received his callup papers and was notified about the travel ban at the airport. Armenian opposition leaders say military policemen have handed the same notifications to scores of other male expats in breach of relevant Armenian laws cited by Papikian. Under those laws, drafting conscripts and reservists is the prerogative of the army’s recruitment centers, rather than the military police.

RFE/RL – Armenian Opposition Leader’s Home Searched In ‘Post-Election’ Probe
Investigators searched opposition leader Ishkhan Saghatelian’s Yerevan apartment and car on Tuesday in a criminal investigation linked by him to Armenia’s disputed parliamentary elections.
Saghatelian heads the Yerevan-based governing body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) party, a key component of the opposition Hayastan alliance. The bloc led by former President Robert Kocharian finished third in the June 7 elections, according to their official results rejected as fraudulent by the Armenian opposition.
The Investigative Committee said its officers raided Saghatelian’s home and confiscated cash and jewelry kept there early in the morning because of his failure to comply with a court’s decision to freeze his properties and other assets worth over 258 million drams ($700,000). In particular, it said, he defied orders by Armenia’s Service for the Mandatory Execution of Judicial Acts (SMEHA) emanating from that injunction. The committee did not formally charge him with any crimes as of Tuesday evening.
Saghatelian denied breaking any laws. He argued that he recently challenged the SMEJA’s “illegal” demands in another court.
“All this is ridiculous,” he told journalists. “We are ready for any scenario. They can’t achieve anything with such methods.”
Saghatelian claimed that the criminal case is part of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian’s efforts to tighten his grip on power in the face of vote-rigging allegations made by Hayastan and other major opposition groups.
“[Pashinian] didn’t win the backing of a majority of our people [in the elections,]” said the Dashnaktsutyun leader. “In order to shore up his illegal and illegitimate power, he is resorting to illegal actions against opposition figures and forces.”
Pashinian pledged last week to “crush” Kocharian and businessmen Samvel Karapetian and Gagik Tsarukian leading the two other principal election challengers of ruling Civil Contract party. Law-enforcement authorities brought new corruption charges against Kocharian the next day. They charged Tsarukian with tax evasion a few days earlier.
For his part, Karapetian went on trial in April on separate charges also rejected by him as politically motivated. The Russian-Armenian tycoon is currently negotiating with Hayastan, Tsarukian’s Prosperous Armenia Party and other opposition groups over his proposal to set up a “post-election opposition coalition” that would fight for regime change in the country.
Prosecutors moved to confiscate Saghatelian’s assets last year, invoking a controversial law that allows the state to seize money, property and companies deemed to have been acquired illegally. The court froze them in January pending a ruling on the case.
Saghatelian, 44, said that the asset forfeiture proceedings are also politically motivated. He argued that he held a government position for only several months in 2018 and could not have used it to enrich himself and his family. The opposition leader’s father has reportedly engaged in entrepreneurial activities for many years.

The license to organize a casino of “Onira Club” has been revoked
The license to organize the “Onira Club” LLC casino (Shangri La) belonging to the family of “Prosperous Armenia” party leader Gagik Tsarukyan was declared invalid.
RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced this on his Facebook page and published the attached decision.
From the document published by the minister, we learn that the reason is the inconsistencies of the data in the reports on financial flows submitted to the supervisory body, which were qualified as false and distorted.
In particular, the discrepancy is related to the readings of the counters of the gaming machines. The minister’s decision is subject to immediate implementation. The company can appeal it to the Administrative Court within two months.
The NSS has banned 2 priests from returning to Russia at the Zvartnots airport
At the “Zvartnots” airport in Yerevan, the National Security Service forbade 2 priests to return to the Russian Federation to continue their spiritual service. The information is reported by journalist Suzi Badoyan.
The journalist also noted that the priests are spiritual ministers of the Armenian churches of Voronezh and Izhevsk.
According to the information of Sputnik Armenia, one of the priests was not allowed to leave the country, being taken to training camps.
Let’s remind that the assistant to the head of the staff of the RA Prime Minister, Taron Chakhoyan, announced before the NA elections that “those who came from Russia with election bribes will be involved in 25-day training camps, and those who refuse will be subject to criminal responsibility.” The next morning, the news spread that when crossing the border checkpoint, the military police officers of the RA Ministry of Defense issue notices to the men to participate in the 25-day training.
RA Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, referring to this news, stated that if the person arriving in RA is a soldier, then he has a debt to his homeland. To the journalist’s question whether what was said refers only to those arriving from Russia, Papikyan said that it is not only about Russia, but also about France, the USA and other countries.
