AZERI SPEAKER URGED RUSSIA TO MULTIPLY EFFORTS IN KARABAKH SETTLEMENT

07.04.2005 04:06

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Russia as one of the countries co-chairing the
OSCE Minsk Group should multiply its efforts for attaining a peaceful
settlement in the Nagorno Karabakh process, Azeri Milli Mejlis Speaker
Murtuz Aleskerov stated it when receiving CIS Executive Secretary
Vladimir Rushaylo. The Speaker said that the OSCE MG Co-Chairs should
not give the negotiations to the parties to conflict, who cannot come
to terms, Murtuz Aleskerov supposes. Aleskerov said Azerbaijan was
deeply concerned over «Armenian party daily breaking the cease-fire
regime, as well as turning Nagorno Karabakh into a center of drug
business and terrorism.» In his words, the Azeri party comes for
peaceful settlement of the conflict «however, not based on compromise
over the restoration of the territorial integrity and withdrawal of
the Armenian troops from the occupied territories.» Rushaylo said
that Moscow is for just settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

INTERNATIONAL ECUMENICAL GUESTS VISIT

THE CATHOLCIOSATE OF CILICIA

International ecumenical guests visited the Catholicosate of Cilicia
on March 31 and April 1. Bishop Nareg Alemezian, Ecumenical Officer,
welcomed the guests on behalf of His Holiness Aram I.

Among the visitors were Chris Ferguson and Jonathan Frerichs, officers
in the international affairs department of the World Council of
Churches. The purpose of their visit was to get closely acquainted
with the Middle East and inquire about its present situation from
Christian leaders.

Bishop Alemezian told the guests about the history of the Armenian
Church and the Catholicosate of Cilicia, as well as the present,
multifaceted mission of the Catholicosate. He focused on the recent
developments unfolding in Lebanon and the Middle East and answered
the guests’ questions about ecumenical relations, as well as the
process of Christian-Muslim cohabitation and peace.

The Bishop assured that the Armenian Church remains committed to
its role as a bridge between different parties. He stressed that
the Catholicosate of Cilicia firmly believes in the principle of
solving problems through dialogue and actively participates in all
the initiatives that contribute to the establishment of peace and
justice in the Middle East and the international community.

Richard Hoffman and Sona Hamalian from the “Catholic Aid Service”
organization also visited the Catholicosate. The guests presented
the social service projects being implemented by the organization
in Lebanon and Armenia. Bishop Nareg talked about the social service
activities of the Catholicosate of Cilicia. The two sides discussed
prospects for future cooperation.

The “Catholic Aid Service” organization was established in 1943
and aims at contributing to the abolishment of poverty and the
establishment of social justice.

Vladimir Kazimirov: There Is Sole Principle In Karabakh Settlement –

VLADIMIR KAZIMIROV: THERE IS SOLE PRINCIPLE IN KARABAKH SETTLEMENT – NO TERRITORY WITHOUT GUARANTEES

07.04.2005 05:17

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are tired of
persuading the parties of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, former
OSCE Minsk Group Russian Co-Chair Vladimir Kazimirov stated at
discussions over the Nagorno Karabakh issues in Yerevan. In his words,
already in 1993 the parties of the conflict discussed the issue of
return of the Kelbajar region to Azerbaijan, however the question
appeared at the time: “in exchange for what?” Russia insisted on the
immediate ceasing of the hostilities, the US … on persistent talks.
Everything failed at the time only because Azerbaijan representative
left the talks held in Geneva at the time, the Russian diplomat
explained. The Azeri party only states it is necessary for Armenia
to return all territories, refusing at that from the 6+2 formula
and all others. Thus, the Co-Chairs have decided to pass “the apple
of discord” to the Presidents of the two countries – the parties to
the conflict. As noted by V. Kazimirov, it led to the 20 meetings
held between them. “However, – V. Kazimirov noted, – whatever it
is the principle should always be only one -no territories without
guarantees. Unfortunately, the Azeri society does not understand this
principle,” the Russian diplomat emphasized.

Multi-Listing System Of Real Estate Sales Introduced For First Time

MULTI-LISTING SYSTEM OF REAL ESTATE SALES INTRODUCED FOR FIRST TIME IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, APRIL 6, NOYAN TAPAN. The National Association of Realtors and
Valuers (NARV) introduced for the first time a multi-listing system
(MLS) of real estate sales in Armenia. According to director of the
NARV Realtor Activities Committee Gayane Madatian, MLS is a real
estate database collected by a group of brokers. She explained that
in order to sell or rent real estate through the system, an exclusive
contract has to be signed with the real estate company, which means
that the client temporarily transfers his/her property right to the
given company. The real estate company is obliged to advertize this
real estate and spread a maximum of information about it among buyers
and realtors. If the client does not sign an exclusive contract,
the real estate agency considers the data on property to be its
inner information and does not spread it. According to G. Madatian,
the firm tries to sell the real estate at the highest possible price
which corresponds to market demands. The exclusive contract aslo
determines the brokerage payment to be made to the firm – in the
amount of 2.5-5% of the sale price of the real estate. The average
term of a contract is 3-6 months. It was noted that if the client
rejects the contract prematurely, he/she shall pay 2% of the sale
price. The NARV representative announced that over the last 12 months,
about 180 exclusive contracts have been signed by 28 organizations –
the assocciation members.
