ArmInfo. On June 30, 2022, the U.S. Embassy celebrated the 246th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America with an evening music, American food,  and fireworks.  At the event, U.S. Ambassador Lynne Tracy reaffirmed  U.S. support for democratic development in Armenia.

"The stories of our partnership encompass support for democratic  institutions, civil society, free and fair journalism, economic  growth, energy diversification, inclusive education, improved  healthcare, access to water, security cooperation, preservation of  cultural heritage, exchange programs, and humanitarian needs,"  Ambassador Tracy said in her remarks.

"We have partnered with Armenians in and out of government,  like-minded diplomats and international organizations, and American  citizens, including proud Armenian-Americans.  The tie that has  animated this cooperation has been a shared sense of values.  And, it  is the power of these partnerships that has helped drive the  significant progress we have seen in Armenia over the past thirty  years," she added.

On behalf of Armenia's Government, Armenian Vice-Premier Hambardzum  Matevosyan congratulated Ambassador Tracy.

The U.S Government has been supporting Armenia since it gained  independence, being committed to the Armenia people's desire to live  in a free, democratic country with rule of law and no corruption, he  said.

The Armenia-U.S. relations reached a new level after the velvet  revolution, with the bilateral intergovernmental economic  consultations evolving into a strategic dialogue, Mr Matevosyan said.

He pointed out numerous fields of bilateral cooperation – from legal  reforms to corruption control, energy and IT sectors. The  Armenia-U.S. strategic dialogue resumed its annual sessions this  spring.

One of the achievements of the strategic dialogue is the Memorandum  of Understanding Concerning Strategic Civil Nuclear Cooperation  (NCMOU). Development of cooperation in this field will open up new  opportunities for Armenia.

Armenia highly appreciates the U.S. efforts at a peaceful settlement  of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group, Mr  Matevosyan said. He voiced hop that the efforts will be consistent  and peace will be established in the region, with the Artsakh  Armenians' rights respected.

Mr Matevosyan stated Armenia appreciates the recognition of the  Armenian Genocide by the Joe Biden administration. That was a great  step toward the Armenians' just struggle throughout the world and a  harsh response to the Genocide deniers. This confirms the U.S.  remains committed to the supremacy of human rights and panhuman  values.

Independence Day, which Americans celebrate as the birthday of the  United States of America, takes place on July 4 each year, in honor  of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Five members of the renowned Hover State Chamber Choir performed the  Armenian and U.S. National Anthems in honor of the occasion.  The  theme of the event is the 30th anniversary of the U.S. – Armenia  relationship.

Artsakh authorities must think of Aghavno and Berdzor residents – Gegham Stepanyan

ArmInfo. The Artsakh authorities must think of the fate of the Aghavno and Berdzor residents, Gegham Stepanyan, Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, said.

According to the information at his disposal, the Aghavno residents  will be resettled in Hin Shen and Mets Shen, Nagorno-Karabakh, if the  alternative highway is put into operation.

"Berdzor residents will be involved in the same programmes as other  displaced persons. They will be provided with housing in Armenia," Mr  Stepanyan said. No evacuation of the local residents is taking place  now.

At a recent online conference, Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan  stated that new road that would be an alternative to the Lachin  corridor is under construction. Under the trilateral agreement of  November 9, 2020, during three years, with the parties consent, the  corridor  route is to be changed. As a result, the territories beyond  the boundaries of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region will  become part of Azerbaijan. The route will be changed to ensure more  reliable highway service between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

"We are solving the Berdzor residents' problems by means of  government decisions. Of course, the population must be provided with  housing. As regards Ahavno, the Artsakh government can resolve the  villagers' problems," the premier said. The route will be changed  after Russian troops establish control over the new route. The  corridor must be under Russian peacekeepers' full control, Mr   Pashinyan said.

Armenia – July 1 2022

YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to RF [(Russian Federation)] Vagharshak Harutyunyan's relations with both the Russian official elite and the staff of Armenia’s embassy are not going so smoothly.

His candidacy also has caused an internal dispute between the [Armenian] MFA and the ambassador. Vagharshak Harutyunyan insisted that one of his close associates, Suren Sahakyan, who worked as [RA] Deputy Minister of Defense from January to July 2021, be appointed to this position. (…).

The MFA has its candidate. He is one of Artsakh's deputy FMs, but our diplomatic source does not specify the name. (…).

Karabakh ombudsman: Aghavno village residents may move to Hin Shen, Mets Shen settlements

NEWS.am
Armenia – July 1 2022

As of now, no work is being carried out to evacuate the residents of Berdzor and some other communities. This was announced by Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Human Rights Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan, during a discussion.

Stepanyan noted that he had contacted the representatives of those communities Thursday, but there is no information regarding their being relocated.

"First of all, the Artsakh authorities themselves need to take care of their residents. And I don't consider it possible that there would be a situation where those people would be held hostage [by Azerbaijan]; steps are being taken in this regard," he said.

According to Stepanyan, the residents of both Berdzor (Lachin) town and Aghavno village benefit from the same privileges that are set for displaced persons.

"I have certain information that among the possible options—if the matter eventually comes to that—it is discussed that the residents of Aghavno will be accommodated in the Hin Shen and Mets Shen communities, and the same programs will be implemented for the residents of Berdzor that are implemented for the other displaced persons. They may be allocated dwellings in Armenia. At the moment, there are many issues," said the Artsakh ombudsman.

Armenia legislature majority faction member says there is ‘heated battle’ within ruling party

Armenia – July 1 2022

There is a heated battle within the ruling Civil Contract Party (CCP) of Armenia. Artur Hovhannisyan, secretary of the ruling majority "Civil Contract" (CC) Faction of the National Assembly (NA), told about this to reporters Friday in the NA.

Commenting on the press reports that there is a heated battle in the provincial council elections within the CCP, they have split into various wings, and are battling against each other in these elections, Hovhannisyan said. "Inter-party elections within the CC are always very heated. They are carried out according to democratic principles, and in that sense, yes, they are heated. As for splitting into wings, there is no such thing. Whoever ‘threw’ such a thing into the news arena is lying."

Azerbaijani press: Russia plans to close so-called "permanent representation" of Armenian separatists

Politics Materials 1 July 2022 15:05

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1. Moscow is going to close the so-called "permanent representative office" of Armenian separatists from Azerbaijan’s Karabakh, which has been operating since the 1990s, Trend reports via the Armenian media.

Information about the closure of the illegal "representative office" of the separatists appeared in the Armenian media earlier, but each time later was refuted. This time, according to the media, the Armenian Foreign Ministry and the Armenian ambassador to Russia refused to comment on the information.

Obviously, the closure of the "representative office" is due to the fact that Moscow values relations with Baku and thus demonstrates a fair position on the Armenian-Azerbaijani issue.

The removal of a provocative interview with the so-called "minister" of Armenian separatists Artak Beglaryan from RIA Novosti news agency’s site, and apologies made by famous presenter Vladimir Solovyov on Russian state television have already confirmed this fact.

YEREVAN, JULY 2, ARMENPRESS. Former midfielder of the Armenian national football team Henrikh Mkhitaryan said his final goodbye to AS Roma.

In a statement on social media, Mkhitaryan called AS Roma a “truly unique club”.

“AS Roma is a truly unique club.

From the moment of my arrival to the UEFA Conference League final, your support has been outstanding and something I will always be thankful for!

When I first put the Giallorossi shirt on, my main goal was to bring glory to the club and its fantastic fans – and I’m proud that we've achieved this together in Tirana! It was the best ending I could have hoped for my three years here!

This now concludes my time at AS Roma, so I'd like to thank everyone at the club for the special friendship we’ve built together. A huge thanks also to our coaching staff and particularly to Mr Mourinho for his trust in me, his care and the extraordinary drive he gave me as a player.

I’ve given everything for this club on and off the pitch and couldn’t be more grateful for the special time I’ve spent here.

This club and the Eternal City will forever remain in my heart.

I Love You”, Mkhitaryan said.

Mkhitaryan has been playing in AS Roma since 2019. He will play in Inter Milan for the next season, but the club has not officially announced it yet.
