Azerbaijani press: Participants of OIC conference visiting Azerbaijan’s liberated territories

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29. The visit by Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha and representatives of the OIC member states to Azerbaijan's liberated territories commenced within the 11th Conference of Ministers of Tourism of the OIC Member States on June 29, the State Tourism Agency told Trend.

Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fuad Naghiyev informed representatives of the OIC member states, visiting the Fuzuli International Airport, on the airport's role in the socio-economic development of the Fuzuli district, as well as in regional tourism.

A delegation consisting of tourism ministers, deputy ministers of Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Iran, Gambia, Niger, Malaysia, Sudan, Uganda, Gabon, the president of the Arab Tourism Organization, and ambassadors will take a look at cultural monuments, mosques, and other cultural heritage sites subjected to the Armenian aggression.

Moreover, the delegation will pay a visit to Azerbaijan's Shusha, and get acquainted with the ancient buildings of Islamic heritage and the tourism potential.

On June 28, the 11th Conference of Ministers of Tourism of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, organized by the State Tourism Agency, hosted the adoption of a Resolution on the tourism development, and the Baku Declaration.

The Resolution on tourism development condemns the illegal exploitation of natural resources, destruction of urban ecological infrastructure, cultural and historical heritage of Azerbaijan's liberated territories, as well as the demolition of Islamic cultural and historical monuments in Armenia.

The document also reflects a decision regarding the involvement of the member states' private sector in implementing infrastructure development projects in Azerbaijan's liberated lands.

Romania confirms 3 new cases of monkeypox

YEREVAN, JUNE 29, ARMENPRESS. Romania confirmed three new cases of monkeypox, the ministry of health said.

The infected persons are men aged 24, 33 and 38 from Bucharest.

“They are in good condition, have been isolated, one is in hospital, the other two are at home”, an unanimous source said.

So far, Romania has confirmed 9 cases of monekypox.

YEREVAN, JUNE 29, ARMENPRESS. Anna Hakobyan, the spouse of the Armenian prime minister, visited the Oceanographic Museum-Institute of Monaco.

Anna Hakobyan was introduced on the history of the Museum, created by Prince Albert I of Monaco. The Museum has more than 6000 exhibits.

The Museum representatives said that it is Monaco’s one of the key centers of a major scientific and tourism significance.



Belarus extends embargo on Western food imports till year end

YEREVAN, JUNE 29, ARMENPRESS. Belarus has extended the embargo on food products from Western countries until the end of the year, according to Belarus' Council of Ministers Resolution No.412 of 27 June 2022, BelTA reports.

The decision will come into force on June 30.

The import ban applies to a number of goods from the European Union, the United States, Canada, Norway, Albania, Iceland, North Macedonia, the UK, Montenegro, and Switzerland. The ban was supposed to last for six months, but Resolution No.412 extends this period until the end of the year.

The list of banned goods includes pigs, cattle meat, pork, some by-products, salted brined, dried or smoked meat, food flour from meat or meat by-products, milk and dairy products (with some exceptions), vegetables, other than those intended for sowing, fruits and nuts, pig, poultry, cattle, sheep or goat fat, lard stearine and other animal oils, sausages and similar products, confectionery, salt and other goods.

The meeting was closed for the press.

The meeting of the Turkish and French Presidents was organized on the sidelines of the NATO summit in the Spanish capital.

Erdogan is also expected to meet with US President Joe Biden today in the evening.

YEREVAN, JUNE 29, ARMENPRESS. The relations between Yerevan and Lyon are entering into a new practical stage.

Mayor of Yerevan Hrachya Sargsyan met with Mayor of Lyon Grégory Doucet, the Yerevan City Hall said.

Hrachya Sargsyan is in Lyon to attend the 4th Armenian-French decentralized cooperation conference.

At the meeting the Lyon Mayor said Yerevan has a special place among their partner cities. He expressed confidence that the conference will open new prospects and opportunities for moving the partnership of the two cities into a new practical stage.

“I am sure that the friendly and partnering relations between the two cities will enable to implement new mutually beneficial projects. The problems of all large cities are almost the same, and in the stage of upcoming reforms we are ready to be useful to friendly Yerevan by sharing our successful experience”, the Mayor of Lyon said.

In his turn the Mayor of Yerevan thanked for the invitation and warm welcome and also highlighted implementing substantive programs and exchanging experience.

“Implementing programs on exchange of experience in the field of city economy management with Lyon is very important for us. We believe we can have concrete partnership in areas of transportation, traffic management and urbanization. Yerevan is really interested in the expansion and deepening of the Armenian-French decentralized cooperation, and we see great perspectives here. Today we are participating in a regular conference which is very important in terms of establishing and strengthening partnering ties between the cities”, Hrachya Sargsyan said and invited his counterpart of Lyon to visit Yerevan.

During the meeting a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the City Halls of Yerevan and Lyon. According to the document, the sides are obliged to make joint efforts in education sector, by assisting the development of the French-Armenian professional study center.

President of Artsakh pays tribute to memory of servicemen fallen for defense of homeland

Accompanied by high-ranking state and military officials attended, the President paid tribute and partook in the memorial service dedicated to the Day.

The Head of the State subsequently visited the Military Pantheon and laid flowers to the tombs of the servicemen fallen for the defense of the homeland.

Both sides stated that the historical-cultural ties existing between the Armenian and Israeli peoples and the similarity of fates are important preconditions for creating a favorable environment for cooperation.

Ideas were exchanged also on establishing lasting stability in the region.

Armenian President visits US Ambassador’s residence ahead of Independence Day

YEREVAN, JUNE 29, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan visited today the residence of the US Ambassador to Armenia ahead of America’s Independence Day, being celebrated on July 4, the Presidential Office said. 

President Khachaturyan congratulated US Ambassador Lynne Tracy, the embassy staff and the whole people of the United States on the national day, wishing all the best. 

The President highly valued the US support provided to Armenia since independence aimed at registering progress in country’s development and democratic processes. 

The current agenda of the Armenian-American relations and the development prospects of the bilateral partnership were also touched upon during the talk.
