It’s not nice when people use swear words against the Prime Minister or his family members, but if the government starts punishing those people, this will be a violation of democracy. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said while answering citizens’ questions live on Facebook today.

A citizen had asked when the heads of “yellow journalism” and the people spreading caricatures offending the Prime Minister’s family will be punished, and in response, the Prime Minister divided fake news into news that is not too dangerous and news that concerns the country’s national security. He also said caricatures are one of the key components of democracy.

“There is also the big fake letter that I had supposedly addressed to the NATO Secretary-General. Law-enforcement authorities still haven’t found the author of that letter, or they have found the author, and the latter is abroad. It’s clear that the fake letter was written to make it look like Armenia is stepping out of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”

As for “fake” or “non-fake” Facebook users spreading fake news and using swear words, the Prime Minister recommended either blocking them or simply not following them.

PM compares police reforms in Armenia and Georgia

Police reforms were made more quickly in, for instance, Georgia after the Revolution of Roses. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said in response to citizens’ questions today.

“Why were police reforms made more quickly in Georgia? One of the major reasons is that the revolution was made in the geopolitical context. There was no geopolitical context during the revolution that took place in Armenia, and the government still goes against the geopolitical context.

Yes, Armenia has partners, but doesn’t have sponsors. This is how we wanted it to be. Yes, this makes the process difficult, but there are also advantages,” Pashinyan said. He recalled the rally that the Civil Contract Party had held at Liberty Square in Yerevan on September 10, 2016 and his speech in which he had stated that there must not be pro-European, pro-Western or pro-Russian forces in Armenia since that means anti-Armenianism and that there also shouldn’t be anti-Russian, anti-American or anti-European forces.

It’s not like the prices of all products have gone up. For instance, the prices of petrol and diesel have dropped, and the prices of many foods have remained the same. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said while answering citizens’ questions today.

When asked why the government isn’t controlling inflation, Pashinyan said the following: “Yes, the government can control inflation, but this may lead to the disappearance of products in stores. Yes, the government needs to follow and make sure people don’t gain major profits. I accept the fact that the government needs to take measures to make sure inflation is under control or is logical,” Pashinyan said and noted that the conduct of consumers also has an impact on the prices.

“I hold discussions on the price of ginger almost every day. I wanted to understand why the price of ginger is going up. Later, a citizen sent me a letter with a video showing that ginger saves a person from getting infected with COVID-19 100%, and this made it clear why everyone is rushing to buy ginger and why the prices started going up,” the Prime Minister said.

The elections held in the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) were not perfect. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said in response to citizens’ questions today.

A citizen had asked the Prime Minister why he doesn’t listen to the people’s voice and stated that the Prime Minister is shutting an eye on the fact that the presidential and parliamentary elections held in the Republic of Artsakh were falsified.

In response, the Prime Minister said nobody has said there were no electoral violations during the elections.

“The question is the extent to which the electoral violations had an impact on the results of the elections,” Pashinyan said and noted that if the parliamentary elections were falsified, opposition parties wouldn’t be in second and third places.

“I’m not saying the elections were perfect, but we need to continue to support Artsakh for development democracy in the future,” he said.

Pashinyan informed that he had received alarms according to which candidates were distributing electoral bribes to citizens ahead of the elections, based on the news in the presses. “I assigned government officials to verify the information, and I was told that the cases weren’t confirmed. Perhaps I don’t have the right information, and if there is specific information, I will give an adequate response.”
