ArmInfo. Article 301 brings the final death to freedom of speech in Turkey, lawmaker of the Turkish parliament from the Democratic Party of Peoples Garo Paylan expressed  such an opinion to ArmInfo, commenting on the latest processes  initiated against him.  

On January 11, the republican prosecutor's office of Diarbekir sent a petition to the Turkish parliament to deprive him of parliamentary immunity. At the same time, this  structure applied to the Ministry of Justice of Turkey for permission  to launch an investigation against the parliamentarian on the grounds  of Article 301 of the Turkish Criminal Code – public humiliation of  Turkish statehood, the people and the government. The prosecutor's  office's appeals are based on the latest statements and interviews  made by Paylan to Turkish media.

"All these petitions, the whole campaign against me are exclusively  based on my own statements to the media, made in my city- Diarbekir.  Indeed, I did not like the tense situation, the suppression of any  dissent, the servicemen and military equipment on the streets. Yes, I  openly stated about this, but this by no means should become basis  for using Article 301 against an opposition-minded lawmaker, "he  said.  In this light, the parliamentarian considers all recent steps  of the authorities against him as an attempt to make him and other  lawmakers keep silence about numerous violations of law and freedom  of rights in Turkey. The most terrible and unacceptable in all this,  he considers the "return" of the 301st article of the Turkish  Criminal Code sadly remembered since the murder of Hrant Dink.

This petition is the second against Paylan. In December last year,  the Office of the President of Turkey made a petition to deprive  parliamentary immunity against eight parliamentarians. In addition to  Paylan, the list included five of his party members, one lawmaker  from the ruling Justice and Development Party, and another from the  opposition Republican People's Party. Another request for deprivation  of immunity of 20 parliamentarians this time was received from the  prosecutor's office last week. Former Adviser to the Prime Minister  of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan Arsen Kharatyan on his Facebook page urged  the lawmakers of the National Assembly of Armenia of the new  convocation on January 14 – immediately after officially taking  office – make a joint statement in defense of Garo Paylan. "The  Turkish state has been repressing against Paylan for a long time. The  Armenian parliament which has an unprecedented legitimacy, should  send a corresponding statement to the RA Foreign Ministry and  instruct our diplomatic missions to take steps towards adopting  resolutions condemning the processes in Turkey," Kharatyan called.

Ղազախական «ԲԱՍԵ» հեռուստաալիքն ուշագրավ անդրադարձ է կատարել օրերս Կարագանդա քաղաքի «Հին Հռոմ» ռեստորանի մոտ տեղի ունեցած դանակահարության դեպքին, որի հետևանքով մեկ մարդ մահացել է, ևս երեքը վիրավորվել են:

Հայաստանի կառավարությունն ու «Գազպրոմ Արմենիան» այսօրվանից բանակցությունների նոր փուլ են սկսում:


Օրակարգում՝ հունվարի 1-ից սահմանին թանկացած ռուսական գազի թեման է ու դրա ազդեցությունը հայաստանցի սպառողներին գրպանի վրա։ Երկկողմ քննարկումները կարող են ամիսներ տևել՝ «Ազատության» հետ զրույցում կանխատեսեց փոխվարչապետի պաշտոնակատար Մհեր Գրիգորյանը։ Գործադիրի անունից բանակցող Գրիգորյանը նաև նշեց՝ քանի դեռ չկա հստակ որոշում, «Գազպրոմը» չի դիմի հանրային ծառայությունները կարգավորող հանձնաժողովին՝ սակագները վերանայելու հարցով։


«Հստակ պայմանավորվածություն կա, որ հարցը պետք է մանրամասն ուսումնասիրվի: Եվ ամեն ինչ պետք է արվի, որպեսզի սակագինը չբարձրանա»,- «Ազատության» հետ զրույցում նշել է Մհեր Գրիգորյանը:


Մի քանի ամիս տևած բանակցությունների արդյունքում Ռուսաստանը թանկացրեց Հայաստանին մատակարարվող գազի գինը, դեկտեմբերի 31-ին հայտարարելով՝ 2019-ին 1000 խմ դիմաց այն 150 դոլարից դառնում է 165 դոլար։ Թե ով է կրելու այդ 15 դոլարի տարբերության բեռը, առայժմ անհայտ է, սակայն փոխվարչապետի պաշտոնակատարը կարծում է՝ ամեն ինչ պետք է արվի, որ սպառողի համար սակագինը չբարձրանա։ Այժմ հայաստանցի սպառողները 1000 խորանարդ մետր գազի դիմաց վճարում են 286 դոլար: Ըստ Մհեր Գրիգորյանի՝ բանակցությունների այս փուլում քննարկվելու են «Գազպրոմ Արմենիայի» աշխատանքների արդյունավետությունն ու ծախսերի կառուցվածքը, ռուսական ընկերությունում կատարվելու են ուսումնասիրություններ։


«Ընկերության ավելի էֆեկտիվ աշխատանքը և ավելորդ ծախսերի կրճատումը բխում է նաև հայկական «Գազպրոմի» շահերից: Ըստ այդմ՝ պատրաստակամություն հայտնվել է նման», – նշեց փոխվարչապետի պաշտոնակատարը:


Երկարատև ուսումնասիրությունների արդյունքում նախատեսում են հետազոտել նաև «Գազպրոմի» կրած վնասների չափը։ «Գազպրոմ Արմենիայի» տնօրեն Հրանտ Թադևոսյանը անցած տարվա նոյեմբերին հայտարարել էր, որ արդեն երկու տարի ռուսաստանյան մոնոպոլիստ ընկերությունը տարեկան 13,4 միլիարդ դրամի վնասներ է կրում:


«Ազատությունը» Գրիգորյանից հետաքրքրվեց՝ փաստորեն չնայած այդ վնասներին և սահմանին գազի գնի բարձրացմանը «Գազպրոմ Արմենիան» պատրա՞ստ է անփոփոխ թողնել գազի սակագինը: Փոխվարչապետի պաշտոնակատարը արձագանքեց․ – «Վնասների կառուցվածքն ու վնասների պատճառն էլ պետք է խորը ուսումնասիրվի, որպեսզի հասկանալի դառնա, թե ինչ օպտիմիզացիոն ճիշտ ճանապարհներ կան, որպեսզի վնասներ չգեներացվեն: Կարծում եմ դա հնարավոր է անել, ի վերջո միջին սակագինը բավականին տարբերվում է սահմանի գնից: Ըստ այդ, կարծում եմ, որ մարժայի մեջ տեղավորվելու հնարավորություններ կան»:


Եթե գնագոյացման հարցում «Գազպրոմը» խնդիրներ ունենա, հնարավոր է և դիմի Հանրային ծառայությունները կարգավորող հանձնաժողովը՝ սակագինը բարձրացնելու համար՝ զարգացման այս սցենարն էլ չի բացառում տնտեսագետ Արտակ Մանուկյանը։ Տնտեսական հարցերով վարչապետի խորհրդականը պնդում է՝ անցանկալի հետևանքները կանխելու համար երկարաժամկետ լուծումներ են պետք․ – «Պետք է արձանագրել, որ արդյունավետության բարձրացման ուղիներ «Գազպրոմ Արմենիայում» կան՝ դրանք են կորուստները, այնտեղ բավականաչափ ներդրումների արդյունավետության ուղղություններ կան, գնումների հետ կապված: Այս բոլորը ազդող գործոններ են, որպեսզի կարճաժամկետ հատվածում փոխհատուցեն այդ հնարավոր գազի գնի բարձրացումը սահմանին: Այդուհանդերձ, պետք է փնտրել ավելի ռազմավարական և երկարաժամկետ լուծումներ»:


Էներգետիկ հարցերով փորձագետ Վահե Դավթյանն էլ համոզված է՝ երկրի ներսում գազի գործող սակագները հնարավոր է նվազեցնել 25 տոկոսով, սակայն մինչև դա՝ նա մտավախություն է հայտնում, որ կկրկնվի 2013-ի սցենարն ու սակագինը չբարձրացնելու հաշվին պետությունը պարտքեր կկուտակի։ 2013-ին այդ պարտքի դիմաց Հայաստանը Ռուսաստանին հանձնեց պետության 20 տոկոս բաժնեմասն ու «Հայռուսգազարդը» դարձավ «Գազպրոմ Արմենիա»։


«Ռիսկերը կարող են նախևառաջ արտահայտվել նրանում, որ գոյացող նոր պարտքը մարելու նպատակով որոշակի ենթակառուցվածքներ կամ գեներացնող օբյեկտներ ևս փոխանցվեն ռուսական կողմին կամ որոշակի քաղաքական զիջումների տեսքով դրանք տեղի ունենան», – մեկնաբանեց Դավթյանը:

Caretaker Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has participated in a formal reception on New Year and Christmas holidays for representatives of the state administration system. President Armen Sarkissian, Catholicos Garegin II and outgoing Speaker of Parliament Ara Babloyan were also in attendance.

“The main question that arises in the 2018-2019 boundary is the following: can we do the things we talk about? This question certainly has one answer, it is positive, but simultaneously with this answer there are conditions. Yes, we can, if we are able to believe in our powers, and in order to believe in our powers it is necessary for us to be able to believe in our mission. Our government is a government of a mission that must realize its mission, because it is developed on the faith and trust of our people for the past and future.

This mission is developed on the perception that a people who have passed through centuries-old disasters cannot lose because if it were a losing people this defeat would had arrived long ago. Therefore, the Armenian people is a winner and in 2018 the Armenian people proved this.

We must realize that all issues and tasks that we are developing are assigned to us by the people. All of these issues are solvable and we must solve them on the basis that all of us must understand and record – the solution of these issues is here and there [in the mind and heart]. If we are able to adhere to this formula, we will definitely solve all issues before us.

And the past eight months have proven that we have sufficient will, sufficient coherency, sufficient strength, sufficient people’s support for solving these issues.

I would like to thank all those present for their work during this period, and I want to congratulate for the joint work. Although I can’t say that we have done everything that we would have liked to have finished already, I can’t not mention that during this period we have done the most important thing – we have proved that we are capable of solving the issues set before us, regardless of how likely the solution of these issues seems to anyone.

I congratulate us all on the years of 2018 and 2019. I am sure that just like 2018, 2019 will also be a year of victories, but they [victories] must be greater, more encompassing and more strategic victories. Happy New Year to your families, happy New year to the staff of all ministries, I wish you good luck in your work and in your personal life. Thank you,” Pashinyan said.

Angeles Chapter will host a program titled “Vladimir Yengibaryan: Gold Medal Winning
Armenian Boxing Legend” on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Glendale
Public Library, Glendale, CA. Avetis Bairamian, sports editor of Nor Or, and author of the Armenian
language publications Famous Armenians in
the World of Sports and Armenian
Sports Encyclopedia will serve as the keynote speaker and present the
fascinating life of Vladimir Yengibaryan.

 

Also participating in the program are renowned Armenian
boxers, Khoren Injeyan and Nshan Munchyan, who will offer their remarks on
Yengibaryan.

 

Vladimir Yengibaryan was born in Yerevan, Armenia on April
24, 1932. He retired with a record of 255 wins and 12 losses. Yengibaryan was a
three-time European champion (1953, 1957 and 1959) and three-time Soviet
champion (1955, 1956 and 1958). He won a gold medal representing the U.S.S.R.
at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia as a light welterweight
(-63.5 kg). Yengibaryan is considered the most prominent Soviet boxer of the
1950’s period. He was the first Soviet boxer to become European champion. After
his retirement, he served as an international boxing referee and international
boxing judge. Yengibaryan was a noted boxing coach who trained and developed
generations of Armenian youth in the sport of boxing. Yengibaryan passed away
on February 1, 2013 in Los Angeles. He is buried at Tokhmakh cemetery in
Yerevan.

 

Carl Bardakian, chairman of the Tekeyan Cultural Association
Metro Los Angeles Chapter, stated “Vladimir Yengibaryan is not only a beloved
boxing figure, but also a great patriot and national hero of the Armenian
people. His impact and influence on Armenian boxing is still felt to this day.
Our immediate goal is for Vladimir Yengibaryan to become a candidate on the next
ballot for the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York.”

ARMENIAN ASSEMBLY HONORS LONG-TIME
CAPITAL REGION COUNCIL CO-CHAIRS CLARA ANDONIAN AND DORIS GEORGE

 

WASHINGTON,
D.C. – The Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly) and its Capital Region
Council hosted its Annual Holiday Reception last month at the Embassy of the
Republic of Armenia. The standing room only event honored long-time Co-Chairs
of its Capital Region Council, Mrs. Clara Andonian and Mrs. Doris George, for
their decades of hard work, “In Appreciation of Extraordinary Commitment & Unwavering
Support.”

 

“We greatly appreciate the tireless dedication and
commitment of Clara Andonian and Doris George – two wonderful individuals who
have given generously of their time and talent to help the Armenian Assembly
achieve its mission and goals. Clara and Doris are both one-of-a-kind members,
and we are grateful for their support and leadership,” stated Assembly Board
Member Annie Simonian Totah.

 

Clara Andonian has been involved with the Armenian
Assembly for over 42 years, serving in areas of advocacy for the affirmation of
the Armenian Genocide. One of her highlights with the Armenian Assembly was
being part of its 2004 Mission Trip to Armenia, led by Totah. As one of the
pillars of the Armenian community in Washington, Clara chaired the St. Mary
Armenian Apostolic Church Women’s Guild, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday
School for six years. She is a member of the Ararat Avak Senior Society, as
well as an active member of the Daughters of Vartan, where she served as Grand
Matron on occasion.

 

In 1973, Doris George and her husband Robert joined
the Armenian Assembly, and, over the years, Doris served the organization in
different capacities. Doris was a member of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the
Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), served on the Board of the Armenian
Rights Council of America, and was Chairwoman of the Daughters of Vartan. She
also serves on the Board of the Armenian American Cultural Association. 

 

After 20 years of working together, Mrs. Andonian
and Mrs. George completed their terms as Co-Chairs of the Assembly Capital
Region Council handing over the reins to the new incoming Co-Chairs Louisa
Baghdasarian and Marguerite Satian.

Also at the Reception, Yeretskin Anahid Kalayjian
was awarded the Armenian Assembly’s “Volunteer of the Year” for her efforts in supporting
and recruiting new members for the organization.

 

Armenian National Institute (ANI) Director Dr.
Rouben Adalian was the Master of Ceremonies, and introduced the guest speakers
for the evening, including the Republic of Armenia’s Embassy to the United
States Deputy Chief of Mission, Ara Margarian, and The Honorable Aram Bakshian,
Jr., who spoke about “Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora: Yesterday, Today, and
Tomorrow.”

 

The evening continued with a special musical tribute
to the late Charles Aznavour, with performances by Edita Kalayjian, who sang
“Armenian Waltz” by Den Gharibian and “Ave Maria” by Charles Aznavour; she was
accompanied by Christine Kharazian on violin and Duff Davis on acoustic guitar.
Victoria Petrosyan sang “Hayastan” by Armen Smbatyan, accompanied by Naira
Babayan. Her daughter, Karine Mikayelyan, sang Charles Anzavour’s “Pour Toi,
Armenie” in the Armenian translated version of “Qez Hamar, Hayastan.”

 

Following the musical performances, Assembly Executive Director
Bryan Ardouny briefed the audience on the Assembly's activities and
accomplishments this past year as well as the challenges ahead in the 116th
Congress.  He also highlighted the Assembly’s successful National Advocacy
Conference and the need to continue our efforts to make our voices heard on
Capitol Hill. Both Ardouny and Totah encouraged the audience to contact their
Representatives, especially the incoming freshman Members, to educate them on
the importance of strengthening U.S.-Armenia and other key issues.

Travel: Armenia is one of top five destinations for single Russian tourists

YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. Armenia is one of the five top destinations for single Russian travelers (backpackers) in 2019, according to Skyscanner air ticket booking service.

The list was compiled based on the number of bookings of air tickets made to these destinations in 2018, dp.ru reported. According to experts, in the outgoing year Armenia showed a 14% increase in the number of air ticket bookings, ranking fifth.

The list is toped by Hungary, which saw 61% growth. It is followed by Turkey (1.5 times increase). Armenia’s neighboring Georgia is third, which saw 24% increase.  France with 16% growth is fifth. –0–

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS. The Board of the Civil Contract Party, that is part of the My Step Alliance – the winner of the general election – continues discussions on appointments in governmental positions.

Civil Contract spokesperson Vahan Kostanyan neither denied nor confirmed to ARMENPRESS the reports that culture minister Lilit Makunts will be the My Step faction leader in parliament, and that elected MP Hakob Simidyan will be appointed secretary of the faction.

“There are no clear decisions yet,” Kostanyan said, adding that discussions continue.

My Step Alliance, led by incumbent caretaker PM Nikol Pashinyan, won a landslide 70,44% of votes in the December 9 general election.

Analyst explains CIS leaders’ non-reaction to Pashinyan’s victory by Kocharyan’s arrest

Analyst Stephan Danielyan suggests the absence of congratulations from CIS and CSTO leaders to Nikol Pashinyan on the victory in early parliamentary elections in Armenia is explained by the arrest of the country’s former president Robert Kocharyan.

Danielyan justified his opinion pointing to the fact that no president among former Soviet republics has ever been arrested thus far. “Former president of Kirgizstan Bakiyev found a shelter in Belarus, Ukraine’s Yanukovych – in Russia. Ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili resides in Europe despite the ongoing criminal investigation in the homeland. All these come to conclude there is an unwritten principle among leaders to never arrest former presidents, like the one the Europe had: kings were never killed,” the analyst wrote on his Facebook page.

“No leader of the CIS, EAEU and CSTO has congratulated Pashinyan on the victory. Most probably, this is explained by the arrest of Robert Kocharyan. The matter seems not of political relevance for those leaders but of strictly personal,” Danielyan wrote.

To remind, on December 7, Armenia’s Court of Appeals upheld the first instance court’s ruling to arrest Robert Kocharyan who is accused of overturning the constitutional system during the March 1-2, 2008 post-election events.

    • En 1998 llegó Acapulco para colaborar hasta hace unos años como concertino de recién creada Orquesta Filarmónica de Acapulco.

    Acapulco, Guerrero, 27 de noviembre de 2018. El violinista armenio Rubén Poghosyan, uno de los miembros fundadores de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Acapulco, murió la noche del domingo de causas naturales; tenía 80 años de edad.

    Así lo dio a conocer la Secretaría de Cultura del estado en un breve comunicado donde recuerda, el músico nació en Yerevan, Armenia, el 2 de enero de 1938 e inició sus estudios de violín desde los 7 años en el Conservatorio Nacional de la República Armenia donde recibió su diploma de concertista solista y maestro de violín.

    En 1963 ingresó al doctorado y en 1967 recibió el diploma de doctorado en violín.

    Desde 1960 fue integrante de la Orquesta Sinfónica de la Radio y Televisión Armenia donde destacó como concertino principal.

    Maestro del Conservatorio Nacional de Mongolia de 1964 a 1966, fue seleccionado para dar clases en la Escuela de Arte de Pinar del Río en Cuba y en México trabajó como violinista en la naciente Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México en 1980.

    En 1987 fungió como concertino y solista de la Orquesta de Cámara de la República Armenia siendo de 1988 a 1998 concertino de la Orquesta Nacional de la República Armenia.

    Realizó giras con dicha orquesta en Alemania, Austria, Francia, Suiza, España y Grecia y fue que 1998 llegó Acapulco para colaborar hasta hace unos años como concertino de recién creada Orquesta Filarmónica de Acapulco.

    En los últimos tiempos colaboraba de manera indirecta con la orquesta.

    Le sobreviven su esposa, dos hijos y dos nietos.
