The command of the Armed Forces of Armenia are seriously worried
about the prospect of political activities of the defense minister.

The Lragir has learned that the command of the Armed Forces, as well as
the veterans of the Karabakh war think that the political activities
of the defense minister may threaten the activities of the army,
as well as the defense of the country. They are also worried that
the defense minister is ready to make any deal to come to power,
particularly, in connection with the problem of Karabakh. We have
learned that the army command and the veterans of war are likely to
turn to the intelligentsia to discuss the possible ways of separating
the defense minister from the army.

YEREVAN, AUGUST 9, NOYAN TAPAN. In 2005, Armenian households received
remittances equivalent to about 940 mln USD, 97% of this amount was
in dollars.

Karine Karapetian, head of the Foreign Section Statistics Unit of the
Central Bank of Armenia (CBA’s) Statsitical Department, stated this
during a press conference today. 37% of Armenian households, mainly
citizens of the middle class, whose average monthly income exceeds
the minimum consumer basket of 12,467 drams, receive remittances. The
share of the poor and the extremely poor is large in the number
of remittance recipients, with the extremely poor accounting for
a small part of recipients. According to K. Karapetian, the above
mentioned indices were evaluated as a result of a survey conducted in
February-April 2006. She said that residents of Yerevan make up 34%
of those receiving remittances. Remittances are mainly sent from Russia
(72%) and the US (14%).

Among other countries are Germany, Greece, Ukraine, from which 5% of
remittances come. 31% of remittances are from those engaged in seasonal
work abroad, while 69% – from relatives and other persons living in a
foreign country. The speaker noted that the majority of those who send
remittances to Armenia are engaged in construction and trade abroad.

has five stars yet, says the head of the Tourism Department of the
Trade and Economic Development Ministry of Armenia Mekhak Apressyan.

stable high quality and growing inflow of tourists. Stars help tourists
to choose best hotels – with high quality services and moderate prices.

INTERNET ACCESS PARTIALLY RESUMES IN ARMENIA

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Internet access has partially resumed in Armenia. For
over 6 hours Armenian Internet users were deprived of the opportunity
to view most foreign websites. Internet communication in the republic
is still unstable currently. Earlier Arminco Global Telecommunications
Internet provider company reported that damage of fiber-optic cable
in Georgia had caused the failure. According to the Information Center
of ArmenTel telecommunication company, today at 11:55 a.m. local time
fiber-optic cable was damaged at Kutaisi-Zestafon location in Georgia,
reports Novosti-Armenia.

Armenia is cut off Internet again: cable breakages in Georgia become permanent

Regnum, Russia
Aug 5 2006

For the last 48 hours, the population of Armenia has twice been cut
off the internet, REGNUM correspondent reported from Yerevan on the
telephone. On August 4 and 5, the reason of the breakdowns in the
work of Armenian internet providers became cable failures on the
territory of Georgia.

According to the national ArmenTel Company information holding
exclusive rights on maintaining international telecommunications
in Armenia, the current situation is caused by cable failure in the
Kutaisi region, which resulted in the absence of internet connection
in Armenia for 6 hours. Today, on August 5, cable was also broken
on the Black Sea seabed. No information on when the damage would be
fixed is available so far.

The government of Armenia regards information technologies development
the main priority of the country’s national economy.

Meanwhile, the republic remains in an utterly vulnerable position
since the internet connection is established through the only cable
connecting Armenia via Georgia on the Black Sea seabed to Ukraine. In
the south of Armenia the cable is connected to Iranian communication
network. The current internet connection breakdown is the third
large-scale cable failure that happened lately in Georgia.

Global Gold to Acquire 100% of Tukhmanuk Mine in Armenia

GLOBAL GOLD TO ACQUIRE 100% OF TUKHMANUK MINE IN ARMENIA AHEAD OF
SCHEDULE AND COMMENCES PRODUCTION — GOVERNMENT APPROVES MINING PLAN

MacReport (press release), NY
Aug 3, 2006

GREENWICH, CT–Aug 2, 2006 — Global Gold Corporation (OTC BB:GBGD.OB
– News) () today announced the planned
acquisition of the remaining 49% of Mego-Gold, LLC, the company
holding the licenses to the Tukhmanuk mine and exploration areas in
Armenia. According to the August 1, 2005 acquisition agreement,
Global Gold Mining, LLC acquired a 51% interest for $1.5 million and
was to pay another $2 million by August 1, 2007; the agreement,
amended as of July 19, 2006, allows for the acquisition of the
remaining 49% in exchange for $1 million and 500,000 shares of Global
Gold Corporation’s stock.

The Tukhmanuk property consists of over 4,100 hectares in the Aparan
region. The property hosts numerous quartz veins with gold and
polymetallic mineralization. The presence of the mineralized zones
suggested by the existing maps have been confirmed by field mapping
in the 1st quarter of this year and detailed mapping is ongoing to
define and surface sample the mineralized zones to 1:10,000 scale.

Historical GKZ (State Committee on Reserves) records in the P1, C1
and C2 categories indicate a target of 12.1 million tonnes of
mineralization, averaging 6.74 g/t gold and 30.79 g/t silver,
including 2.6 million oz/gold and 11.9 million oz./silver. Global
Gold is updating the categories of this mineralization.

The existing gravity concentration plant has been serviced and
upgraded to full capacity with the addition of a new drive motor for
the second mill and additional tails recirculation line to attempt to
improve recovery. A fully functional sample preparation facility has
been installed with western standard equipment including AAS (Atomic
Absorption Spectrometry) analysis capability for plant and grade
control samples.

Two Caterpillar 325 excavators, a Caterpillar D9R bulldozer, 2 x 20
tonne GRAZ trucks and a grader have recently been purchased for use
in addition to equipment previously purchased for the open pit mining
of the oxide zone above the Armenian approved C1/C2 category
mineralization. A mining plan has been submitted and approved by the
relevant Armenian Governmental authorities for the mining and
processing of an expected 150,000 tonnes of oxide material over a 2
year period. Production has commenced, and full plant commissioning
is anticipated in October.

Drilling of the C1/C2 category mineralization is also in progress
with a program of 10,000 meters planned to confirm the resource and
carry out western standard reserve/resource estimation at year end;
2,500m of drilling have been completed to date. The terms of the
amended acquisition agreement for Mego-Gold provide for the payment
of the $1 million and delivery of 500,000 shares of Global Gold
Corporation on or before August 19, 2006 and also contain a
contingency allowing the sellers to sell back the 500,000 shares on
or before September 15, 2007 for a payment of $1 million if Global
Gold Corporation stock is not traded at or above $2.50 at any time
between July 1, 2007 and August 31, 2007.

To date, Global Gold has focused its activities at Tukhmanuk,
Hankavan and surrounding areas in the North Central Armenian belt. At
Hankavan, a drill program is underway to follow up on the 2005 drill
program. Global Gold is also conducting exploration at Getik in
Northern Armenia and holds joint venture interests with Iberian
Resources at the southern Armenian Marjan and Litchkvaz projects.

Global Gold Corporation also owns a twenty percent participation
right in any new exploration undertaken in Armenia by Sterlite Gold
Limited or its successors.

Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity key for Karabakh issue – communit

Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity key for Karabakh issue – community leader

ANS TV, Baku
3 Aug 06

If Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity is ensured, then the country
will be satisfied with any other conditions, Nizami Bahmanov, head
of the Azerbaijani community of Nagornyy Karabakh, has said in his
comments on the latest proposals of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.

He said that previously there were discussions around the [Lacin]
corridor, but now the issue of corridor cannot be a topic of
discussions. The talk is about the functional [as heard] road of
Agdam-Xankandi-Susa-Lacin-Gorus. This is the road which will be used
by both Armenians and Azerbaijanis there.

As for the option of a stage-by-stage solution, the latest stage
can concern granting a status. Commenting on the liberation of the
occupied districts, he said that the liberation of Lacin and Kalbacar
districts at the latest stage is a possibility. Asked to what extent
it is correct to station peace-keepers before determining Nagornyy
Karabakh’s status, Bahmanov said that peacekeepers could be deployed
only after the occupation of the territories is over.

The community leader believes that the key problem for resolution of
the Nagornyy Karabakh issue is that the mediators themselves cannot
come to an agreement. In his view, the co-chairs often come up with
new ideas.

Commission for Foreign Relations of USA Senate Again Deferred Consid

COMMISSION FOR FOREIGN RELATIONS OF USA SENATE AGAIN DEFERRED CONSIDERATION OF
ISSUE OF RICHARD HOAGLAND’S APPROVAL TO POSITION OF USA AMBASSADOR TO ARMENIA

Yerevan, August 2. ArmInfo. The Commission for Foreign Relations of the
USA Senate again deferred consideration of issue of Richard Hoagland’s
approval to the position of USA Ambassador to Armenia, "Svoboda"
radio station informs. The candidacy of Hoagland was presented in
May, 2006, by the USA President. According to the source, proposal
of at least one senator was necessary to put off the discussion. The
senators-democrats Josef Biden and John Kerri came out with such a
decision, having expressed their anxiety to the Commission Chairman
Richard Lugar. Biden had stated that a group of senators addressed
him with a call to make this proposal.

The press-secretary of the USA Hay Dat Commission, Elizabeth Chuljyan,
noted that the deferment of discussions means that the senators have
some anxiety regarding the Ambassador John Evan’s resignation, the
USA position in the issue of the Armenian Genocide and Hoagland’s
statements about the Armenian Genocide.
