HIGH MOTIVATION CAN ENSURE ARMENIA’S SUCCESS IN ANY MATCH, SAYS COACH

15:47 ~U 21.10.13

In an interview with the Football Federation of Armenia’s official
website, national team coach Vardan Minasyan has addressed the recent
match against Italy and the Armenian sportsmen’s performance in the
past qualification round

Mr Minasyan, let’s first of all talk of the match with Italy? What
do you think succeeded, and what didn’t?

Everybody knew we had little chances to qualify for the transitional
matches in case of even winning this game. But we nonetheless were
striving for a victory. The most important thing is that we played
without any damage. We had planned to score a rapid goal and exert
pressure from the beginning, but we didn’t manage to. Though we didn’t
win, I consider a drawn match with a team like Italy’s a positive
result. I was quite satisfied with the game quality.

What would have been the match had the rival been more motivated?

I cannot say that as we were thinking more of our game. It isn’t that
they weren’t motivated at all. They too, were testing the abilities
of new footballers whose motivation was very high.

Many people wonder why Vardan Minasyan didn’t feel happy after the
goals, and what he was saying to Robert Arzumanyan following the
first goal.

First, there wasn’t yet anything to be happy for, with the whole game
still being ahead. If my memory doesn’t fail me, I was telling Robert
that it was necessary to take a more compact action.

What was the reason for Levon Hayrapetyan’s replacement?

His edge attacks on our gate had increased in number, so we tried to
refresh the edge to better resist the rival.

The worst match in the qualification round was clearly the one against
Malta. Which one was the best match?

There are a couple of matches, but the most valuable was probably
the meeting with Denmark. Overcoming [the defeat after] the match
with Denmark and playing in such a way had a very big value. We have
celebrated three victories after the match with Malta. We have played
one drawn match and suffered one defeat. This demonstrates the team’s
big will.

Do the victories against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria prove the
team have the psychology of winner?

Yes, the team do have the psychology of winner; they have become
accomplished and have their own style and principles.

Is the success in guest matches due to the fact that we play better
when pursuing the counter-attack tactics or are there any other
reasons?

That’s the main reason. In guest matches, the rival gives us more
spaces for counter-attack, and that’s our strongest side. There is
another strong aspect which may sound strange: the pressure in guest
matches is less than at home. Victory is what our fans expect. That’s
good, of course, but a greater responsibility sometimes prevents
football player from demonstrating their full potential.

Istanbul-Armenians Visit Their Ancestors’ Village In Sasun

ISTANBUL-ARMENIANS VISIT THEIR ANCESTORS’ VILLAGE IN SASUN

17:06, 21 October, 2013

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 21, ARMENPRESS. The Agopian family living in Istanbul
paid a visit to their ancestors’ homeland and lighted candles in
Sasun. As reports “Armenpress” Turkish Haberler.com stated this.

The Agopians paid a visit to the Sasun Province and were hosted in
their forefathers’ village. Here Aiche Agopian preyed for peace in
the world along with his family members. The Agopians underscored
that Sasun is a wonderful place both in the respect of nature and
lifestyle. “I was born in Istanbul, but I always know that I am from
Sasun,” Agopian noted.

Sasun, also known as Sanasun, is one of the cantons of the Aghdznik
province of Greater Armenia (present-day Turkey). Etymologically,
Sasun (Sanassun) derived from Sanassar (name of one of the sons of
the Assyrian King Senekerim who, according to Bible, flew to Armenia
escaping the King Nebuchaddnezzar). The canton was situated on the
wooded slopes of the Armenian Taurus. In different periods of the
Armenian history, the Armenians of Sassun served as example of courage
and stoic resistance to the enemy. Such reputation was reflected in
the David of Sassun, a medieval Armenian epic poem.

Chacun s’enfermait
chez soi. »
Longtemps garagiste, Manouk a dû

partir. »

Styopa Safaryan’s `shocking information’ about Catholicos. `He has
captured public parks.’

October 19 2013

Today, in an interview with the Aravot.am, Secretary-General of
`Heritage’ party Stepan Safaryan told that he is receiving `shocking
information’ about the Catholicos, about the property that he is
trying to obtain through the church. `It is the first time I am
stating about it. I was deeply shocked when I found out that the park
located in Nor Nork 1st district, near Gayi statue belongs to the
Catholicos and the Holy See and it is not under care of the precinct
authorities because it has another owner.’ We clarified whether it has
become the private property of the Catholicos or Etchmiadzin, Stepan
Safaryan replied, `I do not care whether it personally belongs to the
Catholicos or the Holy See. It has become the policy of the Holy See
by the Catholicos, and he has captured the public parks. The
Catholicos displaying such behavior cannot deserve respect, at least
by me, and even if I do not call him a demon, definitely I will not
tell any positive and praising words to his address.’ Styopa Safaryan
also added that he has found out that the Catholicos has captured not
only the park in Yerevan, but also other parks, as well as the
territory of the Institute of Language. `He has just acquired them by
using the state leverages. In the same way, now, the Catholicos, if he
does not want the hatred and criticism against him be continued, he
should be abstained from intervening in secular affairs and statuses
of secular people. It should not be allowed for the Catholicos to use
the Minister of Culture or any other levers to dismiss the author of
criticism unpleasant to him from work. The church, itself, has been
persecuted by the Soviet Union for years. And, nowadays, it seems that
the church seems to be trying to become a persecutor of citizens’ free
speech and free mind. In this regard, it is just condemnable, and I
think that the society will not allow its church to become a devil.’

United States : Eugene Kaspersky Receives Honorary Doctorate and
Discusses Viruses and Cyber Threats in Armenia

Kaspersky Lab today announced that Eugene Kaspersky, Chairman and CEO
of Kaspersky Lab, received an honorary doctorate from the State
Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA), the country s leading
technical university. He was presented with the doctorate for his
outstanding services to science.

During Eugene s visit to Armenia, he and the company s top IT security
experts met with representatives of the education and business
community, as well as students from local technical universities.
During the meetings they discussed current cyber threats in Armenia
and the wider world, and ways to combat these serious threats.

The Chairman and CEO of Kaspersky Lab also took part in the official
opening of the Kaspersky Lab Training and Certification Center within
the State Engineering University of Armenia. The Center will help
bridge the gap between theoretical and practical education, while
allowing students to earn certifications from Kaspersky Lab. It will
also provide future IT security professionals with the tools to gain
essential knowledge about contemporary technologies.

Kaspersky Lab s successful association with Armenia began four years
ago following the signing of a memorandum of understanding, entitled
Safe Armenia, with the Ministry of the Economy. This information
security project led to the implementation of a number of educational
programs in Armenian schools, specialist trainings for IT
administrators in state and commercial organizations, and discounted
licenses for some Kaspersky Lab products used within government
structures.

The relationship between Kaspersky Lab and the State Engineering
University of Armenia began in 2009 when a student of the university
won first prize in that year s edition of the international conference
CyberSecurity for the Next Generation. After that, the university
registered as a member of Kaspersky Lab s educational program and
signed an agreement on cooperation within the Kaspersky Academy
program which still remains in effect. In February 2013, SEUA hosted
the latest regional round of CyberSecurity for the Next Generation for
Russia and other CIS countries.

Paris pupils protest over immigrant expulsion

Paris pupils protest over immigrant expulsion

by Adam Sage

Thousands of pupils blocked their schools and held demonstrations
yesterday in protest at the expulsion from France of a 15-year-old
Roma immigrant (Adam Sage writes).

Pupils placed barriers in front of 20 lycées in Paris to express their
fury over the fate of Leonarda Dibrani, who was sent back to Kosovo
with her mother and five siblings last week.

Their anger was fuelled by the disclosure that a second student,
Khatchik Kachatryan, 19, was returned to Armenia on Saturday.

Up to 7,000 students took part in a protest march outside the offices
of Manuel Valls, the Interior Minister, who has infuriated sections of
the ruling Socialist Party by taking a tough line on immigration.

“Khatchik in France, Valls in Armenia,” chanted the protesters, who
threw stones at the police.

In a sign of the Government’s nervousness, Jean-Marc Ayrault, the
Prime Minister, hinted that he might allow Leonarda, left, to return.
He said that the Government would “assume its responsibilities”
following an inquiry into her expulsion.

François Baroin, a former Finance Minister, said that Mr Valls would
have no option but to resign if Leonarda came back.

Leonarda was removed from a bus during a school outing and driven to
the airport to join her family, who had been arrested at their home.
The decision to detain her during a school trip provoked indignation
among teachers, who launched the campaign to bring her back to France.

Her family arrived in France in 2009 but failed to obtain asylum.
Reset Dibrani, 47, her father, was returned to Kosovo earlier this
month.
