PanARMENIAN.Net – The row over the dismissal of Yerevan State
Linguistic University (YSLU) rector Suren Zolyan from position may
seriously affect the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) during
the forthcoming parliamentary elections, political analyst said.

As Stepan Grigoryan told a press conference, the conflict between Mr.

Zolyan and Armenian Education Minister Armen Ashotyan may cost RPA
minimum 30-40 thousand votes.

“Though the conflict didn’t bear political character, it will seriously
affect RPA in the eyes of public,” the expert said.

On April 17, Armenian Minister Ashotyan signed a decree to dismiss
YSLU rector Suren Zolyan; following it, the university’s students
waged a protest action to oppose the decision.

Military expert David Jamalyan spoke about the cases of ceasefire
violation by Azerbaijan registered on April 25. “It was a demonstration
of purposeful aggression against the republic of Armenian and our
civilian population,” David Jamalyan said.

“The Azerbaijani army purposefully opened fire in the direction of
a civilian settlement, particularly a kinderkarten. I would like to
stress that the civilian objects and especially kindergartens cannot
be military targets. There has been a change in the actions of the
Azerbaijani state, of their army. There are signs of aggression against
the civilian population, and this is worrisome,” David Jamalyan added.

According to the Press Service of the Ministry of Defense, violation
of the ceasefire regime was registered at the northeastern part of
the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on April 25. The Azerbaijani side
opened fire in the direction of Dovegh village in Tavush marz from
weapons of different caliber. The kindergarten of the village and
the Gaz 53 vehicle parked next to the building were damaged.

Press and Propaganda Department of the NKR Defense Army reported
today that servicemen of the Andranik Madoyan and Ernest Sargsyan
were wounded as a result of firing on April 24.

Assuming UN Security Council Chairmanship In May Azerbaijan Will Fai

ASSUMING UN SECURITY COUNCIL CHAIRMANSHIP IN MAY AZERBAIJAN WILL FAIL TO DISHARMONIZE SECURITY COUNCIL AND OSCE MG

Baku will fail to use the UN Security Council tribune against the OSCE
Minsk Group that is in charge of the Karabakh conflict’s resolution
and resolve the conflict within its own interests. Richard Giragosian,
Head of the Center for Regional Studies, made such statement in an
interview with ArmInfo.

Azerbaijan, a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, will
assume the chairmanship of the Security Council in May. Chairs of the
Security Council are changed every month in the alphabetical order. A
chair-country’s activity is often carried out behind-the-scenes in
consultations with 15 member-countries, particularly, five permanent
member-states: Great Britain, China, France, Russia and the USA.

These countries have a right to veto any suggestions or initiatives.

Baku will, indeed, try to use the UN Security Council tribune to
resolve the Karabakh conflict, but it will fail to disharmonize the
OSCE MG and Security Council because other members of the Security
Council will prevent such developments, undoubtedly, Giragosian said.

The analyst said that the Armenian authorities must be extremely
autious as Baku will preside over the Security Council starting May
1 and will use it as a place to make diplomatic attacks on Yerevan
and Stepanakert.

It is not yet clear how far Azerbaijan will go in its ideas related
to Nagorno-Karabakh. The UN Security Council chairmanship will, sure,
give it certain opportunities to influence the agenda of the Security
Council. The countries that previously tried to use their month-long
chairmanship of the Security Council to promote their own interests
not only suffered failures but also became quite unpopular at the
Council, which later affected their post-chairmanship operation at
the UN either.

Javakhk Schoolchildren Banned From Genocide Commemoration Events

JAVAKHK SCHOOLCHILDREN BANNED FROM GENOCIDE COMMEMORATION EVENTS

PanARMENIAN.Net – On the eve of April 24, commemoration day of the
Armenian Genocide, all directors of Armenian schools in Georgia’s
Armenian region of Javakhk were invited to Akhaltskha’s Resource
Center and pressed to abstain from participation in mournful events
on April 24.

“Following the memorial liturgy in St. Gregory Illuminator Church,
the mournful procession headed for Khachkar memorial erected to
commemorate millions of the Armenian Genocide victims. On its way,
the participants approached the Armenian school which hosted young
people scanning anti-Turkish slogans,” press center of National
Council of Javakhk Armenians said in its statement.

“Doors of the schools were immediately blocked, and children were not
allowed to go out. The teachers assumed the role of police inspectors,
while the kids were jumping out of the windows to visit the Khachkar
after the commemoration ceremony was over.

It is worth noting that the Armenian school hosted no events dedicated
to the Genocide commemoration, while all other state events are
largely celebrated in this very school.

In many cases, much depends on the school management, which now opted
for such approach, damaging the young generation and enrooting blind
obedience and servility in them,” the Armenian community said.

Under current circumstances, activities of the government, as well
as the school management and teacher staff are extremely immoral.

Georgian authorities infringed upon Javakhk’s indigenous people’s
expression of their national identity, and this cannot remain
unpunished, the statement concluded.

YOU CANNOT JUST GATHER EXPERTS, ORDER FOR ARMENIA’S BRAND – SPECIALIST

April 26, 2012 | 08:01

YEREVAN. – A country’s brand must serve as a symbol of that idea which
reflects and characterizes the residents of the given country. This
was told to Armenian News-NEWS.am by Alexander Grand, Chairman and Head
of Strategy at INSTID branding agency, who is in Armenia to attend the
“Brands and Business” international conference.

Speaking about the brands of a variety of countries, the expert
stressed that brands should not be created artificially.

“You cannot just gather experts who will think about and ultimately
invent a brand. You need to look among the people as to what
characterizes them, to see what symbol is connected with that, and
to build a brand based on it,” Grand noted.

“It is necessary that they must have the correct ‘sensation’ in the
direction we need when hearing the word ‘Armenia.’ You must create
your country’s brand in order to receive that direction. In the case
of correct brand, the country will truly implement its capacity,”
said Alexander Grand.

intellectuels armeniens a Constantinople.
