Businessman Bidzna Ivanishvili calls for Georgia’s president Mikheil
Saakashvili resignation . This is stated in the businessman’s open
letter. He also notes that he first advised Saakashvili to resign
in 2008, 2-3 months after the war broke out, “when the country was
threatened by turmoil and chaos”.

Ivanishvili considers that the Georgian people are magnanimous and
forgiving and they will forgive the president of his faults. In
his letter to Saakashvili in 2008, Ivanishvili wrote to him that
resignation would give him an opportunity not only to proceed with
living in Georgia, but continue political activities as well. ”
Misha, you are the one who made an oath on Aghmashenebeli’s grave
when you came to power, thus indicating that you were intending to
be like Aghmashenebeli for your country; the time passed though and
you approached Brezhnev’s era. Your last meeting with the inhabitants
of Telavi is proof of this. Hired people were applauding you in the
name of Kakhetians”, Ivanishvili’s statement reads.

The businessman also notes that Saakashvili along with his team
have assaulted the most sacred for a Georgian – the church and the
patriarch, this wise man was put into a difficult situation.

“Instead of helping patriarch, you started seeking for mean people
inside the church and then bribing them. Stop Misha, you are standing
at the edge of the abyss, stop! I have never given you advice according
to my personal interests, so now I am telling you for your interests-
resign!”, states Bidzina Ivanishvili.

Russia’s Putin Expects To Agree China Gas Deal

RUSSIA’S PUTIN EXPECTS TO AGREE CHINA GAS DEAL

Tert.am

Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin (L) has confirmed Russia
is close to sealing an energy supply agreement with China worth $1
trillion, CNN reported.

“It’s fair to say that we’re very close to reach an agreement on the
natural gas deal,” Putin told journalists at a joint press conference
after meeting with Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao (R).

Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a two-day visit. He also met
with President Hu Jintao and other Chinese leaders on Wednesday.

The negotiations over the natural gas supply had stalled for more
than a year due to disagreements over price.

If an agreement can be reached, the deal would see Russia supply
China with up to 68 billion cubic meters of gas every year.

“The trade volume will increase significantly, and this will change
the fact that the economic cooperation between the two countries lags
behind the political cooperation,” said Zhao Huasheng, director of
the Center for Russia and Central Asia Studies at Fudan University.

“Together with cooperation in other economic fields, China and Russia
will become real strategic partners in economic terms,” he added.

Recent years have seen a steady increase in trade between the two
countries.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, bilateral trade volume
in the year to July increased by 37.4% to a record $42.2 billion. The
ministry forecasts that this will reach a new record in 2011–
possibly in excess of $70 billion.

“The economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has
reached to an unprecedented level,” Putin said in an interview with
the state-run Xinhua agency.

But energy cooperation stands out as the main focus between Russia, a
major energy exporter, and China, the world’s biggest energy consumer,
according to a 2010 report from the International Energy Agency.

Putin has also brought along a group of 160 Russian business leaders
for the visit, including the CEOs of Russian energy giants Gazprom,
Rosneft and aluminum producer UC RUSAL.

DAIRY COMPANIES REQUIRED TO INDICATE WHETHER THEIR PRODUCTS MADE OF MILK POWDER

ARKA
Oct 12, 2011

YEREVAN, October 12. /ARKA/. Armenian agriculture minister Sergo
Karapetian said today beginning next year all local dairy companies
will be required to indicate whether their products contain milk
powder According to some estimates, some 80% of dairy products here
are produced from milk powder.

“The is an issue of concern as large quantities of milk powder are
imported to the country for production of dairy products. This is why
together with Food Safety Service we have developed a new concept,
which the government has approved requiring a mandatory notice by
the manufacturers whether their products are made of milk powder.

Karapetian said the ministry will follow closely so that dairy
companies indicate the potion of powder milk in their products. He
said a dairy product with high percentage of dry milk should be called
milky drink.

“Milk powder is used all over the world and its is not easy to
regulate this process. It is up to consumers to decide what kind of
a product they prefer. The difference in price should be significant,
as products made of wholesale milk are more expensive,” he said.

The minister also said that milk procurement prices have increased
over the last several months from 100 to 150-180 AMD per liter,
partly due to high-priced animal feed.

According to the National Statistical Service, in January-August
this year 277.9 million liters of milk were produced in Armenia,
by 1% more from the same period of 2010, 2,244.8 tons of matsoon
(an increase of 8.2%) , 1,869.5 tons of sour cream (an 8% decline)
and 590.3 tons of cheese (a 21.5% rise). ($ 1 – 376.09 drams).
