Efforts to raise awareness about Azerbaijan in Europe should be
intensified with the Karabakh issue being priority in this regard.

The remarks came from Osman Elmaci, political expert, activist of
the Christian Democratic Party of Netherlands, former candidate for
the European Parliament.

‘The attention towards the Karabakh issue has increased in Europe
compared to previous years. The political parties now pay attention
to Karabakh issue trying to understand the essence of the conflict.

Members of the European Parliament and politicians accept Azerbaijan
as a right side in the Karabakh conflict. This is very crucial issue
and it should be promoted,’ the expert said.

‘The European Union is interested in stability in Caucasus. The
stability in the region depends on resolution of the Karabakh conflict
and peace in the region will be built on solid foundations after that,’
Elmaci noted.

Kamer Kasim Armenia`s aggression hampers solution of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Armenia`s territorial claims against Turkey and its refusal
to recognize the Kars treaty is an impediment to diplomatic
relations between the two countries, Deputy Chairman of the Turkey`s
International Strategic Research Organization Kamer Kasim underlined
in his article titled “What Sarkisyan said… “.

Commenting on recent statement of Armenian president, Kasim noted
it is not a new trend in “Armenian diplomacy”. Armenian leadership`s
efforts to routinely raise “genocide” and Nagorno-Karabakh claims are
the evidence of their being insincere in normalization of relationship.

Kasim underscored Armenia`s aggression hampers solution of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and increases this country`s dependency
on Russia.

The author pointed out conflicts can flare up any time in the area
where generations, who are full of hatred live. He cited Russia-Georgia
armed conflict as an example.

AZERBAIJANI SINGER FORCED TO REMOVE ARMENIAN FRIEND FROM FACEBOOK FRIENDS’ LIST

Photos of Aynishan Guliyeva (pictured, second from left, second
row), Azerbaijan’s contestant in the 20th International Performers
Contest at the Slavianski Bazaar alongside Armenia’s contestant Narek
Makaryan (pictured, in purple tie) resulted in a wave of discontent
by internet users.

According to Aze.az, Guliyeva was forced to remove Makaryan from
her list of Facebook friends. Guliyeva’s mother, Aybaniz Gashimova,
who accompanied her daughter to the song contest in Vitebsk, tried
to justify and explain how it came to be that her daughter was in a
photo with an Armenian.

“This Armenian boy expressed his love for Azerbaijan; the organizers
were constantly putting him next to Aynishan. We are a peace-loving
people; we couldn’t drive him away from us – the participants and
guests of the festival saw everything. That Aynishan was photographed
with an Armenian doesn’t mean we have forgotten our martyrs. No! Our
family has experienced great sorrow, but we have shown peacefulness.

We could not push him away or be rude and thus disgrace our country,”
said Gashimova, reports Aze.az.

Azerbaijani Analyst Foresees Change Of Power In Armenia

AZERBAIJANI ANALYST FORESEES CHANGE OF POWER IN ARMENIA

Armenia is highly likely to see a change in power in the near future,
an Azerbaijani political analyst has said.

In an interview with Tert.am Rasim Musabekov said that the change
of power will not take place through revolution, but rather through
an agreement.

“It looks like Armenia’s former president, the current opposition
leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan intends to reach some kind of agreement with
[incumbent president] Serzh Sargsyan,” said Musabekov.

“In all probability, either a coalition will be formed within that
agreement or parliamentary elections will be staged,” said he.

According to him, if parliamentary elections are held, the Armenian
Revolutionary Federation and Heritage parties will be left out
of the parliament, while Ter-Petrosyan’s supporters will gain a
majority there.

“That is a more probable scenario,” said Musabekov, adding that in
that case Armenia’s entire cabinet might change.

“Armenia’s current Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan is not that much
respected,” Musabekov added.

Azerbaijan Finds New Springboard For Anti-Armenian Propaganda – Indo

AZERBAIJAN FINDS NEW SPRINGBOARD FOR ANTI-ARMENIAN PROPAGANDA – INDONESIA

PanARMENIAN.Net

PanARMENIAN.Net – Azerbaijan engages new countries in its Anti-Armenian
propaganda , regardless of their geographic location and significance.

This time the choice stopped on Indonesia. How many Indonesian will
be able to show South Caucasus on the map, let alone Azerbaijan;
however this does not matter for Baku, as this is a “white field”
which can be used for upbringing Anti-Armenian propaganda.

Azeri media outlets solemnly announced that the Parliament of Indonesia
plans creation of a special task force on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
aimed to raise “true awareness” of Indonesian population on this
problem. Before that, Embassy of Azerbaijan carried out a tour of
meetings in Universities and Parliament of that country with this
purpose.

It is unknown, why Indonesian students and Parliamentarians need
information on Nagorno Karabakh, let alone Azeri variant of ‘true
information’, strongly deferring from reality. Moreover, Azeri Embassy
arranged hearings on Karabakh problem in the Indonesian Parliament. We
shall try to find out on the results of hearings contacting with the
representatives of Indonesia; it is not worthy traditionally to rely
on Azeri press information in this issue.

According to Charge d’affaires of Azerbaijan in Indonesia Farid
Talybov, Indonesia always “demonstrated solidarity with Azerbaijan’s
stand” in Karabakh issue. How Jakarta may help Azerbaijan in the fight
against Armenia, in which for Baku “everything was fair in love and
war”? Only by giving +1 vote in next Anti-Armenian resolutions in UN
and Organization of Islamic Conference to which Baku is affiliated to.

But these resolutions are not significant, as it is known, as they
carry reference character. Nevertheless, Azerbaijan continues its
“propagandist expansion” globally, hypothetically, based on principle:
“everything is useful in the household”.

Turkey May Be Involved In Syrian War

TURKEY MAY BE INVOLVED IN SYRIAN WAR

PanARMENIAN.Net
August 3, 2011

PanARMENIAN.Net – A newly assertive Turkey could be sucked into a
regional war in Syria, a conflict compared to which Libyan hostilities
look like a walk on the beach, The Times reports.

Turkey’s Islamist Government has been toughening its position on
Syrian regime whom, until recently, it considered a friend, according
to journalist James Bone.

“Turkey’s army, the second-largest in NATO, according to some data,
elaborated an emergency plan of creating ‘buffer zone’ on the territory
of its former colony. This step will be equivalent to encroachment,”
the article reads.

Possibly, in future Syria will fall under influence of Sunnis and
become Turkey’s vassal again thus displeasing Iran, Alawis and
Hezbollah.

According to information, Iran directed militia to support Syrian
intelligence, according to the article.

Syrians running towards the Turkish border rise Turkish flags and
outcry “Only Allah and Erdogan can rescue us.”

“Despite colossal risk, the seduction to mediate for the sake of
Sunnis rescue may be irresistible for Turkey,” the article concludes.

Baku Suggests Immediately Moving To Peace Agreement – Ahmedoglu

BAKU SUGGESTS IMMEDIATELY MOVING TO PEACE AGREEMENT – AHMEDOGLU

Azerbaijan suggests immediately moving to the preparation of a peace
agreement without signing a framework agreement, an Azerbaijani
political analyst has said.

Speaking to the Azerbaijani news website SalamNews, Mubariz Ahmedoglu,
who is also the head of the Centre for Political Innovations and
Technologies, said that initially the negotiations’ process was moving
to a big peace agreement.

“Afterwards, the mediators, adopting a pro-Armenian position, divided
the process into three stages. That was clearly seen in the statement
adopted by the leaders of the co-chairing countries in Deauville,”
said he.

“However, Armenia rejected that too as its goal is goal is the
preservation of the status quo rather than the settlement of the
conflict,” Ahmedoglu explained.

Commenting on the trilateral meeting in Kazan, he said that the
documents presented to the Armenia and Azerbaijani presidents was
different from the previously discussed versions.

“The changes and the corrections proposed in the documents eliminated
ambiguities,” said he.

“The recent processes show how wrong Turkey’s policy of rapprochement
with Armenia was”

Istanbul. Mayis Alizadeh – APA. “Encouraged by some actions of the
separatists in Turkey, Armenia has recently made senseless statements.

But one must not forget that Turkey is not a weak country that
will give way to the separatists and senseless Armenian claims,”
former head of Turkish Historical Society, parliamentarian from the
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), professor Yusuf Halacoglu told
APA’s Turkey bureau.

He said Armenia does not know what to do.

“The US does not support Armenia concerning “genocide” any more,
because the US needs Turkey more in order to solve the problems
in the Middle East. Therefore, Armenia’s “Agri Dagh illusions”
are meaningless. These processes show how wrong Turkey’s policy of
rapprochement with Armenia was. Actually, these processes strengthen
the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan. Maybe it is for the
better. So, let them make senseless statements. One of the major
issues is that Azerbaijan should benefit from this situation.

Azerbaijan should complete the development of its economy. You know
that economic power of a country means its political power. In this
respect, Azerbaijan, which is strengthening its economy, is on the
right way. Every country, which is in danger of economic collapse,
sooner or later feels the need for its neighbors. For example Greece,
they sell islands. Armenia will be in worse condition. Armenia has
problems with all of its neighbors with which it could establish
economic relations – with the exception of Iran. There is a need to
establish new joint organizations. Enhancement of the relations between
Turkey and Azerbaijan is of great importance in this respect,” he said.

The Armenian press reported disagreement sometimes escalating into
clashes between the Chief of the Police of Armenia, Alik Sargysan,
and the Chief of the Police of Yerevan, Nerses Nazaryan, since
Alik Sargsyan’s appointment. For example, recently, Alik Sargsyan
reportedly said during the meeting of the college of the Police that
some people pay journalists to publish articles against the Police
representatives. He meant Nerses Nazaryan.

Usually, in democratic countries, the law-enforcement bodies have
controversies which enable balance within the security system and
exclude strengthening of one of the bodies, which eventually leads to
coups. But “two heads” for one body is too many. It prevents efficient
functioning of the system which can be proven by the current situation
in the Police of Armenia.

For its part, another situation is observed in Armenia when different
departments of different law-enforcement bodies “speak the same
language” and, accordingly, support each other in some questions,
which promotes degradation of the law enforcement system.

Certainly, internal departmental controversies sometimes result
in information leaks, which are interesting to the press and to
the readers but, as a rule, they concern “minor problems”, without
touching serious systemic problems.

The press alternately reports Alik Sargsyan’s and Nerses Nazaryan’s
possible resignation. Perhaps, it is time to dismiss both, in case
there is a wish to have the Armenian Police deal with its functions
set down in the Constitution.
