YEREVAN

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS: The Left Party of Germany
welcomes the position of the European Parliament, according to
which the recognition of the Armenian Genocide is considered to be a
precondition for Turkey~Rs European integration. This was reported
by Armenpress, quoting the official website of the Left Party of
Germany, which published the announcement of the President of the
German Parliament Martin Shultz, saying in particular that Turkey
should face the history.

The President of the German Parliament Martin Shultz stated about
it at the meeting with the Turkish State Minister and the Minister
for the EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis. They talked
about the official role of Turkey in Syria, visa issues and Turkey~Rs
possible membership in the European Union.

Martin Shultz and Egemen Bagis spoke also on the Armenian Genocide
issue, as well as the new bill initiated by the French Senate on the
Armenian Genocide.

Nevertheless at the press conference held at the European Parliament,
Bagis did not answer the question on the Armenian Genocide and his
comments and analysis made in Switzerland. He said that Switzerland
was not an EU member and ~SI will not spend a single second to speak
about issues, which do not concern the European Union~T.

Martin Shultz in his turn highlighted the clear position of the
European Parliament, according to which an appeal had been made since
2005 by the adopted decree that ~STurkey should recognize the Armenian
Genocide and it would be considered as a precondition to enter the
European Union~T.

In his website the German Left Party, besides this announcement,
published also an article about its own position welcoming the
announcement.

VARDAN AYVAZYAN HAS NO INTENTION TO PAY USD 37 MLN TO GLOBAL GOLD MINING

arminfo
Monday, September 17, 09:46

In a conversation with ArmInfo’s correspondent, Vardan Ayvazyan,
ex- Minister of Nature Protection of Armenia, currently Head of the
Armenian Parliamentary Commission on Economic Issues, member of the
ruling Republican Party of Armenia, says that the judgment of the
United States District Court for the Southern District of New York
causes his irony.

To note, the United States Marshal Service for the Southern District of
New York filed for service a Writ of Execution to be enforced against
Vardan Ayvazyan in favor of Global Gold Mining LLC (GGM). The Writ
of Execution was issued by the United States District Court for the
Southern District of New York following the order and judgment of
Judge J. Paul Oetken. The amount of the fine is USD 37 mln.

Ayvazyan says that he is not going to “obey” the judgment of the
Court and to pay the fine. He categorically refutes GGM’s bribery
accusations against him.

To recall, GGM applied to the United States District Court for the
Southern District of New York against Vardan Ayvazyan, who demanded
a USD 3 mln bribe from GGM. Having failed to carry out Ayvazyan’s
demand, the Company lost its license to develop the deposit in
Hankavan. Thereby, the company suffered USD 27 mln losses. The Company
reported this situation to the appropriate authorities in Armenia
and in the United States, however, the license was not restored.

Turquie: un journaliste renommé publie un livre admettant un génocid

Turquie: un journaliste renommé publie un livre admettant un génocide arménien

: ISTANBUL 13 sept 2012

BAKU: Azerbaijani Ruling Party Appeals To European Parliament

AZERBAIJANI RULING PARTY APPEALS TO EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Trend
Sept 14 2012
Azerbaijan

The ruling New Azerbaijan Party and the Azerbaijani public are
concerned and sorry about the provisions reflected in the European
parliament’s resolution on Azerbaijan and the extradition of Ramil
Safarov, which was passed on September 13, the official website of
the party said today.

The ruling party sent an appeal to the European Parliament in
connection with this document.

“While extraditing and pardoning Azerbaijani army officer Ramil
Safarov, Azerbaijan remains true to the principles and norms of
international law,” the ruling party’s statement to the European
parliament said.

The concerns of the Azerbaijani public, who protested the resolution
of the European Parliament, are reflected in the appeal.

“The position reflected in the document is biased and prejudiced,
we are concerned by the fact that this document may exacerbate the
situation in the region, and we hope that parliamentarians will
comprehensively examine the problem while taking further action on
such a sensitive issue,” the statement said.

On Thursday, the European parliament adopted a resolution with regard
to Ramil Safarov’s extradition to Azerbaijan and his pardoning by
the president.

The resolution regretted that Safarov was received as a hero at home,
and expressed concern that this may lead to increasing tensions
between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

MEPs Deplore Presidential Pardon Granted To Ramil Safarov

AZERBAIJAN: MEPS DEPLORE PRESIDENTIAL PARDON GRANTED TO RAMIL SAFAROV

ENPI Info Centre
Sept 14 2012

In a resolution passed on 13 September, the European Parliament
deplored the pardon granted by President Aliyev of Azerbaijan to Ramil
Safarov, on his transfer to Azerbaijan from Hungary, where he had been
sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of an Armenian
colleague in 2004, and the hero’s welcome accorded to Safarov on his
return to Azerbaijan.

MEPs fear this could further inflame tensions between Azerbaijan and
Armenia and jeopardise “all peaceful reconciliation processes”. They
say that the “legitimate frustration in Azerbaijan and Armenia” at the
lack of substantial progress in the peace process in Nagorno-Karabakh
“does not justify either acts of revenge or futile provocations”.

They call on the EU to play more of a role in the settlement of
the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. Parliament also says that the
association agreement being negotiated between the EU and Azerbaijan
should include human rights and rule-of-law clauses and benchmarks.

GEORGIAN AUTHORITIES DEVOID ARMENIANS IN JAVAKHK TO PARTICIPATE IN ELECTORAL PROCESSES

September 14, 2012 | 17:41

TBILISI. – “Yerkir” Union of Public Organizations on repatriation
and development released a statement in connection with the upcoming
parliamentary elections scheduled for Oct. 1.

The election process in Javakhk proceeds in its consistent policy
of the Georgian authorities flouting of basic political and civil
rights of the Javakhk Armenians. In particular, there is a norm which
prohibits establishment of regional political organizations. According
to it, political parties presenting the interests of the Armenian
population are devoid of registration and participation in the
elections, the statement sent to the Armenian News-NEWS.am reads.

Hence, the Armenian population in Javakhk currently has no opportunity
to fully participate in the election processes anyway, as it is devoid
of the right to express political will and build its future through
free, fair and competitive elections.

ARMENIA AMONG SAFEST ANTI-TERRORIST STATES – NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL

PanARMENIAN.Net
September 14, 2012 – 17:13 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – The National Security Council secretary commented
on Armenia’s inclusion on a list of 40 most dangerous countries for
Americans to visit.

“Armenia is a very safe county from the viewpoint of security and
counter-terrorism activities, as noted in NATO and EU official
documents, stressing the country’s progress in a struggle against
terrorism,” Artur Baghdasaryan said.

“Armenia has never been accused of ties with terrorist organizations,
or included in any terrorism-related international reports,” the
official said.

According to Baghdasaryan, a special interdepartmental committee for
struggle against terrorism, as well as a counter-terrorism national
program have been created, with “Armenia having no reason for concern.”
