Turkish municipality destroys monument of Armenian musician, composer

Turkey’s Yalova City Hall completely disassembled the monument devoted
to renowned Armenian musician and composer Hovhannes Tuncboyaciyan
(Onno Tunc), who was the older brother of musician Arto Tuncboyaciyan.

The monument, which was erected in 2002 and in honor of Tuncboyaciyan
who had died in a plane crash sixteen years ago, was subjected to
numerous vandalism over the course of the years. And fifteen days ago,
unidentified people had taken out the letters on the monument, Radikal
daily of Turkey writes.

Yalova Mayor informed that it was decided to dismantle the monument,
since it was in a disastrous condition. He claimed to have spoken with
Onno’s family members and the monument’s sculptor, and said that a
more beautiful monument would be erected in two months.

Heritage Party joins 6 political forces’ letter to Armenian National
Security Service

YEREVAN. – Armenian opposition Heritage Party’s parliamentary election
campaign headquarters issued a statement whereby it informed about the
Party’s joining the letter sent to the National Security Service.

`Heritage’s Campaign Headquarters joins the letter by the six
[political] parties that will run in the elections, whereby the
National Security Service is proposed to enable one representative
each from these parties to make use of the SECT [computer] system, in
order to verify the computer data on the citizens who, according to
their information, took part in the voting.

We guarantee that the computer data will be solely used for two
objectives: a) filing a claim to invalidate the election results; and
b) petitioning to the Police so as to bring precinct election
commission members to account,’ the statement specifically reads.

Co-chairs’ statement not to reveal addressee provoking unrest

`It’s time for the co-chairs to calls the things by their names,
otherwise such statements create fertile ground for Azerbaijan’s
provocations,’ expert Edgar Hovhannisyan said.

Azerbaijani armed forces intensively violated the ceasefire regime
last week along the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani and
Karabakh-Azerbaijani border. In the aftermath of the intensive gunfire
three Armenian soldiers were killed, two injured. The rival also fired
towards a civilian village.

The OSCE Minsk group co-chairs released a statement yesterday which
particularly says such senseless acts violate the commitment of the
parties to refrain from the use of force and to seek a peaceful
settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and contradict the spirit
of the January 23, 2012, joint statement of Presidents Aliyev and
Sargsian.

According to the expert such duty statements don’t contribute to
easing tensions at the front line, since Azerbaijan carries out more
provocative operations.

`Knowing the truth and reading the statement of the co-chairs you see
that it’s not underlined who has violated the ceasefire regime and who
is responsible for the human losses,’ said the expert.

E. Hovhannisyan said talks about stability are impossible unless the
addressee is highlighted.

Jazz evening at Cascade Complex to mark International Jazz Day

Today is International Jazz Day. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan has a
surprise for Armenian jazz lovers and tourists: today the Cascade
Complex will host a great jazz evening.

The concert will feature the best Armenian and world jazz pieces by
Armenian jazzmen. The jazz event will kick off at 20:00 and will
continue until late night.

Tigran Karapetyan who is trying to play the role of Armenian
Zhirinovsky, stated that all the political forces of Armenia work for
foreign intelligence. Heritage works for the CIA, the rest work for
the KGB.

These political forces have not publicly denied his allegations,
apparently in order not to make it serious. But the residue is left.
Is really everything in Armenia done by the order of foreign
intelligence? Are there political forces which work outside the
West-Russia intelligence confrontation and for the sake of Armenia’s
sovereignty? Who benefits when foreign intelligence is blamed for all
the disgrace of Armenia?

This total spy mania shows that everything in Armenia is considered
through this prism. Citizens who stood up against illegal construction
in Mashtots Park are also allegedly carrying out someone’s orders. It
is true that no one can tell whose `project’ this is but most people
who are used to seeing spies everywhere urge not to believe them
because it is a staged performance, and it is all about the election.

Nobody can answer the question how the citizens protesting for the
protection of Mashtots Park are connected with the elections, everyone
shakes they head indicating that everything is planned there.

This is the worst thing that the so-called elite could do with the
Armenian society, turning them members into weak creatures who cannot
even dare make their own decisions. Everything is done for you, you do
not decide, we do not decide anything ourselves, many members of the
elite say, pointing their hand in the direction of Moscow or a `global
government’. Do you think it is easy to talk to the Russian president?
Serzh Sargsyan complains.

As a result of this weakness the Armenian men cannot take decisions
even regarding their own families. They cannot refuse to attend the
campaign rallies of the president because they can see an endless
chain of `sharp-eye’ bosses. They cannot stop a brazen oligarch who
builds a tall building between two houses.

Are the CIA or KGB to blame if the Armenian employers force their
employees to work for 12 hours a day, paying them AMD 70 thousand a
month, without signing a contract with them and hence depriving them
of their future pension? Are the CIA or KGB to blame that Armenia has
been paying pensions to thousands of people who died years ago while
the head of the social security fund has not even been held
responsible.

Of course, there is foreign intelligence and influence agents but the
level of their influence depends on whether people in Armenia will
learn making decisions. It is time to take off the glasses and
understand that spy mania is mentioned on purpose to tie up our hands.
Although, some people may benefit from tied hands, thus justifying
their inaction.

Refereeing to their own sources, some media and social networks
disseminate misinformation on exchange of fire at different parts of
the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, cases of ceasefire violation, victims
as a result of shooting in the direction o Armenian positions and
settlement,’ the Armenian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The ministry advises verify the authenticity of such information at
the Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry y of
Defense, not to disseminate unchecked information to avoid aggravating
the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani line of contact.

French school caricature on Turkey is now in color

The color version of a caricature, which a teacher in Anatole France
School in Montbéliard, France, had showed to the students, is now on
the Internet, Dogan News Agency of Turkey informs, and it stresses
that the Armenian online news media have widely covered this
caricature and its story.

To note, the aforesaid teacher showed a caricature which depicted a
mustached man – representing Turkey – carrying a sack full of human
skulls. The sack symbolizes Turkey carrying the skulls with the
inscription: `Armenian Genocide.’ The person standing nearby
represents France. The man with the sack is climbing the mountain with
an EU flag on top.

The teacher showed this caricature and asked how the students can
interpret it and why Turkey cannot join the EU.

Turquie : Harcelé par le régime, le pianiste Fazil Say décide de s’exiler

Fazil Say, compositeur et pianiste turc de renom international, a
annoncé qu’il avait décidé de s’exiler au Japon, s’inquiétant de la
montée d’un conservatisme islamiste opéré par le régime turc, dans un
entretien au journal Hürriyet publié lundi.

`J’ai été exclu à 100% (de la société turque). Je pense qu’il est
temps pour moi de m’installer au Japon`, a indiqué l’un des plus
grands talents contemporains de Turquie et porte-parole des milieux
laïcs, se disant victime d’une intolérance sociale et d’une censure du
régime sur ses oeuvres.

`Quand j’ai dis que j’étais athée (…) on m’a insulté. La justice a
été saisie sur ce que j’ai écrit sur Twitter. Je suis peut-être la
première personne au monde à faire l’objet d’une enquête en justice
pour avoir déclaré mon athéisme`, a-t-il dit.

Le pianiste avait récemment attiré les foudres des conservateurs en
Turquie par des messages avec une pointe de provocation sur l’Islam
sur Twitter. Un influent député du parti issu de la mouvance islamiste
au pouvoir, (AKP, Parti de la justice et du développement), Samil
Tayyar, lui avait répondu en insultant ouvertement sa mère `sortie
d’un bordel`, provoquant des remous dans la classe politique, la
presse et les réseaux sociaux.

`Si je suis condamné à la prison, ma carrière sera terminée`, a ajouté
le musicien gé de 41 ans qui passe une grande partie de son temps
entre deux continents.

Dans le passé, il avait déclaré quen Turquie où les épouses de presque
tous les ministres portent aujourdhui le voile islamique, les laïcs
devenus minoritaires subissent la pression de la majorité qui cherche
à imposer à tous, de plus en plus ouvertement, un mode de vie
traditionnel basé sur les valeurs religieuses.

La loi turque réprime l’`insulte aux valeurs religieuses` de 3 mois à
un an de prison.

En Turquie, dirigée par l’AKP depuis 2002, les laïcs craignent de plus
en plus pour leurs libertés individuelles. Le femmes en particulier
ont peur de ne plus avoir le libre arbitre dans le choix de la vie
publique et privée quelles voudraient mener, selon les enquêtes.

La `pression du quartier`, une pression sociale gagnerait en
intensité, notamment dans les petites villes et les zones rurales.

L’AKP pour sa part nie toute volonté d’islamiser la société turque,
officiellement à 99% musulmane.

« Turquie – 97ème anniversaire du Génocide et de la Tradition des
meurtres non résolus »

A l’occasion du 97ème anniversaire du Génocide arménien, un événement
de commémoration a été organisé Place Taksim.

Il était 19h15 quand 500 personnes se sont réunies devant l’arrêt du
tram Place Taksim ; Rakel Dink, Orhan Dink, Arat Dink, l’artiste Metin
Kahraman, le professeur Gencay Gürsoy, les parlementaires du BDP
Sabahat Tuncel et Sureyya Onder, le journaliste Oral Calislar, le
professeur Baskin Oran, l’artiste Ferhat Tunç et la famille de Sevag
Balikci étaient présents.

La participation à la commémoration était beaucoup importante que les
deux précédentes années.

30 personnes du parti de la Libération Populaire ont protesté contre
la commémoration du Génocide arménien 20 mètres derrière le secteur de
la commémoration.

Ils ont crié des slogans comme « le génocide arménien est un mensonge
impérialiste » et « Damnés soit l’impérialisme américain ! ». Les
policiers avaient pris des mesures de sécurité importantes au milieu
deux groupes.

« Le 24 avril est le commencement de la tradition des meurtres non résolus »

Des chansons folkloriques arméniennes ont été jouées lors de
l’événement et la mémoire des intellectuels arméniens arrêtés dans
leurs maisons et dans la nuit du 23 avril a été commémorée.

Le porte parole du parti des Ouvriers Révolutionnaires Socialistes
(DSP) Senol Karakas a dit que « 1,5 million d’arméniens a été tué le
24 avril et c’est à la fois le commencement du Génocide arménien et la
tradition des meurtres non résolus ».

Senol Karakas a mentionné que les personnalités les plus importantes
de la communauté arménienne ont été arrêtées dans la nuit du 23 avril
et c’était en vue de faire taire les Arméniens et de casse leur
pouvoir de résistance.

« Une histoire inoubliée est la garantie de l’avenir »

Zisan Tokaç a lu le communiqué de presse de la part de l’ONG « Dire
Stop au Racisme et au nationalisme ».

« Autour de 250 intellectuels arméniens ont été arrêtés dans leurs
maisons le 24 avril 1915 et envoyé à Çankiri et Ayas, pour un voyage
sans retour et ces gens étaient la voix de la communauté arménienne ».

« Ces gens ont cru aux jours libres et égaux après 1908. Leurs rêves
se sont perdus sur ces routes sans retour comme eux-mêmes ». « Le
peuple arménien a été expulsé dans des convoies vers les déserts. Les
hommes ont été tués ; les églises et des écoles sont tombées en ruine.
Les propriétés ont changé de mains ».

« Les choses qui sont arrivées ne sont pas oubliées dans le silence et
le négationnisme. Au contraire, la blessure s’est métamorphosée en
inflammation, les impasses sont devenues plus fortes. Beaucoup de
Justes Musulmans ont essayé de sauver leurs voisins arméniens
cependant les conditions dans ces pays ne pouvaient pas s’améliorer
désormais ».

« Les gens qui veulent oublier le passé sont en fait ceux qui ont peur
de l’avenir. Une histoire inoubliée est la garantie de l’avenir »
avait dit Hrant Dink.

Dernier hommage aux 3 soldats Arméniens tués par les Azéris

Dimanche 29 avril, des centaines d’habitants s’étaient réunis devant
la maison de la Culture de Pert dans la région de Tavouche pour un
dernier hommage aux trois soldats Arméniens tués le 27 avril par les
forces azerbaïdjanaises sur la route reliant Aykepar à Movses. Les
soldats tombés dans l’embuscade sont Aram Yessayan (25 ans), Arshag
Nercissian (21 ans) et David Abkarian (27 ans). La cérémonie s’est
déroulée dans la cour de la maison de la Culture de Pert en présence
du préfet de la région Armen Ghoularian, la famille et les amis des
soldats tués et des centaines d’habitants. L’émotion était très
grande. Les soldats Arméniens tués étaient en tenue civile et dans une
voiture non-militaire, ce qui prouve que les attaques azéries sont
également en direction de la population civile arménienne des villages
frontaliers. Le ministère arménien de la Défense a annoncé que l’Armée
arménienne donnerait une réplique significative.
