The Armenian authorities have committed a big political mistake when
bringing a criminal charge against Vartan Oskanian, former Ambassador
of Armenia, expert Arman Navasardyan said during a press-conference
on Monday.

He said that Oskanian knows lots of diplomats worldwide, and his
trial may have very bad consequences for Armenia.

“Of course, nobody will openly say that we are an authoritarian
country, but their practical steps will speak for themselves,”
Navasardyan said, adding that the Armenian authorities are politically
motivated and somewhat infantile in this case.

Cyberattack Caused The Connection Failure In Iranian Oil Platforms

CYBERATTACK CAUSED THE CONNECTION FAILURE IN IRANIAN OIL PLATFORMS

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, ARMENPRESS: Iran says it has successfully blocked a
cyberattack on the computer network of its offshore drilling platforms
situated in Persian Gulf, reports Armenpress referring to Iranian
ISNA agency information published on October 8.

Armenpress informs that Mohammad Reza Golshani, IT head of Iran’s
state offshore oil company, is blaming Israel for the attack.

Iran periodically reports the discovery of viruses and other malicious
programs in government, nuclear, oil and industrial networks, blaming
Israel and the United States. In May, Iran shut down part of its oil
facilities because of another such cyberattack.

Israel has done little to deflect suspicion that it uses viruses
against Iran.

In this case, Golshani said, the attack occurred over the past two
weeks, was routed through China, and affected only the communications
systems of the network. He said the main network was safe since it was
isolated from the Internet, and was back to normal operations. Iran
announced that it had temporarily disconnected its oil ministry and
its main crude export terminal from the Internet after the May attack.

Iran earns up to 80 percent of its foreign revenue from the export of
crude. Iran is odds with the West over its nuclear program. The West
suspects the program is aimed at developing weapons. Tehran denies
the charge, saying its nuclear program is geared toward peaceful
purposes like power generation and cancer treatment.

A computer worm known as Stuxnet briefly brought Iran’s uranium
enrichment activity to a halt in 2010.

Georgia has no right to register a brand “Georgia-cradle of wine”, as
there is no such structure which can register such a brand with a right
of intellectual property, the head of Industrial Policy Department
of Armenia’s Economy Ministry, Hayk Mirzoyan, told journalists today
when commenting on publications in the Georgian press, according to
which wine presses and vessels of III-II millenniums BC were found
by archaeologists in Georgia. The registration of Georgia like “a
cradle of wine” will give a right to come forward like an ancient
wine country.

Mirzoyan assured that wine was produced in Armenia 6 thousand years
ago. The digging in Areni cave of Vayots Dzor region of Armenia and
scientific publications are evidence of that. “Not countries but
legal and individual persons may register intellectual property”, –
Mirzoyan said.

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, ARMENPRESS: Barely two days after it was unveiled
on September 29, the bronze bust of Kemal Ataturk was doused with red
paint by unknown people in Budapest’s District XIX. As Armenpresss
reports citing Politics hu, the incident came amid continued strained
relations between Hungary and Armenia over the extradition by the
former of an Azeri military officer who killed his Armenia fellow
student in Hungary in 2004. The unveiling was preceded by strong
protests from the local Armenian community, while the district
government had been urged by the Foreign Ministry to rethink the plan.

Ataturk, Turkey’s founding father and first prime minister, is seen by
many Armenians as being responsible for the 1915 genocide against the
country’s Armenia community, in which more than a million Armenians
were systematically killed by the Ottoman government.

The time has come for Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to solve
the issues by punishing a few people, Republic party member Suren
Abrahamyan told the reporters on Monday, stressing that the Armenian
people are undergoing harder times than ever.

Abrahamyan also called to be sober.

He also spoke about the possibility of nomination of their party
leader in the coming presidential elections, but said the issue is
not finally clarified.

“It is necessary to assess the situation. We should be ready for coupe,
it is not an end in itself. We are building a party as during these
years we have put our party issues aside. If a situation is created
for us to understand that we are able to do anything, we will do it,”
he said, adding that during this period they are busy with having
active meetings with people.

Asked which political force the party will back if Aram Sargsyan
refuses to run for presidency, Abrahamyan said the party has not made
a decision yet.

Referring to the Armenian National Congress, Abrahamyan said after the
ANC nominates candidacy, forwards its program, the party will consider
whether to support the bloc or not. No coupe will occur in such a way.

It is necessary to display a political will like Georgia did.

The secretary of the opposition Heritage party has addressed the
public fuss over plans for screening the Serbian gay rights film at
the Yerevan Puppet Theatre.

In a Facebook post, Hovsep Khurshudyan characterizes the excitement
as a kind of undue peevishness by a group of people pretending to be
moralists or saviors of the nation.

“Again someone faced the urgent need to divert the society from real
problems, and so they began … And they made such an advertisement
that made me watch [the movie] from start to end,” the politician says.

After watching The Parade, Khurshudyan recommends the opponents not
to worry too much.

“You can very easily go and watch the film; that will not definitely
change or sexual orientation (unless you want to at the bottom of
your heart),” he adds.

Ani ruins on the Armenian-Turkish border are being used by the
residents of Ojakil village as pasture, Sondakika website reports.

Four security officers controlling the territory cannot manage to
control 78 hectares of territory while the villagers reach even
Akhuryan River for feeding the animals.

Culture and tourism department of Kars province asked the village
residents to be more sensitive. Head of the department periodically
meets with the villagers and reminds about the significance of the
ruins saying that in case of the implementation of tourism development
programs they may earn money.

“Naturally it is not pleasant. That’s why it is necessary to speak
with villagers one by one. We explain that it is not right to do so.

They promised to be more attentive, but sometimes they set the animals
free and the latter go in the direction of the water,” he said.
