YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16, ARMENPRESS: Lack of financial resources, and
social conditions occurring in Armenian families should not become an
obstacle for talented young people to get higher education. As reports
Armenpress, this was noted by Armenian Prime Tigran Sargsyan during
the official scholarship certificate handing ceremony in Yerevan State
Medical University.

Youth Foundation of Armenia has provided 810 first and second year
students of state universities, who haven’t been included in the list
of state scholarship, with scholarship certificates. Tigran Sargsyan
has noted this is the third time he is participating in such event and
thus wants to highlight the consistency of Armenian government in this
issue.

`We are going to make efforts in this direction. We are going to
increase financial assistance to talented young people,’ Prime said,
adding that for scholarship, Armenian government had provided Youth
Foundation of Armenia with AMD60 million.

Prime Minister of Armenian Tigran Sargsyan and Minister of Education
and Science Armen Ashotyan personally handed the certificates to
student.

Head of Youth Foundation of Armenia and deputy of Armenian National
Assembly Karen Avagyan urged students to study well in order to ease
the burden of their parents.

Students expressed their gratitude to Armenian government and youth
Foundation for implementing this program.

1367 students of Armenian Republic have applied for receiving scholarship.

PanARMENIAN.Net – Syria’s Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that
the Turkish government `continues to flagrantly interfere in the
Syrian domestic affairs in breach of the UN charter, the international
law, and the rules governing relations among countries.’
According to the state-run news agency SANA, in two identical letters
addressed on Friday, Feb 15, to head of the UN Security Council and
the UN Secretary-General highlighting Turkey’s subversive role in the
Syrian crisis, the ministry said that the Turkish government has
sought to obstruct the implementation of the political program
announced by President Bashar al-Assad for solving the crisis in
Syria, and the ensuing measures undertaken by the Syrian government
for that end.
”Turkey has turned its territories into a stamping ground for
hosting, training, funding, arming and smuggling armed terrorist
groups, mainly al-Qaeda and Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist
groups, into Syria,” the letters said, adding ”and it publicly
supports and justifies their destructive practices of killing and
methodical vandalism of infrastructure and public and private
property.”
”According to international law, the rules governing international
relations and good neighborliness, the Turkish government’s conduct
constitutes a flagrant violation of the international law,” the
ministry added. The ministry affirmed that in so doing, the Turkish
government violates the UN charter which states that “all Members
shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use
of force against the territorial integrity or political independence
of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of
the United Nations.”
The ministry stressed that the Turkish government’s `blatant
violations of the international law and good neighborliness makes it
imperative that the international community prevent the Turkish
government and the regional and international sides conspiring against
Syria from pushing ahead with its acts that amount to aggression,
underlining need for obliging it to stop interference in the Syrian
internal affairs.’

about ‘Armenian genocide’.

US filmmaker of Armenian origin Art Sevada is making a film about the
so-called ‘Armenian genocide’.

The fight night of the film which is made in cooperation with EdgeArt
Entertainment and Sevada Productions is due on 24 April 2015.

World celebrities as Natalia Portman and Arman Assanti are starring in
the film. The conceptual trailer posted on the official website of the
film also contains moments with such Hollywood stars as Al Pacino and
Leonardo di Caprio. The film direct, script writer and film producer
is Art Sevada. Alan Katz and Tirau Jaffet also worked at the film.

Armenian Americans in Boise, Idaho will hold an ANCA Town Hall meeting

BOISE, Idaho-Armenian Americans in Boise, Idaho will hold an ANCA Town
Hall meeting on Saturday, March 2. The town hall meeting will cover a
variety of topics, including the Armenian National Committee of
America’s Return of Churches initiative, which calls on the Republic
of Turkey to return stolen Christian church properties and allow full
freedom of faith for all religious minorities.

`We here in Idaho welcome the opportunity to host this ANCA Town Hall
meeting,’ remarked John Kazian, resident of Kuna, Idaho. `We respect
the work of the ANCA and look forward to learning how Armenian
Americans in Idaho can be part of the Return of Churches initiative,
which rightfully seeks to return to our people the churches that were
stolen from us during the Armenian Genocide,’ Kazian added.

The ANCA Town Hall meeting will feature remarks by William Bairamian,
Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of America –
Western Region. The gathering will be held at Saints Constantine and
Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Boise, Idaho at 7 p.m. on Saturday,
March 2.

`This ANCA Town Hall meeting will provide us with a chance to exchange
ideas, in an open dialogue, with Armenian Americans in Idaho,’
commented William Bairamian. `The Armenians of Idaho are rightly proud
to live in what is known as the Gem State. I know they are dedicated
to advancing issues they care about – like the Armenian Cause – with
their local Members of Congress. For this reason, I am proud to be
headed to Boise, Idaho to share time with John Kazian and other
Armenian Americans who reside in and around Boise, Idaho.

Idaho became the 33rd U.S. state to recognize the Armenian Genocide in
2004, when former Republican Governor Dirk Kempthorne, then Chairman
of the National Governors Association, issued a proclamation citing
April 24th `Idaho Day of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide of
1915-1923. The proclamation began by noting that `one and
one-half-million Christian Armenian men, women, and children were the
victims of a brutal genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkish
Government.

The gubernatorial proclamation in 2004 closely followed a resolution
unanimously adopted by the Senate of the Associated Students of Boise
State University (ASBSU) recognizing the Armenian Genocide and
condemning efforts to rewrite history. Senate Resolution 13 noted that
the genocide `has resulted in the elimination of the Armenian people
>From their historic homeland of over 3,000 years through the criminal
loss of property and life.’ The resolution `commemorates the Armenian
Genocide and condemns those attempts made by governments as well as
other entities, both public and private, to distort the historical
reality and legal relevance of the Armenian Genocide to the
descendants of its survivors and humanity as a whole.’

Most recently, an agricultural group in the Republic of Turkey has
apparently applied to the Turkish Patent Institute to trademark the
word `IDAHO’ for its agricultural, plant and animal products. In
response, the Idaho Senate has, according to news accounts,
fast-tracked a resolution against the move proposed by the Potato
Commission and passed it unanimously. As reported last week in an
Idaho newspaper, `If that office (in Turkey) grants them that
authority to use IDAHO as their trademark, they can both sell and
market products both in Turkey and internationally using the Idaho
name,’ said Sen. Steve Bair, R-Blackfoot, Senate Agriculture Committee
chairman. `I guess we take exception to that. This is not intended to
poke our finger into Turkey’s eye, but they need to understand that we
treasure the Idaho name.’

The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region is the
largest and most influential Armenian American grassroots advocacy

Western United States and affiliated organizations around the country,

`Azerbaijan kept firing towards villages of Tavush region during the
last few days. It tries to show that the conflict is between Armenia
and Azerbaijan and not between NKR’, said political scientist Levon
Meliq-Shahnazaryan.

`Tension will go on. Azerbaijan tries to solve its internal problems
by firing towards Movses, Chinari, Karmiragh villages, however our
army attacks back equally’, said he.

According to the political scientist, a sabotage group had entered our
territory and withdrew suffering 4 losses.
`According to reports, Azerbaijani army had 15 victims this year and
we know about 4 more, so it is 19 in total. Lat year’s number was
138′, said he.

Meliq-Shahnazaryan believes that Azerbaijan tries to show the
International society that Armenia is the aggressor and that Armenia
had invaded `azerbaijani’ territory and not that it was a liberating
battle. He also said that there will not be any warlike actions for
the coming 3 years.

l’Arménie Sovietique

Les Archives nationales d’Arménie ont déjà numérisé près de 1200
documentaires au cours des trois dernières années a déclaré son
directeur Amatuni Virabyan.

Il a dit que les Archives nationales ont terminé la numérisation des
actualités de l’Arménie soviétique. Il y a près de 2200 documentaires
tournés depuis les années 1930. Tous les documentaires seront enfin
numérisés d’ici 2 à 3 ans. Environ 200 à 300 films seront numérisés
d’ici la fin de l’année.

Depuis plusieurs jours de nombreux quartiers de la ville d’Alep privés
d’électricité sont plongés dans le noir. Jiraïr Reyissian, le
secrétaire de presse de l’archevêché de l’Eglise arménienne d’Alep
évoque les difficultés de la population -dont les Arméniens- sans
électricité et parfois sans téléphone durant de nombreux jours.
L’approvisionnement en eau des habitations est également irrégulier en
raison du manque d’électricité pour les pompes. Le seul élément
positif de cette souffrance de la population est que désormais elle
arrive à trouver du pain dans les boulangeries. Selon Jiraïr
Reyissian, durant la nuit, les troupes gouvernementales mènent de
larges opérations pour déloger les insurgés. Les bruits des tirs sont
régulièrement entendus dans les quartiers Arméniens d’Alep. De
nombreux quartiers de la ville sont également surveillés par des
hélicoptères qui traquent les insurgés. Selon l’ONU les combats en
Syrie depuis deux ans ont fait près de 70 000 morts dont un peu plus
d’une quarantaine d’Arméniens.

Des chaînes de télévisions étrangères diffuseront des reportages
touristiques sur l’Arménie

Selon les données officielles l’an dernier l’Arménie a accueilli 843
330 touristes en croissance de 11,3 % par rapport à 2011. Mais le
potentiel touristique de l’Arménie est encore important, d’autant que
la Géorgie frôle la barre des 3 millions de touristes et que
l’Azerbaïdjan dépasse les 1,8 millions. Selon Mekhag Abressian, le
responsable du Tourisme auprès du ministère arménien de l’Economie,
l’Arménie utilisera de nombreux relais pour accroitre le nombre de
touristes. Les salons du tourisme et les médias seront les deux axes
forts du programme du développement du tourisme en Arménie. L’an
passé, Euronews et CNN avaient diffusé des annonces publicitaires sur
le tourisme en Arménie. Cette année, avec Euronews et CNN, d’autres
chaînes de télévisions étrangères diffuseront des annonces
publicitaires. Le film documentaire « The land of Noah » (la Terre de
Noé) qui fut diffusé par quelques chaînes étrangères -dont la chaîne
espagnole Télévision Espanola, la chaîne publique tchèque ou la
française TV5 Voyager- sera également repris par d’autres chaînes. «
CNN, les chaînes russes OPT et PTP, la géorgienne Roustavi ont diffusé
des images touristiques sur l’Arménie, nous continuerons à entretenir
des liens avec ces chaînes ainsi que d’autres pour développer ces
actions » dit Mekhag Abressian.

Armenia improves efficiency of electoral staff

Armenia is concluding the national program for training staff of
electoral commission for the presidential polls of February 18, Trend
reports.

16,000 people were involved in the program, OSCE representative in
Yerevan Andrey Sorokin said.

The project is part of the OSCE program for improvement of efficiency
of electoral processes in Armenia. It was organized by the Central
Electoral Commission of Armenia, International Foundation for
Electoral Systems (IFES). The European Union expects Armenia to
organize elections according to international standards, as stated by
EU representative to Armenia Trajan Hristea.

Special attention is paid to processing and vote-counting,
identification of voters and validation of ballot sheets.
