Bostanjian Says Minimum Wage In Armenia Should Be 100,000 Drams

BOSTANJIAN SAYS MINIMUM WAGE IN ARMENIA SHOULD BE 100,000 DRAMS

YEREVAN, June 6. /ARKA/. According to a former MP from the Prosperous
Armenia Party, Vartan Bostanjian, the minimum wage should be
80,000-100,000 drams. The Armenian government said earlier this week
it will raise the minimum wage of 32,500 drams to 45,000 drams from
July 1.

“Raising the minimum wage to 45 thousand drams will have no effect
amid the ongoing rise of prices of foods and other commodities. A
normal wage is a wage that ensures decent living,” he said at a press
conference on Thursday.

He said the prices will go up further after the anticipated rise in
the tariffs of natural gas and electricity, expected in July.

Bostanjian also said the government should gradually increase all
public sector wages that will in turn boost the purchasing power of
the citizens. The Armenian government plans to raise public sector
salaries from January 2014. ($ 1 – 414.92 drams).-0-

17:55 06/06/2013 ” ECONOMY

There can be no question of Armavia’s return, Head of General
Department of Civil Aviation of Armenia Artyom Movsesyan told today’s
news conference.

Armavia had about 40 percent share in the market, and this figure
reduced to 15 percent in the past 2-3 years. So, Armavia’s leaving
the market has not caused any shocks, according to Movsesyan.

The aviation official added that there are air companies in Armenia
which have experience and good management and can participate in
the tender.

“I am convinced that they can provide better services to citizens,”
he concluded.

Edward Nalbandyan: Intolerance And Xenophobia Are Challenges Of Euro

EDWARD NALBANDYAN: INTOLERANCE AND XENOPHOBIA ARE CHALLENGES OF EUROPEAN UNIVERSAL VALUES

14:36, 6 June, 2013

YEREVAN, JUNE 6, ARMENPRESS: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of
the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandyan performed a speech at the
OSCE Permanent Council held in Vienna on June 6. As Armenpress was
reported by the OSCE Press Office, the speech of the Minister says in
particular: “While the mandates and composition of the OSCE and the
Council of Europe are different, the co-operation can give political
impetus and create synergies on the ground”, – said the Armenian
Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan in the speech to the representatives
of the 57 OSCE participating States today. In May, Armenia took over
the sixmonth long chairmanship of the Council of Europe.

“Since 2004, co-operation between these two organizations has been
enhanced, in particular in the fields of protection of the rights of
persons belonging to national minorities, the fight against terrorism,
the fight against trafficking in human beings, and the promotion
of tolerance,” he said. “There is a common understanding that we
should encourage the two organizations to enhance their co-operation,
to exchange information and to coordinate their activities with the
view of developing synergies and avoiding duplications.”

In his speech at the OSCE Permanent Council, Nalbandyan also outlined
Armenia’s priorities in the fields of human rights and rule of law
at the Council of Europe, including combating racism and xenophobia
in Europe, the promotion of European values through intercultural
dialogue, the strengthening of European standards on human rights
and the rule of law, and the fostering of democratic societies.

“Intolerance and xenophobia violate human dignity and challenge the
cohesion of our societies. We would like to focus our attention on
the hatred and intolerance, racist and xenophobic rhetoric used
in political discourse as a tool for political propaganda, which
contaminates the souls of the people, incites distrust and creates
images of public enemies and leads to hate-induced crimes,” he said.

Nalbandyan previously addressed the Permanent Council in March 2011.

The Permanent Council is a key decision-making in the OSCE, which
meets weekly in Vienna.

KARABAKH ISSUE CANNOT BE SUBJECT FOR NEGOTIATIONS – MARXIST PARTY OF ARMENIA

June 06, 2013 | 13:36

YEREVAN. – Armenia should pull out from the Karabakh peace talks and
yield its place to the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).

Marxist Party of Armenia leader Davit Hakobyan stated the above-said
during a press conference on Thursday.

In his words, NKR should be given the opportunity to shape its own
foreign policy.

“Once Karabakh becomes a subject of international law, it will decide
[on its own] in which direction to conduct [its] foreign policy. We
should take advantage of the great powers’ clash of interests,”
Hakobyan said.

He also expressed a view that the Karabakh issue cannot be a subject
for negotiations.

“The party that triggered war and suffered defeat [i.e., Azerbaijan]
cannot be a negotiating party,” the Marxist party leader noted.

Davit Hakobyan added that the OSCE Minsk Group has lost its role as
a diplomatic key to the settlement of the conflict.

Criminals Know That They Will Stay Unpunished – Davit Sanasaryan

CRIMINALS KNOW THAT THEY WILL STAY UNPUNISHED – DAVIT SANASARYAN

13:38 ~U 06.06.13

It is not a secret that each punishment of crime and murder in
particular prevents such cases in future but as to what happened
near the house of Syunik governor was expected, Davit Sanasaryan,
coordinator of ‘We demand Punishment of all guilty in Harsnakar case’,
told the reporters on Thursday.

He said it is a result of the atmosphere of impunity dominating
in Armenia.

He said that taking into consideration the circumstance that the
Armenian authorities are backed by criminals and criminal elements,
new murders will be committed with the criminals knowing that they
will either be considered being asleep during the crimes or watching
football.

“It is not a new thing, it was expected. We have warned long ago that
Syunik governor is a criminal, but he is not being punished as they
still need him,” he said.

Sanasaryan said he is not even surprised with the circumstance that
by violating the law the governor’s office places on its website the
‘fantastic scenario’ of what has happened.

“The publication of the governor’s office statement without the
permission of the investigative body was not unexpected. No matter
what kind of law violation they will just pay a fine,” he said.

According to Sanasaryan, yesterday when the Syunik governor’s office
published the ‘scenario of fight’ it prompted that a favor has been
done to Suren Khachatryan and he will not be hold accountable.

“It was an absurd scenario which I do not believe, of course. Avetik
Budaghyan, who is being presented as a normal person, would not have
come and attack, I think,” he said, adding that he does not think
that after so many shots Surik Khachatryan was unaware of what was
happening.

After learning that Syunik governor has been released from office,
he said it is not enough and they will demand filing a criminal case.

“After the show, followed the Harsnakar case, Ruben Hayrapetyan
has waived his mandate but it was of no significance for him, and
we are not satisfied with it. For me the important thing is that
Ruben Hayrapetyan is not the same, is not participating in lukewarm
atmosphere. Though he has not changed his skin, it nevertheless had
its impact,” he said. Sanasaryan said in case of public pressure
something will change.
