Ter-Petrossian Reveals WikiLeaks Cables About Serzh Sargsyan’s Agree

TER-PETROSSIAN REVEALS WIKILEAKS CABLES ABOUT SERZH SARGSYAN’S AGREEMENT
Hripsime JEBEJYAN

April 16, 2012 16:36

Today, during the Armenian National Congress (ANC) rally in Masis,
Levon Ter-Petrossian, the Congress leader, noted that during the
previous election they had been in Masis and Ejmiadzin at the end
of the election campaign, “During the 2008 election campaign, Masis
and Ejmiadzin were the most crowded. What is the reason today? It is
not fear. They were more afraid in 2008. The majority of the active
population has left Armenia during the past four years.”

According to the first president, this government enjoys the support
of the international community, “The West needs such a thievish
government as Serzh Sargsyan, because it is easier

to govern them. This government is not independent; it is dependent
on external forces. What government could agree on establishing a
commission of Armenian and Turkish historians that would find out
whether there had been genocide or not? Moreover, Serzh Sargsyan gave
that promise to them in 2007, it is in WikiLeaks cables, we saw it.

Serzh Sargsyan had promised them before the election to agree to
Madrid Principles of settling the Karabakh conflict. Do you know what
it is? It is the document which I vetoed in 1996, regardless of huge
pressure. At least, at that time Karabakh was a party to the conflict,
its position was decisive. They convinced Robert Kocharyan that there
was no need for Karabakh to be a party to the conflict and they kicked
Karabakh out. Now they promise again that they must necessarily
involve Karabakh in the negotiation process. What involvement are
they talking about? Karabakh has a mandate, the Budapest Summit gave
a mandate to it, you must struggle to return that mandate. This is
disability. Now they have come and ask votes from you again.”

Talking about election fraud, Levon Ter-Petrossian assured that
“handing out 5-10 thousand AMD, do you know how much money they steal
from you in the process? These thick-necks steal $5 billion from you
every year. I am not afraid to say that the President with all his
ministers, governors and Cabinet are all thieves and bandits.”

Ilham Aliyev Blames World Of ‘Dirty Campaign’ Against Eurovision 201

ILHAM ALIYEV BLAMES WORLD OF ‘DIRTY CAMPAIGN’ AGAINST EUROVISION 2012 IN BAKU

arminfo
Tuesday, April 17, 13:18

“Unfortunately, the press continues dirty campaign against our country
in connection with the Eurovision Song Contest. We know perfectly what
forces are behind this campaign,” said Ilham Aliyev the President
of the Republic of Azerbaijan presiding over a Cabinet’s meeting
to discuss results of the socio-economic development in the first
quarter 2012, APA reports.

“There are countries where dirty defamatory articles about Azerbaijan
are published every week and even every day. Naturally, this policy is
coordinated. However, this policy does not and will not lead to the
results. Because there is no force that could be able to influence
our politics, and while I’m in this chair, there will not be. We go
our own way. We will go the way of our independence and our freedom! “.

The President noted that Azerbaijan complies with all the kinds of
freedom, “Those who want to accuse us for anti-democratic steps, let’s
look at what is happening in their own countries. There, every day,
participants of protests are beaten, seriously injured and hundreds
of demonstrators are arrested. Some of the mass media that belong to
these countries smear campaign against Azerbaijan. ” Further in his
speech the President did not scruple to say that there are democracy,
freedom of speech, freedom of conscience and assembly in Azerbaijan.

“We are confident going forward. Provocations against us will
continue. Information war against us will continue. We do not care. We
simply need to talk about it, take our own steps to ensure a happy
future for the Azerbaijani people,” Aliyev said for conclusion.

Armenian Wine Not Presented In Russian Market Well Enough – Russian

ARMENIAN WINE NOT PRESENTED IN RUSSIAN MARKET WELL ENOUGH – RUSSIAN EXPERT

Tert.am
16.04.12

Issues existing in Armenia’s wine-making sphere, ways of its
development, expansion of export opportunities have been discussed
today at the seminar-discussion organized today by Armenia’s Economy
Ministry.

Experts from Russia have been invited to present the wine-making
tendencies of world and Russian markets.

Director of “Jaguar” distributing organization Sergey Nikitin, speaking
about the engagement of wine-market in Russia, noted that this type of
product is being imported to that country mainly from Italy, France,
Spain. As to the Armenian wine, the expert said, it makes a very
small part in the Russian market: only 1 million liters of wine is
being imported, which shows that the Armenian product is not widely
consumed. According to the expert, the Armenian wine is being mainly
consumed by Armenian Diaspora or is being used for “exotics”.

Sergey Nikitin explained such small volume of consumption first with
high prices, which makes the buyer choose the well-known French wine
and not unknown Armenian.

“Another issue is that wine is mainly being exported by brandy
producers which means no relevant significance is being attached to
that product,” he said, adding that there is a lack of competition
in the wine market.

Among the existing issues is the outdated technology of wine
production. He said it is a phenomenon peculiar not only for Armenia,
but other former soviet countries.

The expert attached significance to the formation of wine brand. “It
may be done through press, advertisements, to show that there is not
only brandy in Armenia, but wine as well,” the Russian expert said.

He stressed that for the image of the Armenian wine it is necessary
to create wine shops. “There are Armenian shops but there are closed
for active consumers,” he said.

The Russian expert also added that there is “wine tourism” in Armenia,
but as compared with Moldova there is still a lot to be done in this
field. “The positive thing in that there is nothing about Armenian
wine and everything may be started from a clean page. To think over
legends is not difficult at all, especially for Armenians,” Sergey
Nikitin said.
