Arch. Moushegh Mardirossian, who was instrumental in helping bring
the SARF coalition together, quoted His Holiness Aram I that Armenians
need to be committed to preserving and safeguarding our communities in
Syria. The Prelate recalled that the initial response to the crisis in
Syria was to help the schools, and he praised the ARS for
accomplishing that objective early on.
Zaven Khanjian, SARF Executive Committee Chairman, noted that the
motto, `Poloren Polorin’ (from everyone to everyone) appropriately
describes how the various organizations have come together to help the
Syrian-Armenian community, which has provided invaluable and
immeasurable contributions to the Diaspora in the decades since the
Armenian Genocide. Khanjian ended his remarks with an appeal: `Did you

“NO GROUP OR INDIVIDUAL HAS THE RIGHT TO UNDERMINE WHAT IS REGARDED AS
SACRED BY ANY RELIGION”

SAID HIS HOLINESS ARAM I

Following the recent protests against the disgusting film on you tube
denigrating Prophet Mohammed, His Holiness Aram I stated that “no group or
individual has the right to undermine what is regarded as sacred by any
religion, and we strongly condemn such approaches. The traditions, teachings
and values of all religions should be respected.” He went on to say, “The
monotheistic religions believe in peace and not violence, and dialogue is
the key to building respect.”

His Holiness concluded by stating that we in the Middle East believe that
the ‘other’ is the ‘neighbor’; “Christians and Muslims,” he said, “have been
living together as neighbors for many centuries and are working constantly
towards building a culture of coexistence based on respect for our
differences.”

Politician: It Is Hard For Opposition To Compete With Republican Par

POLITICIAN: IT IS HARD FOR OPPOSITION TO COMPETE WITH REPUBLICAN PARTY AT ELECTIONS IN ARMENIA

arminfo
Monday, September 24, 18:05

It is hard for the Armenian opposition to compete with the ruling
Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) during the elections, as the RPA
has more administrative and financial resources, Anahit Bakhshyan,
ex-MP from the Heritage Party, said at a press conference in Yerevan
on Monday.

She said that the RPA uses all the legal and illegal resources
and wins at the elections due to these resources. “It is hard to
fight against the party, which has seized everything; consequently,
every party weighs its chances for victory before nominating its
candidates”, she said. In the meantime, Bakhshyan pointed out that
the local elections in Armenia passed peacefully and no fraud was
registered. The people voted for the candidates who may be helpful
in the future, for instance, they voted for the owners of shops to
borrow some goods from them.

For her part, Karine Achemyan, MP from the RPA, said that despite the
big competition, the local elections passed peacefully, fairly and
without any conflicts. She assured that the RPA was working to hold
transparent and fair elections. “It has become clear once again that
the RPA is a strong party, which nominates worthy candidates and the
people support them”, she said.

To note, according to the preliminary data, the turnout at the Sept 23
local elections in five regions of Armenia was 53.31% (342,138 people).

A total of 521 candidates were running in 5 regions of Armenia, of
them 176 were non-partisan, 241 members of the RPA, 69 members of the
Prosperous Armenia Party, 21 members of ARF Dashnaktsutiun, 6 members
of Orinats Yerkir Party, 2 members of the Communist Party and 2 members
of the Democracy and Labor Party. According to the preliminary data,
mostly the RPA representatives obtained the majority of votes.

Greta Publishes Report On Armenia

GRETA PUBLISHES REPORT ON ARMENIA

ARMENPRESS
24 September, 2012
YEREVAN

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS: The Council of Europe’s Group
of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA)
published on Friday 21 September its first evaluation report on
Armenia, reports Armenpress citing The Council of Europe’s press
service. In the report, GRETA welcomes the important steps taken
by the Armenian authorities to prevent and combat trafficking in
human beings, in particular the efforts to raise public awareness
and train relevant professionals. However, GRETA considers that
more targeted awareness-raising measures should be developed for
vulnerable groups, in particular children. The report underlines that
the current procedure for identification of victims of trafficking
is not sufficiently effective as it is likely to leave out those
who did not co-operate with the law enforcement authorities. GRETA
urges the Armenian authorities to disconnect the identification
of victims of trafficking from their participation in criminal
proceedings. GRETA also considers that all actors involved in the
identification of victims should adopt a more proactive approach and
increase their outreach work, in particular as regards identification
of cases of trafficking for labour exploitation. GRETA considers that
the Armenian authorities should provide information to victims of
trafficking about the right to compensation, ensure that they have
effective access to legal aid in this respect and set up a State
compensation scheme accessible to victims of trafficking. As regards
victims and witnesses in criminal proceedings for trafficking cases,
GRETA urges the Armenian authorities to ensure adequate protection of
such persons, especially children. Prior to drawing up its evaluation
report, GRETA held consultations with the relevant authorities and
non-governmental and international organisations active in the field
of combating trafficking in human beings in Armenia. A confidential
first draft of the report was sent to the Armenian authorities
and their comments were taken into account in the final evaluation
report adopted by GRETA. This report is published together with the
final comments of the Armenian authorities, as provided for by the
Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human
Beings. On the basis of GRETA’s report, the Committee of the Parties
to the Convention will consider adopting recommendations addressed
to the Government of Armenia.

Le Lobbying De L’Azerbaidjan Aux Etats-Unis Et En Europe

LE LOBBYING DE L’AZERBAIDJAN AUX ETATS-UNIS ET EN EUROPE
Stephane

armenews.com
mardi 25 septembre 2012

Bob Lawrence & Associates, Jefferson Waterman International, Fabiani
et Company and Patton Boggs.

A Bakou,

Honteux Proces De La Presse Pour La Turquie Et L’Europe

HONTEUX PROCèS DE LA PRESSE POUR LA TURQUIE ET L’EUROP

courageux journaliste Ihsan Ada.

turque.
