YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS: “Festival of Knowledge: Yerevan 2010”
launched today at the RA National Academy of Sciences under the slogan
“Toward Green Economy”. It will last until October 8. The festival
is being carried out within the framework of “Restoring Energy Week”
2d international conference. Schoolchildren, teachers, young people
and adults were invited to the event.

Director of the RA NAS Ecologonosphere Researches center Arman
Saghatelyan said that the event will promote the formation of conscious
among the gathered that the public cannot develop without science
and science is being formed and developed in the public.

“There is no sphere that may develop without science,” he said, adding
that the children gathered here decide in future to enter the sphere
of science.

The main goals of the event is to maximum socialize science make it
publicly available. “The prospects of development of each public is
connected with science and development of each person with knowledge,”
president of NAS Radik Martirosyan said, adding that the science
itself needs to develop in respect of approaches and methods which
ensures its progress.

The row of events of “Festival of Knowledge” launched in 2000 from
Great Britain and spread in a number of other countries including
Germany, France and the USA.

Day Of Librarians Marked October 7

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS: The Day of Librarians is marked on
October 7. Deputy Director of the National Library of Armenia Rafik
Ghazaryan told Armenpress that as of January 1 of the running year,
983 libraries work in the republic, 11 of which – province, 135 –
urban, 802 – rural, 35 – junior. As of January 1, 2009, 1031 libraries
worked in the republic. As of January 1, 2010, the number of library
employees made 1964 against the 2088 of the same period of 2009.

Mr. Ghazaryan noted that the National Library annually publishes the
book of “Armenia’s Libraries”, where the above mentioned information,
the analyses, attendances, the number of readers, etc are summed up.

Its regular issue is in preparation process.

The book fund of public nature has made 11 million 981 thousand
150 against the 12 million 68 thousand of 2008. In 2009 5 million
796 thousand 251 people attended Armenian libraries, and in 2008 –
6 million 235 thousand 55 people.

bioethics; it is necessary to exert every effort to draft an
educational program and prepare corresponding specialists in this
sphere, according to Igor Madoyan, chairman of ‘National Center of
Bioethics’. He said today during the two-day seminar on ‘Bioethical
Education in Armenian Higher Educational Establishments: Problems and
Prospects’, that a corresponding educational program will be drafted
in the result of discussions with the Armenian professionals, dealing
with that field, as well as with specialists of CIS states.

VREZH KASUNI: ‘REANIMANAI’ FESTIVAL HAS REGISTERED SERIOUS ACHIEVEMENTS

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS: “ReAnimania” international animation
film festival, conducted September 9-13 in Armenia, has already
registered serious achievements, Vrezh Kasuni, director of the
festival, said today at a meeting with journalists, summing up the
results of this year’s festival. According to him, many encouraging
letters have been received from abroad. Mr. Kasuni said that they
have already started getting prepared for the regular festival,
and can say that the 10% of the works are competed.

Sona Harutyunyan, head of the Contemporary Art Department of the
Armenian Culture Ministry, said that there is already a consolidated
animation festival, which is able to admit guests. According to her,
it is important to raise interest in animation sphere; the ministry
will extend certain sum of money from budget 2011 for organization
of the festival, which will contribute to its consolidation even more.

Mrs. Harutyunyan handed the Ministry’s Golden Medal to artist
of feature and animated films Stepan Andranikyan for outstanding
contribution to animation sphere.

Director of the Armenian National Cinema Center Gevorg Gevorgyan
highly assessed conduction of the festival in Armenia. He announced
the results of the debut contest conducted within the framework of the
festival, the winner of which is Mary Kyureghyan with the scenario of
the animation film of “The Sun and the Obscurant”. She will get money
award to turn the scenario into a film; “The Sun and the Obscurant”
will be screened by 2011.

The three winners of “Hunting of Talents” contest held within
the festival will have an opportunity to take master classes with
well-known specialists of animation sphere with a term of 1-3 years.

Summing up the results of the festival, Art Director of the film
festival Lusine Kajasaryan noted that 35 countries have participated,
most of the films have been presented from France. Awards have been
handed in 4 contest programs, a number of premiers have been held.

Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan.

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS: An international exhibition entitled
“Armenia – Your Partner” will be conducted October 22-24 in Yerevan
Sport and Concert Complex after Karen Demirchyan with the participation
of international and local businessmen. It is organized by “PromExpo”
company, with the support of the Armenian government and Chamber of
Commerce and Industry.

Arman Zakaryan, director of “PromExpo” company, told Armenpress that
over 150 international and local originations will partake in the
exhibition, presenting different branches of economy.

“Armenia will present itself to international organizations as a
platform of commercial cooperation. That is, during this exhibition
verges of finding cooperation will be created both for international
and local businessmen,” Mr. Zakaryan said.

The potential of Armenia, investment programs will be presented at
the international exhibition. Applications for participation have
been submitted by the businessmen of Russia, Bulgaria, Iran, Czechia
and Cyprus.

Round table-discussions are intended within the framework of “Armenia –
Your Partner” as well.

There Are Development Tendencies In The Sphere Of Recovering Energy

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, ARMENPRESS: There are development tendencies
in Armenia in the sphere of recovering energy, Energy and Natural
Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan said today at a briefing with
reporters during the “Week of Recovering Energy” event, adding that it
is necessary to use at least the few resources we have in the sphere
and opportunities as right and rational as possible.

He said there are 94 small and hydro power plants functioning in
Armenia, 65 of which are in the construction phase. The functioning
small hydro power plants have 124 megawatt power and this year will
produce about 395 million kilowatt/hour electricity, which is the 3%
of the inner demand of the latter. “In near future we may strengthen
our powers and bring it to 7-8%,” the minister said.

Referring to using of wind energy, Mr Movsisyan said that there is a
serious investment interest: an Italian company has already received
license of building 20 megawatt power station and the construction
is in process. “We are also trying to develop sun energy which is
rather expensive, but reliable,” the minister said, noting that
sun energy is not so much developed in the world. According to him,
it is mainly used for the solution of local issues.

Session Of The Board Of Trustees Of FREDA Takes Place

Trustees of the Foundation of Rural Economic Development in Armenia
(FREDA) took place at the Armenian government chaired by the head of
the council, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

Governmental press office told Armenpress that the director of the
Foundation Tigran Khanikyan reported about the issue on making changes
in the staff of Board of Trustees and Statute of the Foundation
which was approved by the members. The prime minister highlighted
the involvement of representative of the Economy Ministry in the
staff of the Board and assigned making corresponding changes in the
Statute of the Foundation.

With another issue the authorities of the members of the Investment
Committee of the FREDA were reaffirmed.

Afterwards the participants exchanged thoughts over future programs
and actions.

On the assignment of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, chief of
president’s staff Karen Karapetyan hold a working consultation on
Lake Sevan issues. Heads of relevant departments and members of the
Committee on Lake Sevan Issues partook in it. The works implemented by
the committee in the past 9 months of 2010, the implementation process
of the assignments given at the previous consultation were discussed,
which will alter be reported to the head of the republic.

Presidential press service told Armenpress that the members of
the committee presented their remarks and proposals on the works
implemented in the accounting period.

At the end of the consultation Chairman of the committee Vladimir
Movsisyan assured that steps will be undertaken in the direction
of implementing the events intended by working activity plan 2010
of the Committee on Lake Sevan Issues completely, in time and with
high quality.

On October 5, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with the
Ambassador of France Serge Smessov who is completing his diplomatic
mission in Armenia.

Minister Nalbandian gave high assessment to the Ambassador~Rs
contribution to the development of Armenia-France ties.

The parties specifically noted high level of political dialogue
between the countries as well as progress in economic cooperation.

In completion, the Foreign Minister awarded Ambassador Smessov with a
commemorative medal symbolizing strengthening of bilateral relations,
ministerial press service reported.
