A gypsy boasting

Sunday, September 11, 2011

Believing that the Americans, some European allies and particularly
the Israelis are deep involved in whatever happens against Turkey is
one perennial psychopathic condition in this country. There are of
course some historical background stories feeding the paranoia of
Turks; for example the British role behind the 1925
Kurdish-fundamentalist uprising, the French role in the Armenian
troubles during the occupation period and before or most lately the
urban legends about American officers meeting in the Kandil Mountains
in northern Iraq with leaders of the separatist gang, providing the
terrorists with food and arms. Seeking foreign hands behind whatever
development that might not be in the best interest of the government
in the country or the state is not a situation peculiar to Syria’s
Basher al-Assad, this country has a rather high prevalence rate of the
same condition.

It is said that in boasting about how great a man he is, a gypsy was
listing his crimes. I remembered that joke reading Israeli media
reports of Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s remarks that might
turn the existing fire in Israel-Turkey relations into a total
apocalypse. Many people in Turkey, top political figures included,
jumped on the reports as a testimony by Israel that it has been
involved in some illegitimate and dirty business against Turkey. What
would be the benefit to Israel in supporting legislation of a
resolution in the U.S. Congress supporting Armenian genocide claims?
Even though Turks might be enraged in seeing Israel undertaking
support for Armenian claims, that would be nothing compared to Israel
supporting the separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, terrorist
gang. What would be the interest of Israel in arranging meetings in
European capitals between its foreign minister or top diplomats and
the representatives of the PKK? Will it be indeed in Israel’s best
interest to support in various ways, including providing arms and
ammunition, to the PKK?

If what Lieberman `leaked’ to the media as Israel’s contingency plans
to `punish’ Turkey were indeed discussed in Israeli government
offices, that is indeed bad news for Israel. Bad news firstly because
it had such a foreign minister fool enough to `unveil’ in such an
amateurish way and exposing to Turks Israel’s face of blackmail in
full ignorance and naivety; secondly, with such exposures Israel risks
losing all together the already very badly hurt Turkish friendship
that indeed must be very important for it in this not-so-friendly
neighborhood. Can’t Lieberman think that if Israel considers
supporting the PKK as a tool to punish current Israel-bashing policies
of the Turkish government, would not that be evidence supporting
perennial suspicions of some people in Turkey that Israel has been one
of the external supporters of PKK terrorism?

It is easy to straight away accuse everyone criticizing any policy or
wrongdoing of the Israeli government of being anti-Semitic. That’s a
cheap and easy way to silence critics and continue committing serious
crimes as if it was not the Jewish people who went through similar and
far worse ordeals. Such moves will not help end the growing isolation
of Israel in the region and in global politics.

It is of course impossible to accept the violence the Israeli Embassy
in Cairo was subjected to. Yet, before accusing Turkey – which of
course made some serious mistakes in this ordeal – or the Egyptian
government, the Israeli government must sit back and think about what
great contributions it made to the devastation of its precious ties
with Turkey and Egypt

Rights activist comments on child killing in Ararat town

Rights activist comments on child killing in Ararat town

11:20 – 11.09.11

Armenian rights activists Arthur Sakunts has said that there will be
more cases in Armenia when a parent kills his/her children, unless
there is a systemic approach to the issue.

Speaking to Tert.am about the recent killing in Ararat region,
Sakunts, who is also the head of the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki
Civil Assembly, said: `We will still have such cases, unless systemic
approach is implied.’

It comes after a mother strangled her two children in Ararat town
earlier this week.

`Eventually, these children were under the mother’s supervision. But
if the neighbors say that the mother behaved strangely recently, I can
pose a question: `Don’t we have social workers that will support the
family (nor control)’?’ asked Sakunts.

Saying that the law enforcers have taken up the case, Sakunts,
however, noted that such cases must raise concerns in the society.
According to him, the point is that the human being in our country is
not considered as the highest value.

`This is not a philosophy; it is particularly so much materialized
that you face it every moment. This is a mania of destroying the
personality,’ said Sakunts.

Audaces fortuna iuvat…(La fortuna castiga..i timidi)

+++

+++

+++

+++

+++

Solo,e senza cane.

Ovvero peggio del solito.

+++

bella..troppo tutto…?

Resta un mistero.

+++

+++

+++

Chechen mujahedeen cumulate their malice caused by the Armenian poli

Mediamax, Armenia
Sept 10 2011

“The Chechen mujahedeen cumulate their malice caused by the Armenian policy”

Saturday 10 September 2011 16:13

Exclusive interview of the chief ideologist of Chechen gunmen Movladi
Udugov to Mediamax (July 1999).

In July 1999, Mediamax made an exclusive interview with Movladi
Udugov, who was considered to be the “chief ideologist” of Chechen
gunmen during the first Chechen war. We established contact with
Udugov through the “Caucasus Center” web site and shortly afterwards
received written answers to our questions with the following
reference: “We can’t answer all your questions due to reasons beyond
our control; nevertheless we will try to be objective and sincere.”

Only a month after this interview, the units of Chechen gunmen led by
Shamil Basayev and Hattab attacked Dagestan. Thus, the second Chechen
war broke out.

We think it will be interesting for you to read this interview today,
12 years later.

– Have there been any contacts and meetings between the Armenian and
Chechen authorities in recent years as well as during war in Chechnya?

– During the 1991 events, when the power in Ichkeria passed to the
All-National Congress of the Chechen People, the unofficial delegation
of the Supreme Council of Armenia headed by the chairman of one of the
committees has arrived in Grozny several times. I can’t remember his
name, I only know that he personally knew Johar Dudayev.

– Is it true that the Chechen detachments headed by commanders Shamil
Basayev and Ruslan Gelayev took part in hostilities in Nagorno
Karabakh?

– (No answer).

– How do you imagine the settlement of the Karabakh conflict? What do
you think, how can the dilemma between the people’s right for
self-determination and the principle of inviolability of borders be
solved in this case?

– Such dilemmas exist because of the initially false formulation of
the question. We are not disposed to support the declarative-political
games, which disguise the true state of affairs. The truth is that by
the end of XX century the contours of the Christian-heathen union
become more precise and the nucleus of this union is the Zionism. This
alliance has announced a war against the Islamic world. This alliance
is, actually, shamelessly occupying the Islamic lands. Karabakh (by
the way, the Chechen name of Karabakh is Arts) is not only an
Azerbaijani territory, it is the territory of Muslims.

– Do you see any parallels between Karabakhi and Chechen conflicts?

– In this context, the Western alliance, sometimes vaguely known as
the “international community”, secretly backs the occupation of
Karabakh and simultaneously pushes Russia not to leave Ichkeria (as if
it depends on Russia).

– How do you assess the policy of Armenian authorities, particularly
on common Caucasian issues?

– The seizure and the occupation of 20% of territories of a
neighboring country – is an unprecedented case even for the
post-Soviet space. This is a short-sighted policy, especially in the
Caucasus. There have never been such cases in the history of relations
of Caucasian nations. This cumulates the indignation of the majority
of Caucasian people, especially of Chechens.

– Do you feel any changes in the Armenian policy especially after the
power had passed from Levon Ter-Petrosyan to Robert Kocharyan?

– This question is incorrect for a political scientist. The Armenian
policy has for long time depended on separate people and parties and
is dictated by those who help by supplying “Mirage” and “MiG’
aircrafts. Unfortunately, Armenian politicians have made themselves
and the whole Armenian people the hostage of foreign interests.

– What do you think, could Chechnya play a role of a mediator in
normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Armenia and
Turkey?

– Chechnya cannot be a mediator between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The
mediation primarily assumes neutrality. We cannot copy “neutrality” of
Western Europe. God never forgives hypocrisy. We speak for the
unconditional voluntary liberation of Azerbaijani territories. And we
will support the Muslim people of Azerbaijan.

– How do you see the future of relations between Armenia and Chechnya?

– Everything depends on the Armenian leadership. Will it change its
political course or not? Will it give up the historical anachronism –
the territorial occupation? It’s a question to think about: why
doesn’t USA, being stronger than Armenia, physically annex anybody’s
territories?

– What is Armenia’s place in the Caucasus?

– Armenia’s place in the Caucasus and its role will depend on the
policy of the Armenian state.

– Armenia is actively developing its military cooperation with Russian
and describes Russia as its chief military-strategic partner. Can this
have a negative impact on Armenian-Chechen relations?

– Armenia’s military-strategic partner (Moscow) will have serious
problems and distresses next year. But even if Armenia turns to NATO
there will be no principal difference. Both Russia and NATO will stick
to anti-Islamic orientation. So, the relations between Chechnya and
Armenia won’t improve. One may chose any sponsors and partners, but in
case of the negative political outcome Armenia cannot be shifted
either to Arkhangelsk region or to the Iberian Peninsula.

– How do you estimate Iran’s role in our region?

– I have an impression that Iran has chosen wrong guidelines.

– In June 1997, Ahmed Zakayev stated that Georgia was Chechnya’s main
strategic partner. What are the main priorities of Chechnya in
relations with three South Caucasus countries today?

– The main priority of Ichkeria is the decolonization of the Caucasus.

– Is there a hostile attitude towards Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh in Chechnya?

– As I have said before, the Chechen mujahedeen cumulate their fury
caused by the Armenian policy. I know that task number 2 for many
Islamic military groups after the liberation of Dagestan is Karabakh.

– What relations will be between Christians and Muslims in the 21st century?

– (No answer).

– Don’t you think that the fight of Karabakhi and Chechen people is
somewhat similar? The two nations, have actually upheld and continue
to uphold their right to live on their home land.

– (No answer).

– Will you visit Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh if you are invited to?

– (No answer).

– If the war in Nagorno Karabakh resumes, will the Chechen volunteers
express desire to take part in it?

– Islamic military units will not be waiting for the resumption of the
war in Nagorno Karabakh. According to some information, they are
planning to launch a campaign for the restoration of Islamic
territories in the South Caucasus in 2000.

– Mr. Udugov, today there are many speculations about vahabism which
is being widely spread in Chechnya. Can this movement be indeed
dangerous for the outer world?

– Vahabism is s political and propagandistic myth.

– The Chairman of the parliamentary group of friendship with the
peoples of Caucasus of the Georgian parliament, Mamuka Areshidze, said
that you are the ideological inspirer of Chechen vahabists. What can
you say in this regard?

– Mamuka is wrong!

Uruguay’s initiative to recognize Karabakh is positive and pleasing –
Armenian MP

September 10, 2011 | 15:30

YEREVAN. – Uruguay’s initiative to start Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’s
(NKR) recognition process is positive and pleasing, but a serious
political revolution would not come about, Armenian MP and vice
chairman of the ruling Republican Party Galust Sahakyan said in an
interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am.

`I believe it would be good if with our diplomatic posture we, the
MPs, try to convince different countries to recognize NKR as a subject
of international law. This is our national concept, and, against this
background, Uruguayan FM Luis Almagro’s statement is very impressive,’
Sahakyan noted.

In response to the question whether other countries of South America
and the world could follow Uruguay’s example, Galust Sahakyan said:
`The processes will have to go in that direction at some point. But of
course that does not mean the states had not known that we were right;
simply, each state has its own interest. And if they leave the
confines of those interests, naturally all would accept. In general,
the formation of states has taken that road.’

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, `I believe Nagorno-Karabakh
should be independent and, in time, unite with Armenia. This is the
only way to resolve the issue,’ Uruguayan FM Luis Almagro had said at
the recent Uruguayan parliamentary conference on Armenia-Uruguay
relations.

Uruguay FM had stated also that Karabakh is a historic part of Armenia
and that Uruguay currently studies the case to formally recognize that
state.

Uruguay is also the first country to recognize the Armenian Genocide
perpetrated by the Turks.

Armenian opposition leader’s speech sounds like lecture – MP

September 10, 2011 | 12:18

YEREVAN. – Armenia’s first president, leader of Armenian opposition
Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s speech at the oppositional Armenian National
Congress (ANC) rally seemed like a lecture from 2008, said the MP from
the Heritage party Stepan Safaryan.

`Ter-Petrosyan’s speech was like a lecture about the past 3 years. You
read and see that it’s only about past, only past. Also there was
WikilLeaks’s extremely partial, selective analysis. It seemed like
Levon Ter-Petrosyan is still in 2008. And I can’t understand the
meaning of the phrase `growth of `now’ has started,’ wondered the MP.

Victor Vasarely: Optical Perspectives exhibit opens in Yerevan

Victor Vasarely: Optical Perspectives exhibit opens in Yerevan

September 10, 2011 – 12:08 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – On September 10, the Eagle Gallery at Cafesjian
Center for the Arts hosted the opening of Victor Vasarely: Optical
Perspectives exhibition.

A selection of 44 prints from the Gerard L. Cafesjian Collection will
represent various periods of Vasarely’s legacy.

Wood, aluminium, plastic as well as silk screening techniques are used
by the famous Hungarian -French artist in his works.

A prominent figure of 20th century art Victor Vasarely was born in
Pécs, Hungary in 1906. Having studied art at the Podolini-Volkmann
private academy and then at `Muhely’ Academy in Budapest, Vasarely
moves to Paris in 1930. Exploring the optical effects and interaction
of color and form, Vasarely develops his own style of geometric
abstraction, founding a new artistic movement. In 1965, after the
`Responsive Eye’ exhibition at the New York Museum of Modern Art,
Vasarely was recognized the forefather of op-art.

Defining the principle of unity of color and form, Vasarely creates
the plastic alphabet, the units of which, through reconfigurations and
permutations generate endless creative combinations. By developing the
plastic alphabet into the universal language of art Victor Vasarely
aspires to make art accessible to all, to contribute to the harmonious
development of art and society.
