Azeri President Personally Responsible For Armenia, Azeri Soldiers’

AZERI PRESIDENT PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ARMENIA, AZERI SOLDIERS’ DEATH

Tert.am
21.11.11

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is personally responsible for the
recent victims on the Armenian side – by and large, victims on both
the Armenian and Azerbaijani side, said Karen Bekaryan, Chairman of
the European Integration NGO.

As regards the Armenian soldiers’ death caused by Azeri snipers, he
said: “We are now reaping the results of Aliyev’s militant rhetoric
and aggression, his policy of preparing his own people for war. All
this is the result of his policy, no matter he seeks war or not.

Moreover, there was an agreement with the OSCE Minsk Group that both
the sides should withdraw their snipers. Aliyev, however, lacked the
political will to make that step,” Bekaryan said.

Çiçek: No sense in comparing Ottoman past to new republic

18 November 2011, Friday / KAZIM PIYNAR , ÝSTANBUL

Parliament Speaker Cemil Çiçek said on Friday that the Turkish
Republic is in no shape or form an alternative or antithesis to the
country’s Ottoman heritage, saying discussions that place the Ottoman
Empire against the republic will lead nowhere.

Çiçek, who was speaking at a symposium to commemorate the 150th year
of the death of Ottoman Sultan Abülmecid, said, “Nobody should try to
emphasize erroneous points and exploit this issue.”

The commemorative event was held at Dolmabahçe Palace. Çiçek, who made
the opening speech at the event, noted that the Turkish Republic was
in its 88th year. He said Turkey emerged out of a will to found a
brand new state on Ottoman territory, an area that disintegrated over
a historical process. “We shouldn’t open to discussion issues that
have been accepted. We can’t get anywhere by placing the Ottoman
Empire and the republic as opposing entities,” he said.

Referring to speculation that the government was secretly marking the
day when the last Ottoman Sultan Vahdettin fled Turkey, as this date,
Nov. 17, coincides with the death of Abdülmecid, he said: “Articles
are being written in association with an incident that happened on
Nov. 17. We have a rich history. There could be events that made us
happy and things that made us very sad on the same day. Should we not
be happy about some things because of the things that made us sad?
Then what is history good for. If we are not going to use our past
experiences to learn, then who will?”

He said in the past 1,000 years, Turks have had periods of glory as
well as other periods when they were the target of slander and
accusations. “We are still currently suffering from these accusations,
not only in our country, but globally. This is why we adopted a
resolution in Parliament in 2005, particularly about the 1915
incidents,” Çiçek said, referring to the mass deportation of the
Armenians in the Ottoman Empire’s eastern territories, which Armenia
today claims amounted to genocide, although Turkey rejects these
allegations. “We said we are ready to confront our history. Anyone who
has something to say can come and do so, we will open our archives and
put forth the documents. We believe that evaluating controversial
periods in the light of research carried out by historians is the
right way,” he added.

“We are ready to confront our history, defend what we know is right
and build a future learning from our inadequacies, if there are any. I
see great benefit in holding such meetings. Instead of drawing
conclusions based on inadequate information or polarizing people, we
can build a future by discussing the issues put forth by our
scientists,” he continued on to say.

Ruling Party of Sweden: `Armenian Genocide’ Resolution Was a Wrong Step

Sunday, 20 November 2011 13:52 .The resolution on the `Armenian
genocide’ adopted by the parliament of Sweden – Riksdag two years ago
was a wrong and ill-considered step, representatives of the ruling
party of Sweden – the Moderate Party said at the meeting with the
representatives of the Swedish Azerbaijanis Congress.

They said that historians should assess the historical events, the
decision should be passed by the international court and
organizations, not by the political organizations.
The members of the Swedish parliament agreed with the representatives
of the Congress that the European Union should activate its
involvement in the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, which
poses threat to the entire region.

They consider that the Swedish parliament has got superficial
information about the conflict and mainly cites to the activity of the
OSCE Minsk Group. With this respect the meeting with the
representatives of the Swedish Azerbaijanis Congress is of great
importance.

The representatives of the Moderate Party were informed about the
Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Khojaly genocide.

Military doctor confessed

Military doctor confessed

05:35 pm | November 19, 2011 | Politics

“The sole purpose of the Armenian Armed Forces is to recruit only
healthy youth. There are some exceptions, but 5 cases at the most
throughout the entire recruitment,” Head of the Military Medicine
Department of the Armed Forces, Colonel Artashes Parsadamyan said
during a press conference today.

According to him, the soldiers’ psychological disturbances that appear
during military service are illnesses that have emerged beforeo
service. Touching upon the case of soldier Hovhannes Vardanyan, the
head of the department assured that the boy’s recruitment was
legitimate.

“Psychological disturbance is God’s punishment that doesn’t appear on
the outside. Hovhannes’s illness was one that nobody could figure out
in advance. No signal or stress could have an impact on its
development,” Parsadamyan said.

He also touched upon the murder of Aghasi Abrahamyan on August 26 and
Vardges Poghosyan, who was charged with the murder: Parsadamyan
confessed: “It is a fact that the doctor hit the soldier, and as an
experienced doctor, I say this with shame.”

However, Artashes Parsadamyan assured that Armenia has so many doctors
that are necessary for the army.

Children ranging from the ages of 5 to 11 today were introduced to the
creations of Hungarian artist Victor Vazareli within the framework of
the educational program called “Op-Art: Transformations of Color and
Form” organized at Cafesjian Center for the Arts.

“The program has been running on Tuesdays and Saturdays starting
September 9. The goal is to help children get in touch with art, learn
to tour museums, introduce them to Vazareli’s art and awaken
creativity within them,” Assistant to the Director of Program
Department at Cafesjian Center for the Arts Shushan Paramozyan.

Using the materials provided by the center and samples of Vazareli’s
creations, the children painted and tried to see different geometrical
images.

“I have been coming and painting here for the sixth time now. This
time I painted a very abstract painting in blue and green,” six-year
old Henri Bejanyan said.

Cafesjian Center also gives children the opportunity to participate in
the exhibitions of other artists and get acquainted with their works.
