Armenia will have a military attaché in Canada. Tomorrow’s government session includes the decision on the project on the military attaché attached to the RA Embassy in Canada.

According to the rationale presented by the Government, Armenia and Canada cooperate effectively in bilateral and multilateral formats, which is a solid basis for fully realizing the existing opportunities for cooperation in the field of defense.

Between the two states there are strong interstate relations, an increasing level of political dialogue, active inter-parliamentary cooperation, a full legal treaty field, cooperation on multilateral platforms, as well as in the economy, education, culture and other fields.

Armenia is interested in further expanding and deepening relations with Canada in both bilateral and multilateral formats, and the accreditation of the RA military attaché in Canada will be another stimulus in the context of deepening bilateral cooperation. In particular, the RA military attaché will promote the opportunities to develop cooperation in the field of defense of mutual interest, to fully use the existing potential.

According to the rationale, the existing high-level political dialogue and cooperation with Canada on bilateral and multilateral platforms are a prerequisite for forming ties in the field of defense between the two states, developing and deepening bilateral multi-sectoral cooperation, in particular, laying the foundations for the formation and further expansion of constructive cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

“The two countries have significant potential and prospects for the further development of relations in the field of defense, as well as in the field of information technology and military technology. Therefore, the great potential of cooperation in the field of defense and the great interest shown by the Canadian side in deepening the cooperation in the recent period is due to having a military attaché of the Republic of Armenia in Canada. Moreover, Armenia attaches great importance to the consistent development and expansion of bilateral cooperation with Canada as an important bridge between Armenia and NATO,” the statement said.

In addition, it is also noted that the presence of a military attaché in Canada will contribute to the further development of cooperation in the field of defense between the two countries, will give new impetus to the implementation of joint measures in the field of defense between the two countries.

The presence of a military attaché will ensure that defense relations are elevated to a higher level of partnership.
