Detectives conducted a search on Tuesday morning at the residence of Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a Member of Parliament from the opposition Armenia bloc led by former President Robert Kocharyan.
“Investigative and procedural actions are being carried out within the framework of a criminal proceeding,” the Investigative Committee told Armenpress.
The Investigative Committee later reported that a court had frozen 258 million AMD worth of assets belonging to Ishkhan Saghatelyan and his wife and barred them from managing their property. Authorities allege he failed to properly declare assets and supposedly failed to comply with a forfeiture order.
The criminal case was launched over alleged interference with frozen assets and failure to properly declare property and financial assets.
Foreign currency and gold jewelry were found during searches at Ishkhan Saghatelyan’s residence and in two vehicles belonging to his wife.
