Yerevan City Council approved on Tuesday the renaming of Amiryan Street in downtown Yerevan to King Pap Street.
The bill was presented by city councillors from the National Progress faction.
The bill was part of a consent agenda of other items, and some councillors sought to debate it separately, but a vote ultimately rejected the proposal, and the renaming was approved along with the other items.
Amiryan Street, which runs from Republic Square to Saryan Street, was named after Arsen Amiryan, an early 20th-century Bolshevik figure. Pap was king of Armenia from 370 to 374, a period noted for stabilization after years of political turmoil.
