Whether to take the mandates or not, the main problem of the future work of the opposition in general is what tactics we adopt, what is planned in the near future. There is quite an energetic, open and sincere discussion on this issue both within our units and between different political units of the opposition. “This government is not legitimate and has not received the vote of the majority of our people, it does not have a mandate to change the Constitution at the request of Azerbaijan, hand over enclaves or make new concessions. But it is obvious that the government is trying to strengthen its power through illegalities, violence, repressions, to show that it has legitimacy from the people to take such steps and actions. Without a strong popular movement, it is not possible to solve the problem. As a result of discussions, we will come to an agreement on when it should happen, with what mechanisms, what program, what sequence of steps,” said the politician.

“We must speak clearly to our voters and get down to work. It should be in the way of expressing the will of the people, because the rights of our people have been violated. The united agenda of the opposition is very important, regardless of which political force participated in the elections in which format. We welcome Samvel Karapetyan’s initiative, and we must develop a functional agenda for cooperation with the opposition,” Saghatelyan said.

According to the opinion of the opposition figure, the opposition is facing a very difficult and difficult problem regarding whether to take mandates or not.

“There are both supporters of taking the mandates and supporters of not taking them, among our voters and our party, and both of these views have the right to live. But the logic of taking a mandate, if we go that way, will be that no matter what kind of street struggle and popular uprising there is, its final chord, legal packaging will take place in the parliament. Therefore, mandates are necessary at that time.”

“We cannot achieve change with only the parliamentary apparatus, therefore, if we take the mandates, it should be both the street and the parliament, otherwise there is no point in taking the mandate. There is no chance of success with the parliamentary mandate alone. Taking a mandate also implies responsibility. 550,000 people voted, and it is necessary to go and continue the struggle with those demands, instead of avoiding that responsibility. The question of the legitimacy of the Parliament is determined not by our going or not, but by their falsified elections,” said Ishkhan Saghatelyan.
