Russian and Armenian prime ministers to meet a day after XXII Olympic
Winter Games close in Sochi

YEREVAN February 22

– Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his Armenian counterpart
Tigran Sarkisyan will meet in Sochi on February 24, a day after the
closing ceremony of the XXII Olympic Winter Games, which the Armenian
premier is going to attend at the Russian side’s invitation.

“There is an agenda for the meeting which includes priority themes for
talks,” the Armenian prime minister told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

“Primarily, they concern questions linked to Armenia’s accession to
the Customs Union; credits to finance further operation of the
existing power unit at the Armenian nuclear power plant; safety
problems as well as labor migration,” Sarkisyan went on to say.

“Our dialogue is open. My colleague has full understanding of problems
that face Armenia,” the Armenian prime minister stressed.

He added that Russia and Armenia did not have a single matter on which
they could have failed to reach agreement and accord with
consideration taken of reciprocal interests. Sarkisyan thanked the
Russian prime minister for understanding and warm attitude to Armenia.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
