MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENT FACING TROUBLE
The minister of environmental protection Aram Harutiunyan is facing
trouble. The Zhoghovurd has learned that the Prosecutor General’s
Office and the Police have focused on the issue of water nourishing
the Ararat Valley. A lot of people have already been interviewed.
The annually renewed amount of water of the Artesian wells of Ararat
is 1,226,000,000 cu m. This is the maximum amount that is allowed to
use. However, Aram Harutiunyan has apparently issued permits of water
use in the result of which about 200 million cu m of unused water flows
into the Arax River. And 1,200,000,000 cu m is used by fish farms.
Due to such careless use of water the communities of Armavir,
Echmiadzin, masis, Artashat, Ararat, Vedi may face shortage of water.
