ARMENIAN BUSINESSMAN SETTLES DEBT WITH YEZIDI FARMERS

Businessman Lyova Safaryan, whom 21 Yazidi farmers who raise livestock
have accused of fraud, claims that he “solved the problems” with
their families and they no longer have any demands.

Recall, the cattlemen had expressed their concerns through the media
in December 2013, saying that the businessman was posing as a friend
of National Assembly President Hovik Abrahamyan (pictured) and thus
gaining their trust, acquired milk from their cows on a loan which
he never repaid.

Safaryan, however, today informed Epress.am that he had nothing to do
with that transaction. “My friend bought that milk, and that friend of
mine is not in Armenia now. It’s just that they began to mention names
of other people, for example, the president of the National Assembly.

I resolved this issue: I gave those people their money, so they no
longer speak [of this],” he said.

One of the creditors, Rustam Iboyan, in conversation with Epress.am,
confirmed that “they came to an agreement” with Safaryan. According
to him, Safaryan paid half the loan; the other half, he promised to
give at the end of the month.

Iboya had stated earlier that Safaryan personally bought the milk
from them. According to the Yezidi farmer, Safaryan answered their
phone calls by swearing and strongly denying that he mentioned Hovik
Abrahamyan’s name. National Assembly president’s press secretary, Gohar
Poghosyan, denied Safaryan having any links with Hovik Abrahamyan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
