Laboratory testing has found insecticide residues in fruit sampled from a Yerevan shop where an employee was filmed allegedly spraying an insecticide on fruit for sale, Armenia’s Food Safety Inspection Body said.
The samples were taken from a fruit and vegetable shop at 33/4 Saryan Street in Yerevan following a video circulated on social media that showed the employee allegedly spraying the fruit.
The Food Safety Inspection Body said it will conduct broader inspections of fruit and vegetable outlets to check compliance with sanitary and hygiene requirements. It will also take samples of fruit and vegetables for laboratory testing to determine whether similar cases have occurred at other shops.
