EDWARD SINANYAN: THE FAMOUS APIARIST FROM SYUNIK – PHOTOS

Edward Sinanyan, a resident of the Syunik village of Karahoundj,
has been a beekeeper since the age of sixteen.

He only had three beehives when he started and now tends 130.

During the past few years Edward has begun to domesticate wild bee
populations by bringing them home, as it were.

The 37 year-old beekeeper also harvests wild honey from the cliff
side as seen in the video. He says that wild honey fetches three
times the price of regular honey.

Everyone in the area knows Edward and many buy honey from him.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
