“We must remember what happened 97 years ago, at the same time
looking into the future,” German Ambassador to Armenia Hans- Jochen
Schmidt said.

“Turkey must assume responsibility for all it did,” the Ambassador
added.

According to him, the recognition of the fact by the Turkish Government
is important for the establishment of friendship between the two
peoples.

“If you want to build the future, you must face the past, like Germans
did,” Ambassador Scmidt added.

“If Turkey wants to join the European Union, it should accept its
past,” the German Ambassador concluded.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
