President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan met with NATO Secretary General
Anders Fogh Rasmussen at NATO Headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday.

During the 40-minute meeting the sides discussed issues related to
Armenia’s partnership with the Alliance, NEWS.am reports.

The Secretary General thanked President Sargsyan for Armenia’s
contribution to the Alliance’s ISAF operation in Afghanistan.

“NATO and Armenia share many political priorities and security
interests. And we have built up our cooperation and dialogue over
many years. Our relationship contributes to regional security and
Euro-Atlantic security. And we want to take it forward in that way,”
Rasmussen said.

The Secretary General stressed that the South Caucasus region is
important for the Alliance, and Armenia is an important partner
for NATO.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
