Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia released Tigran Hakobyan, the
famous journalist, the former head of the State Committee for
Television and Radio, and former director of Armenpress state news
agency, on recognizance not to leave Thursday.

The Prosecutor General’s Office listened to the call of the media
community and changed the measure of restraint against Hakobyan. On
Feb 28 the heads of 21 Mass Media and 3 journalistic organizations,
including the Yerevan Press Club, addressed a letter to Prosecutor
General Aghvan Hovsepyan. “Not going into details of the accusation,
we draw your attention at the fact that Tigran Hakobyan has serious
health problems and his health state raises fears,” the letter reads.
The authors of the letter expressed confidence that if set free Tigran
Hakobyan will not impede the investigation.

To recall, Tigran Hakobyan is accused of economic offences, but his
colleague-journalists are sure that he fell “victim” to his unfair
business-partners.
