128 thous. tons of meat produced in Armenia in 2011

PanARMENIAN.Net – Consumers’ Association NGO head said that drop in
meat production was recoreded in Armenia in 2008-2009 amid global
financial crisis.
According to Armen Poghosyan, Armenia imports agricultural product as
the local is not sufficient.
`2011 saw 128 thous. tons of meat production in Armenia, the index
grossed 117 thous. tons in 2007. With only with 3 % growth recorded in
three years, local demands can’t be met,’ Poghosyan said on March 3.
11 thousand tons of cattle, 6 thousand tons of pork and 280.5 kg of
mutton were imported to Armenia over the past year.
