Moldova does not intend selingl arms to Armenia. Some media outlets
disseminate false information, Moldovan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Igor
Bodiu told Trend on Friday.

“Perhaps, that is beneficial to someone?” the diplomat said.

Earlier, Moldovan President Marian Lupu dismissed the chief of general
staff of the Armed Forces, General Yuri Dominici.

Despite the statements that the decree was signed to improve military
discipline, to prevent violations of military legislation in the
future, as the Moldovan media wrote, the reason for dismissing the
general was a secret deal with Armenia for arms supply. The scandal
has caused a sensation in Moldovan political circles.

It is reported that the matter rests in the artillery and antitank
units. These were delivered from Chisinau to Yerevan on September 13.

The scandal led to a disagreement between the Cabinet of Ministers
and the Moldovan Ministry of Defence. An investigation is underway.

Official: Moldovan authorities criticize unlawful weapons sale
to Armenia

The head of Moldova’s Armed Forces has dismissed rumors about the sale
of arms from Moldova to Armenia. This illustrates that the Moldovan
authorities are seriously concerned about unlawful weapons sale,
First Vice Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Askerov told
journalists on Friday.

He said Moldovan officials submitted their explanations and statements
in connection with the unlawful sale of arms to Armenia because
Azerbaijan and Moldova are linked through partner relations.

“We cooperate in GUAM. Of course, such actions committed by a friendly
state without Azerbaijan’s knowledge can in no way suit us, so they
gave us their explanations,” Askerov said.

Moldovan President Marian Lupu earlier dismissed Gen. Yury Dominich
from the Armed Forces.

Despite statements that the President signed his order to enhance
military discipline and prevent further violations of military legal
provisions, the true reason of the General’s dismissal, as reported
by Moldovan newspapers, was that the secret arms sale transaction
with Armenia had been unmasked. The outburst scandal stormed Moldovan
political circles.

Moldovan ruling circles fear that this scandal may become a barrier on
Moldova-Azerbaijan cooperation under the GUAM. The arms reportedly were
artillery and antitank units. The arms were delivered from Kishinev to
Yerevan by a cargo plane on September 13. The scandal has already led
to discords between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Defense Ministry
of Moldova. Investigation has been carried out on the fact.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
