PanARMENIAN.Net – The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will
support the candidacy of current President Serzh Sargsyan at 2013
presidential election, a member of RPA stated.

“The decision was confirmed in coalition parties’ memorandum. RPA
is not a pro-governmental or pro-presidential party. We are a ruling
presidential party, pursuing our programs and goals,” Gagik Melikyan
told a news conference in Yerevan.

Melikyan did not rule out a possibility for ex-leader Robert Kocharian
to run for President. The MP, however, was skeptical as to the fact
above having any impact on Armenia’s domestic policy.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
