The meeting on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in
Kazan (the Volga area) may result in solving the problem, the OSCE
Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said at a press-conference
in Moscow.

A tri-partite meeting of the presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and
Russia will take place in Kazan on the 24th of June. According to the
Russian Foreign Ministry, it is planned to adopt a draft resolution
on the settlement of the conflict.

Nagorno-Karabakh is an Armenian enclave on the territory of Azerbaijan
which proclaimed itself an independent republic in 1991. Negotiations
on the settlement of the conflict were begun by Russia, Kazakhstan,
Azerbaijan and Armenia on the 23rd of September 1991.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
