The Armenia-Turkey relations are no longer a priority for Turkey,
political expert Richard Kirakosian has said.

Speaking about the recent parliamentary elections in Turkey at a
press conference on Tuesday, Kirakosyan said that they envisage new
directions and new relations in the Armenia-Turkey normalization.

“The most important thing in these elections is that the Armenian
cause and the Karabakh issue were not mentioned during the election
campaigns,” said he. “This means that these issues are no longer
priorities for Turkey.”

According to Kirakosian, parliamentary elections in Turkey are
important for Armenia for three reasons. Firstly, the Armenia-Turkey
Protocols and the halted processes related with them. Secondly,
Azerbaijan will be the first country Turkish Prime Minister Recep
Tayyip Erdogan will pay his first foreign visit after the elections.

The third important factor, according him, is that there will be new
figures in the Armenia-Turkey normalization.

“We can see changes in the Turkish government. This means we will
have to rebuild our relations with new people,” said Kirakosian.

In his words, Armenia’s positions will be stronger under new
circumstances as the new figures in the Turkish government will not
be well-aware of the Armenia-Turkey relations.

“This means that the Armenia-Turkey normalization which is currently
suspended, will see new developments and displays,” Kirakosian added.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
