NO AGE CAP FOR PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES IN CONSTITUTION – ANC MEMBER

There is no age restriction in Electoral Code or the Constitution
for presidential candidates, a spokesman for the Armenian National
Congress told Tert.am.
This came in comment on a statement by Arman Melikyan, a former
Karabakh deputy foreign minister, who said yesterday that the Armenian
Constitution limits the age of presidential candidates and the ANC
leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan is too old to be eligible.
Armen Khachatryan of the ANC said there is a requirement of a minimum
age -35 – but there is nothing about maximum age of candidates in
the Constitution.
