Member of the Armenian delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of
the Council of Europe (PACE) Zaruhi Postanjyan has sent information
to PACE notifying about the 5th parliamentary elections to be held
on May 23 in the Artsakh Republic.
Postanjyan accuses the PACE of not having shown respect for the
rights of the people living in Artsakh. Further she mentions that
the Chairman of the National Assembly of NKR Ashot Ghulyan invited
the PACE to come and monitor the parliamentary elections, while the
PACE decided to refuse it.
Later Postanjyan says that during its independence Artsakh has held
presidential, parliamentary and municipal elections.
"The whole judicial, public and state system of Artsakh is in line
with the provisions of European Human Rights Convention, and Artsakh
has outstripped Azerbaijan in terms of democracy," writes Postanjyan,
adding that the recognition of the independence of Nagorno Karabakh
has come and has no alternative.
