"We have no occasion to mark the World Environment Day," says Hakob
Sanasaryan, President of Greens Union of Armenia.

"Today construction is underway in green territories envisaged by
Yerevan’s plan," adds Mr. Sanasaryan.

Boris Gabrielyan, Director of Institute of Hydroecology and Ichthyology
of the National Academy of Sciences, dwelt on Sevan’s problems.

If in the 80s we had 30,000 tons of whitefish today we have only
170 tons. It means that as a species whitefish is on the verge of
disappearing," says Mr. Gabrielyan who doubts whether the problem
can ever be tackled.
