SMBAT AIVAZIAN DENIES TORTURE

At about 9.30 a.m. on February 25 the Office of Human Rights
Defender received a report that the police inflict torture on Smbat
Aivazyan. The working group set up by the instruction of Armenia’s
Ombudsman Armen Harutiunian, visited the central police department
and had a private talk with Smbat Aivazian.

Smbat Aivazyan denied that he had been tortured, and said he had no
problems with health.

As of now, Smbat Aivazian has hired a lawyer, the Department of Public
Relations and Information of the Human Rights Defender reports.
