RPA FOLLOWS PRINCIPLE OF TOLERANCE, ITS REPRESENTATIVE STATES

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 2, NOYAN TAPAN. The showing of public moods in
Armenia is the results of the May 12 parliamentary elections, and, in
particular, the circumstance that the majority of people voted for the
Republican Party and its program. Mkrtich Minasian, a member of the RPA
faction, stated at the November 2 press conference, commenting upon the
home political situation formed in the country. "The parliamentary
elections demonstrated that the Armenian people has started to be
guided by realistic approaches," the deputy stated.

M. Minasian mentioned that issues connected with development of
healthcare sphere, development of Armenian regions and first of all
remote ones, are in the focus of RPA’s attention today.

As for the first President Levon Ter-Petrosian’s speech at the October
26 rally, M. Minasian said that any person has the right to present his
point of view. At the same time, according to him, everything should
not be presented in a general black and white color, because, in spite
of many problems, positive indices are also registered in a number of
spheres. He emphasized that RPA follows the principle of tolerance.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
